Because “Top Chef” judge and “Last Chance Kitchen” host Tom Colicchio sent two chefs back into the competition at the midway point of the season (Soo Ahn and Kaleena Bliss), that meant the judges were obligated to, at one point down the line, eliminate two chefs to balance everything out. They did just that in “The Good Land,” where the chefs were tasked with honoring Native American cuisine. Amanda Turner and Laura Ozyilmaz were both guilty of overloading their dishes with too many ideas and ingredients, so both had to pack their knives and go. But how did they do when they both had to go up against reigning “Lck” champ Kevin D’Andrea? Watch part one of their triple threat match above, and scroll down to watch part two.

Last week was “Restaurant Wars” on “Top Chef,” one of the most hotly anticipated and punishingly difficult challenges of every season. This year it resulted in the second elimination of cheftestant Kaleena Bliss, who decided to forego “Last Chance Kitchen” to protect her mental health, taking her out of the competition for good.
That leaves eight competitors on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Soo Ahn, Manny Barella, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Amanda Turner and Michelle Wallace. So what happened in “The Good Land”?

Kaleena Bliss was eliminated from “Top Chef” for a second time at the end of “Restaurant Wars,” which brought her back to “Last Chance Kitchen” to face reigning “Lck” champ Kevin D’Andrea. Would she be able to fight her way back into the competition again?
… The short answer is no, but not because she lost the “Lck” battle against Kevin. When she entered the kitchen and addressed him and host Tom Colicchio, she announced, much to their surprise, “Unfortunately, I’m not going to be competing today. One of the hardest things I think that I’ve had to learn in my journey of being a chef is that I need to put my mental health first before everything else. My heart’s telling me that if I were to step into this kitchen right now, I wouldn’t be able to give either of you my best.”

“Top Chef” cheftestant and “Top Chef France” alum Kevin D’Andrea was eliminated last week in the ballpark-inspired “Sausage Race” challenge, leaving nine cheftestants on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Soo Ahn, Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Amanda Turner and Michelle Wallace.
So what happened when those cheftestants reached the famous — or infamous — “Restaurant Wars” in season 21, episode eight?
The episode begins with ominous music and black cars on the road. “I don’t know where the Gps is set to, but I know the area where it’s set to,” says native Wisconsinite Dan. “It’s right on the lake. There are so many things that this could be.” They arrive at Discovery World and find host...

“It was my first time that I was in the bottom, and it was such a bad dish that I got eliminated, so that’s definitely a punch in the gut,” says Rasika Venkatesa as she enters “Last Chance Kitchen.” “My business on ‘Top Chef’ feels unfinished.” What happened when she faced off against Kevin D’Andrea for a chance to return to the competition? Watch this week’s episode of “Lck,” titled “Let’s Play Ball,” above, or read on to find out what happened.

Early “Top Chef” favorite Rasika Venkatesa was eliminated last week in the aptly titled “Chaos Cuisine,” leaving 10 cheftestants on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Soo Ahn, Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Kevin D’Andrea, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Amanda Turner and Michelle Wallace.
So what happened in episode seven, “Sausage Race”?
“It feels weird not having Rasika here,” says Danny, who has found a new running buddy in Savannah. Rasika was sent home last week in a result that was pretty shocking because she and fellow bottom chef Michelle have been two of the strongest, most consistent chefs of the entire competition thus far. “I felt like I was going home,” Michelle admits. Being in the bottom is “a kick in the ass.

Charly Pierre was eliminated from “Top Chef” last week in “Supper Club,” leaving nine cheftestants on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kevin D’Andrea, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace. Except no, there weren’t just nine chefs left in the competition. This week not one, but two entered the show from “Last Chance Kitchen.”
So what happened in “Top Chef” season 21, episode six, “Chaos Cuisine,” when the size of the cast actually grew?
The episode begins with some “power bottom training” in the gym with Manny and Kevin, who have become close over the course of the season, bonded over exercise much like Danny and Rasika, but also bonded over their struggles in the competition.

