A great episode from a promising show

Norm MacDonald Has a Show is not a show you go for in depth analysis on the life and careers of it's guests. It's got some of that, but you're really there to enjoy Norm's irreverent and bizarre personality, and watch him interact with other strong personalities and see how it all shakes out. He's a comedic genius, a real comic's comic, and knows precisely how to play it subtle and play it loud, how to be stupid and be clever, and he knows that even the dumbest jokes have redeeming qualities.

While other episodes of the Netflix run have been very good, such as Jane Fonda, Drew Barrymore, and Judge Judy, this one with Chevy Chase is the pick of the litter. The absolute joy you can sense from Adam as he meets one of the comedy greats, and how Norm and Chevy play off each other, makes the chemistry just a good time. Chevy shows that, despite the talk about him being a nightmare-person and totally unreasonable to work with, he's a master of his craft, and can command a laugh at a moments notice. Norm and Chevy are both such effortlessly great comedians that this episode is full of laughs and fascinating moments, and for every great story, there's a good laugh. This proves that Norm MacDonald has what it takes to host a talk show, more so than just about any of the jokers hosting late night TV on network television. No disrespect to Kimmel or Colbert, but they just aren't half the comedians that MacDonald is, and I think they'd agree.

Netflix scored on this one, and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

Maybe first interview I've ever seen of Chevy. Whatever else you can say about the guy, he is just naturally funny and it shows in this interview.

Warning: Spoilers
When it comes to comedy kings, chevy chase and norm macdonald rank up there. chevy chase has certainly done more than norm, but i love norm, and i would say at present that norm is actually funnier now than chevy is. and that's the thing...chevy seems to have lost it to a large degree...he certainly has the swagger of a comedy king but is just no longer really funny anymore..and remember, i am a huge huge chevy chase fan...family vacation 1, fletch, caddyshack, that test cheating scene in spies like us...the coke snorting scene in modern problems...one of the greatest comics ever. but his caddyshack story about rodney giving a bag of seeds instead of weed fell flat...really flat....and then he was really rude to norm's sidekick when he ripped on his sidekick for jumping into the convo...chevy was joking, but it really wasn't funny but awkward and the sidekick seemed dejected and actually apologetic....and norm had to tolerate it...the whole thing was weak...i think norm is really good...i like his style, and i like that he isn't getting all political like all the other talk show hosts...let's not forget that chevy's talk was bad...i mean really bad...like the worst...but you can see that chevy has this superior attitude which he feels he is entitled to given his accomplishments, but, in the end, it's just no funny...his time has passed..he needs to find a charity to hang his hat on and do some good and leave the laffs to the current pros.
