Another travelogue episode

Is is just me or are The Simpsons now going to do a country by country travel channel? This would be the fourth or fifth so far. I have never visited Copenhagen, but I have spent time in Scandinavia. I have enjoyed both Finland and Norway and the lack of poverty is striking.

Normal Simpsons humor and quips. I do have one complaint. Why do they have to propagate the lie that Nordic countries are somehow suffering due to generous social benefits? Americans are fed this pap all the time when, in fact, we need a lot more Socialist policies and programs in this country.

They're shoveling against the tide, however, younger people know that unbridled Capitalism is destroying the United States.

Well good commercial for Denmark and basically that's all? Didn't see anything more interesting.

Great Dane

Warning: Spoilers
Not a bad episode of The Simpsons, although it kind of came across as a bit too pro-forma and was more gentle in its depiction of a foreign culture, compared to the one where the Simpsons visited Japan in Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo, released nearly 20 years before Throw Grampa from the Dane.

Anyway, the Danish stereotypes were kind of funny, although I wonder if they got things mixed up (for example the build your own furniture) with Sweden but maybe to the Simpsons writers they're kind of all the same.

The idea of state medical care was something too good to pass up, and at least Grampa got some resolution.

Once upon a time, The Simpsons was the funniest, cleverest show on TV

....and that was at least 20 years ago. During "Throw Grampa From the Dane" I chuckled once. Once. The episode may appeal to the "America sucks, Trump sucks, socialism is great" crowd, seeing as that's basically all it was until that half-assed one-liner at the very end, which, I'm guessing the target audience either missed or won't remember. Sorry, Mr. Groening but The Simpsons ain't what it used to be, and tonight's propaganda piece was, for lack of a better term, the polar opposite of "groin-grabbingly good".

Propaganda against socialism
jsuknewsofficial26 August 2018
At a time when we in the UK are fighting to stop the privatization of our NHS, a plot involving scamming free health care systems is not really enjoyable to me, but that doesn't stop here. They mock just about every nice socialist aspect of Denmark and not in any real biting satire way. Made for republican Fox viewers to get a few cheap laughs and cheer on the fact that the USA doesnt have free health care for all. Also the plot twist at the end was lame and annoying. A bad episode. I can take shots at the cultures and things I like, if they are funny. The jokes here aren't and just serve as a machine for pro conservatism.