“Top Chef” hasn’t finished “Last Chance Kitchen” for the season just yet, but the second-chance after show has reached a major milestone. In the two-part “Mid-Season Finale,” host and judge Tom Colicchio sent someone back into the main competition. Watch part one above, and scroll down for part two.
Charly Pierre entered “Lck” this week after he was eliminated from the main competition in “Supper Club,” where the cheftestants had to team up to make traditional five-course Supper Club meals. Pierre was in charge of the fish dish on the losing team, and he drastically overcooked it, so he was cooked. “Being cut on ‘Top Chef’ sucked,” he said. Now as he sought redemption, “I’m doing it for Haiti, doing it for New Orleans, and my restaurant and my sous chef and my cooks. We’ll do it one challenge at a time.”

Alisha Elenz and Kaleena Bliss were eliminated from “Top Chef” last week in “The Wright Way,” leaving 10 cheftestants on the main show (and two in “Last Chance Kitchen“) competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kevin D’Andrea, Danny Garcia, Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Laura Ozyilmaz, Charly Pierre, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace.

Another episode of “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen,” another opportunity for Tom Colicchio to explain to eliminated contestants who the hell the new guy is: Soo Ahn, this season’s secret 16th cheftestant. The cheftestants on “Top Chef” have had a couple of weeks to find their footing in the world of Wisconsin cuisine, tackling some cooking basics in “Chef’s Test” and then exploring hops and bar snacks in “Living the High Life.” But it wouldn’t be a Wisconsin season without cheese. After two “Top Chef” challenges there have been two eliminations: David Murphy in “Chef’s Test” and Valentine Howell Jr. in “Living the High Life.” So they went head-to-head in “Last Chance Kitchen” for a chance to return to the competition … Except they didn’t. David was nowhere to be found. Perhaps his bottom-three cookoff in “Chef’s Test” served as its own kind of “Last Chance Kitchen,” because there’s no mention of him at all in this week’s first “Lck.” As far as I can tell he’s out for good. Watch this week’s “Lck” above.
Instead, Valentine had to battle Soo Ahn, a secret 16th cheftestant who the show added to the competition specifically for “Lck.” He’ll have to win five times for a chance to enter the main competition at all. Tom Colicchio gave him and Valentine a challenge that flipped Valentine’s last challenge on its head.

“Top Chef” wasted no time throwing the contestants’ into the heat of the competition, going straight into the Elimination Challenge in last week’s season premiere, “Chef’s Test.” Some chefs passed their test with flying colors while others struggled. David Murphy was the first chef ousted from the competition, leaving 14 on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Kevin D’Andrea, Alisha Elenz, Danny Garcia, Valentine Howell Jr., Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Kenny Nguyen, Laura Ozyilmaz, Charly Pierre, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace.

Wednesday’s season 21 premiere of Top Chef is a hard reset in a number of ways, most obvious among them being the new host. For the first time in 19 seasons and just as many years, it isn’t Padma Lakshmi gently but decisively telling an unlucky hopeful to pack their knives and go. It’s Kristen Kish.
The season 10 winner, initially kicked off the competition before fighting back to the finale on spin-off Last Chance Kitchen, emerged as an early and clear favorite to fill Padma’s shoes when she announced her exit last summer. Kish has been a familiar face to the franchise since her 2012 win, expanding her TV horizons by hosting the Netflix update of Iron Chef and National Geographic’s Restaurants at the End of the World. But those who tune in to the start of Top Chef‘s Wisconsin-set cycle will notice that Kish isn’t the only change.

When Top Chef makes its long-awaited return for its historic 21st season, it’ll be with a new host, chef and TV presenter Kristen Kish. You may not only recognize Kish from her shows on the Travel Channel, TruTV, and National Geographic but also as a former Top Chef competitor.
In fact, Kish won her season of the competition show, after first being eliminated in season 10 but then making a comeback in Last Chance Kitchen to ultimately beat out 23 other chefs. It’s an impressive resume, to say the least, and there’s arguably no one more qualified to take on the job of host and judge on Top Chef than someone who’s actually been through the gauntlet.
As great as it is to see Kish as the new face of Top Chef, some longtime fans might be left wondering why former host Padma Lakshmi decided to step down from the show.

After 20 seasons, “Top Chef” has gone through some significant changes. Most notably, former champion Kristen Kish replaces longtime host Padma Lakshmi for Season 21, which also introduces its first major twist — at least since the introduction of redemption with “Last Chance Kitchen” — to the overall gameplay in two decades.
“It was a great opportunity for us to take a look at what we’ve done for the first two decades and start thinking about the next two decades,” Ryan Flynn, SVP of Current Production for NBCUniversal Entertainment and Streaming, told IndieWire. “With Padma moving on, it really felt like a great exclamation point” on that period of the franchise.
With “Top Chef” Season 21, which sees Kish join returning judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons for the installment set in Wisconsin, there was an opportunity to “sort of shake the rhythm a little bit” and “challenge ourselves to step outside of the...

Top Chef has a new host for the first time since its second season when Padma Lakshmi replaced Katie Lee Joel. For Season 21, Top Chef: Wisconsin, it’s Top Chef: Seattle alum Kristen Kish who’ll tell folks to “pack their knives and go.” But who is Kish? Though she might be familiar to superfans of the culinary competition show, here’s a breakdown of all the key details. How Is Kristen Kish Connected to the Top Chef Franchise? Kish was initially introduced to the Top Chef world as a Season 10 competitor in 2012, which she ultimately won. It wasn’t an easy path to victory for her, though, as she was initially eliminated during the “Restaurant Wars” episode. However, she won her way back into the main competition with five consecutive wins in Last Chance Kitchen against other eliminated participants. David Moir/Bravo Kish went head-to-head with Brooke Williamson in...

She was down but not out. “Top Chef: World All-Stars” contestant Sara Bradley was eliminated from the competition in “Battle of the Wellingtons,” quite possibly the most difficult challenge of the season. But she wasn’t gone for long. In a two-part “Last Chance Kitchen” finale even she defeated Amar Santana and then Charbel Hayek to earn back her spot in the main competition. Can she complete her comeback by winning the whole competition?

It wouldn’t be unprecedented. Kristen Kish (season 10), Brooke Williamson (season 14), and Joseph Flamm (season 15) had to pack their knives and go in their respective seasons, battled back from “Lck,” and ultimately prevailed. That’s not a bad track record when you consider that “Lck” has only been around since season nine. And consider the rest of Bradley’s track record.

“Top Chef: World All-Stars” is down to its final four: Ali Al Ghzawi (Middle East and North Africa), Buddha Lo (Houston), Tom Goetter (Germany), and Gabriel Rodriguez (Mexico). But really it’s the final five, as Tom reminds Gabri at the start of episode 12, “Goodbye, London.” That’s because last week marked the finale of “Last Chance Kitchen,” which means one eliminated chef is coming back into the competition. But who will it be? Tom and Gabri speculate about Dale MacKay and Nicole Gomes, but fans who have kept up with “Lck” know that it’s really between last week‘s ousted chef Sara Bradley and “Street Food Fight‘s” eliminated contestant Charbel Hayek. So who is it?

“I hope that history repeats itself,” says Amar Santana at the start of the two-part season finale of “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen.” “Season 13 of ‘Top Chef’ I won ‘Last Chance Kitchen’ and came back and went to the finale, and this season means a lot more to me because I’m competing against the best of the best. For Victoire Gouloubi, comparing “Last Chance Kitchen” to the main “Top Chef” competition is like comparing Coca-Cola to champagne: “No, I don’t love.” She was eliminated from the competition in “Thali Time,” but “I’m going to fight to get back.” Watch her head-to-head battle against reigning “Lck” champion Charbel Hayek above.
Gouloubi had to pack her knives and go after a challenge in which she and her fellow contestants had to create Indian-inspired dishes that incorporated six different flavor profiles: salty, sweet, bitter, sour, pungent, and astringent. Gouloubi made basic cooking mistakes like not seasoning her salad and overcooking her rice, so for redemption, host and judge Tom Colicchio tasks them with creating a dish that incorporate some of those six flavors, and they draw knives to decide who gets which ones. Hayek draws salty, sour, and pungent. Gouloubi gets sweet, bitter, and astringent.

“I am ever so determined to get back into the competition and make it to that finale. I’ve put enough hard work into this. What was the purpose? to win ‘Top Chef’ 20,” says Nicole Gomes as she enters “Last Chance Kitchen” following her elimination from the competition in the dreaded “Restaurant Wars.” “I call her a beast, and it’s my pleasure to compete against her,” admits Charbel Hayek, who was eliminated from the show last week in “Street Food Fight” and is the current “Lck” champion. Watch their battle above.
Gomes had never been in the bottom during an Elimination Challenge before, but “Restaurant Wars” did her in when her risky tortellini dish came out with thick, uneven pasta. Charbel Hayek was kind of a shocking “Top Chef” elimination in the episode “Street Food Fight.” He won the first challenge of the season in “London Calling” and had never landed in the bottom in all the weeks after that. But on “Top Chef” it only takes one bad day. And that’s what Hayek had. However, in “Last Chance Kitchen” he had to face Dale MacKay, who was eliminated twice and had just as much to prove. Watch their battle above.
Hayek was eliminated in a mise en place team challenge. His team did okay during that challenge, securing one protein — lamb — while another team got stuck with nothing but vegetables. However, his team’s decision to all use the lamb instead of highlighting all of their ingredients was their downfall. Hayek was supposed to highlight the lamb itself. ‘Top Chef’ 20 episode 8 recap: ‘Street Food Fight’ led to a ‘Fast and Furious’ Elimination Challenge
“When I make a bad dish, I know that it’s bad,” says Victoire, lamenting her disappointing cassava cannoli from “Top Chef: World All Stars” episode seven, “Hands Off.” Luckily for her it wasn’t the worst dish of the challenge. That was Dale MacKay‘s, so he was eliminated just one episode after returning to the competition from “Last Chance Kitchen.” So what happened in episode eight, “Street Food Fight,” when the competition suddenly got a lot more demanding — and a lot faster?
The nine remaining competitors playing for the $250,000 grand prize are Ali Al Ghzawi (Middle East and North Africa), Sara Bradley (Kentucky), Charbel Hayek (Middle East and North Africa), Victoire Gouloubi (Italy), Buddha Lo (Houston), Tom Goetter (Germany), Gabriel Rodriguez (Mexico), Amar Santana (California), and Nicole Gomes (Canada).

Last week’s episode of “Top Chef: World All-Stars,” “Top Chef is No Picnic,” started with 10 contestants, and it ended with … 10 contestants. But it wasn’t the same 10. “Top Chef Canada” alum Dale MacKay returned to the competition after fighting his way back through “Last Chance Kitchen,” and then “Top Chef Poland’s” Sylwia Stachyra was eliminated after a sandwich cookoff against Tom Goetter. There was a bit of a surprise at the end of “Top Chef” season 20, episode six, “Top Chef is No Picnic.” The judges decided that Tom Goetter and Sylwia Stachyra were on the losing team and had the two worst dishes of the luxurious picnic challenge. One of them would stay and one of them would go. But there was a catch. “Come with me,” Padma Lakshmi told them. So they left Judges’ Table and made their way to two outdoor cooking stations. It would be a “Last Chance Kitchen” cookoff to decide who stays in the competition and who’s eliminated. Watch it above.

Sylwia Stachyra will be eliminated from “Top Chef: World All-Stars” episode six. That’s according to the combined predictions of fans who have placed their bets here in our predictions center. But it’s been tough to pin down this season’s eliminations from week to week, so let’s look at the stats.
Stachyra has been on the bottom before: she got low marks from the judges for her overly sweet rice in “Rice, Rice Baby.” But that’s the only time she has let the judges down in an Elimination Challenge. The Polish chef has sailed through every other week, and in “Spurred Lines” she was on one of the first teams to win their head-to-head battle and be declared safe. But she hasn’t been singled out by the judges with a high score yet. So that’s always a sign of vulnerability.

The eliminated chefs from Bravo’s Top Chef: World All Stars have been battling it out in Last Chance Kitchen to return to the competition. However, it ends next week during episode six when one officially re-enters.
Luciana Berry was eliminated from ‘Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen’
Top Chef Spain Season 1 winner Begoña Rodrigo’s “leftover” stew sent her to Last Chance Kitchen to battle it out with Brasil Season 2 champ Luciana Berry and Canada Season 1 winner Dale MacKay for a final opportunity to return to the competition.
The chefs were tasked with creating a three-course meal, including a crunchy, creamy, and chewy dish. Begoña immediately claimed the chewy one, leaving Luciana with crunchy and Dale with creamy. Unknowingly, the Spain and Brasil winners chose to make squab, but Begoña’s dish stood out as the favorite as her sauce impressed judge Tom Colicchio.

“I really deserved to be eliminated,” admits Begoña Rodrigo after her ouster from “Top Chef” in the episode “Holiday Vacation.” “I tried all the dishes from all of my colleagues, and the worst one was mine. I’m disappointed with myself. This round of “Lck” will be decisive. As host and judge Tom Colicchio explains, this will be a two-part battle to decide who gets back into the competition. But this challenge doesn’t relate directly back to the one Rodrigo lost, which involved a family-style holiday home-cooked feast. Instead, the three chefs have 30 minutes to work together on a three-course menu using three textures.

For Top Chef Season 20, contestants who competed in international versions of the Bravo cooking competition show, including many who won or finished in the finals, returned for World All-Stars. By episode 3, four chefs have been eliminated from the main competition. However, they can win their way back into the game by competing in Last Chance Kitchen. Two chefs have already been officially eliminated.
Samuel Albert is the first officially eliminated from ‘Top Chef: World All-Stars’
Top Chef: France winner Samuel Albert was the first eliminated when he failed to deliver in the vegetable-forward dish challenge. He faced Top Chef: Portland finalist Dawn Burrell in the first episode of Last Chance Kitchen as her crispy rice cut her from the main competition.
The two were tasked with recreating their former winning dishes using the same protein in 30 minutes. Sam decided to incorporate his Japanese French fusion into the salmon-based dish, but the time constraint concerned him.

The two were tasked with recreating their former winning dishes using the same protein in 30 minutes. Sam decided to incorporate his Japanese French fusion into the salmon-based dish, but the time constraint concerned him.

I’m not sure how I feel about Canadian “Top Chef” alum Dale MacKay on “Top Chef: World All-Stars.” In the latest episode of “Last Chance Kitchen,” following his double elimination with May Phattanant Thongthong in season 20, episode three, “Cheeky Pints and Pub Bites,” he shows a confident swagger, but I wonder if he owns the decisions he made that led them to being eliminated in the first place. Watch above and let us know what you think.
“I don’t hold anything against May,” says MacKay. “I’m upset at myself. I didn’t take more of an aggressive leadership role.” Thongthong counters, “I asked Dale to do something more special, but he just wanted to do something safe.” It’s true that Thongthong was the one who chose the Scotch egg as their dish, but it was MacKay who insisted on the straightforward, no-frills preparation that ultimately got...

After the elimination of Dawn Burrell at the end of “Rice, Rice Baby,” the remaining 14 “Top Chef” contestants know that nobody is safe. “Second week, and we lose a very good chef,” laments Sylwia Stachyra. But there’s no rest for the weary in season 20, episode 3, “Cheeky Pints and Pub Bites.”
The 14 remaining competitors playing for the $250,000 grand prize are Ali Ghzawi (Middle East and North Africa), Sara Bradley (Kentucky), Charbel Hayek (Middle East and North Africa), Victoire Gouloubi (Italy), Dale MacKay (Canada), Sylwia Stachyra (Poland), Luciana Berry (Brazil), May Phattanant Thongthong (Thailand), Begoña Rodrigo (Spain), Buddha Lo (Houston), Tom Goetter (Germany), Gabriel Rodriguez (Mexico), Amar Santana (California), and Nicole Gomes (Canada).
“We have a little surprise for you,” says Tom Colicchio, who talks to the gathered chefs with his fellow judge Gail Simmons. “There’s no Quickfire tomorrow.” A sense of dread rises in the room. “That’s a good thing!

“I’m just sorry about Dawn. Second week and we’re losing a very good chef,” says Sylwia Stachyra after the elimination of Dawn Burrell in “Top Chef” episode two, “Rice, Rice Baby.” Begoña Rodrigo, adds, “Watching people from everywhere here in London, for me it’s f*cking amazing.” The 14 remaining chefs in the competition bond in a special sneak preview clip from the next episode on Bravo. But they don’t have much time to relax. Watch the video above.
The chefs discuss the cultural experience they’re sharing, and Stachyra addresses the uncertainty in the world. “I’m from the city which is 80 kilometers from Ukraine,” she explains. “When the war started we cooked the food, we gave our furniture, our clothes, everything we had … I’m happy that I had the family who supported me. I always have a place to come back. This is amazing...
