Megan Fox is famously beautiful of course, but she's just so unenthusiastic and monotone it makes it kind of boring. The subject matter is reasonably interesting though. Some of the beliefs and theories are a bit out there for me, but to each their own. It's still fun to learn about new things and other's beliefs.

A mix of science and pseudo-science, LEGENDS OF THE LOST fits in neatly with other shows in the vein such as ANCIENT ALIENS and Josh Gates's DESTINATION TRUTH. The main problem with this program is the host, Megan Fox.

Ms. Fox spends her screen time flashing vacant expressions and fidgeting as if bored. The narration is flat and unsure, sounding as if it's coming from a high school student narrating her first film project. But the narration is delivered by an experienced actor, so what's going on? Only the producers know, because they evidently didn't ask Ms. Fox to act as if she doesn't belong in the cardboard personality club with Jessica Biel and Emily Ratajkowski. In any case, an episode or two of LEGENDS OF THE LOST will only remind viewers how important an engaging narrator is for telling the story. Looking at you, Josh Gates.

A lot of potential, fun, interesting but also too American
namob-4367330 December 2018
I really enjoyed these episodes. Megan felt a little out of place during the first episode checking out Vikings, but she has a very nice narrating voice and you can clearly see she get more and more used to her role over the episodes.

They touch on a lot of fun, and slightly, controversial topics. I especially enjoyed the sound waves and the guest appearance of Graham Hancock.

Negative is that the episodes feel too short, and they have that typical American repeat and camera moves to make the "not interesting" more interesting. It is very typical sensational focus and at times have more of a game show or Baseball commentator feel to it. I can deal with that though, but since they never dig really deep into the topics and they more just pass over several very interesting things, the show feels incomplete.

I give the show 7/10, which is frankly a little bit too much, but I like this and there is a lot more potential here. I hope they bring Megan back, dig a little bit more and deeper and focus slightly more on the facts and I think this can be a great addition to travels, history and myth.

I recommend.

Excellent series that pose many questions with honesty
jadedtwisted26 December 2018
I stumbled upon this show by accident and was impressed with the content. Megan Fox does a commendable job as a novice and amateur investigating and providing alternative ideas into the past.

Many of the suppositions are provided by archaeologists and other scholars who have challenged main stream interpretations of past events.

not the same old British dudes
SnoopyStyle12 May 2019
Actress Megan Fox is looking into ancient history with new eyes. It's on the Travel channel which speaks to the expertise expected from the actress. It's not on the Discovery channel or History channel. There are four episodes so far; Viking Women, Stonehenge, America, and The Trojan War. While I accept the days of only old British white guys are fading, it's still hard to take Megan Fox seriously. Before this, the only archaeology I see her tackling is Lara Croft. It's not an easy marriage. Having said all that, I see the niche this show is trying to carve out. It works to some extent but it's problematic in other areas.

Of the four shows, I like the Trojan War the most. It's not necessarily digging up anything new. It is nice to see the same old pictures with new eyes. I can certainly understand that not everyone would know that Troy was a real place or anything about the Hittites. I like the info if not necessarily the presentation. As for the American episode, I have only one big issue; giants. I can't believe that she zeroed in on Giants. Giants... For Heaven's Sake. For Stonehenge, I like the concentration on sound but it veers too much into crystals, healing, and new age thinking. Could it be a faith-based healing center? It's possible like many of today. I just find Megan trying to push too hard when the evidence is scarce. In the Viking episode, she goes all out looking for Viking Women Warriors. In the end, she makes a reasonable case but it would be more convincing if she doesn't push the narrative right from the start. She needs to discover the idea rather than push the idea. Overall, this is a little different than the standard archaeology show but Fox could still use some more of the standard structures. It pushes its agenda a little too hard.

Great show and presentation by Megan Fox
roel_cyborg13 January 2019
This is really a good series , Megan Fox is also the right choice as she is genuinely interested in the historical ancient and beyond what is known yet . Plus you'll get to know a her in a way that might surprise you !*_*) she is really a smarty too ! Seen all 4 episodes there are some nice on the go discoveries been made . Looks like in this field one does not know what they other has ,and just bringing this together gets it closer or fill in some blanks or double proves something to something that was sort of not legitimatized yet . Anyway its exciting and enjoying every bit out of it , also all this guys working in the fields or behind desks clearly are stoked to chat about this knowledge and glad to see Megan really is enthusiastic and deeply knowledgeable in all this topics specifically . So my advice go see it for yourself and have fun

Meghan Fox is the wrong person
kaliboo-8376616 June 2019
I caught a few episodes of her programme. The woman has zero intellect and should never have done a show...she has no feel for. She's a blank! IQ Nada.

A decent host might help.

Megan Fox couldn't be more disinterested if she tried. The British lady was very engaging and would have been an excellent host. Megan seems like she is bored and wants to be somewhere else.

Such an interesting take on history...
EmmaSimone905 January 2019
This show had me intrigued from the get go and then I just had to watch them back to back.

This show had me question just how much history can change with each new discovery. We are taught history like it's solid fact. When in reality we are probably only dipping into the tip of the iceberg.

Megan is a fantastic host. She's clearly very interested and open to any theory that the various scientists and archeologists throw at her. She comes across like a little kid discovering new things with wonder and amazement. She is a very underrated person who really got flack from the public just because of how she was portrayed in the media.

Not bad entry-level entertainment
pink_floydilia7 July 2021
Megan is a good enough host for this show but I don't think it's her lack of enthusiasm like some have said that make this a bit monotone.

It seems more like the show has tried to follow in the footsteps of shows like Expedition Unknown and Destination Truth, which is a difficult act to follow. This show, which is similar in the sense that they have a mix of science, history and fantasy to boot just seems a little flat in some aspects.

The guests and experts are fine, Megan is fine, but something feels lacking. Maybe it's character? Maybe charisma or passion? Not sure.

That's why it's hard to turn off but I also wouldn't go searching for it.

The best response you've got is WOW?
weelad10 April 2019
The subjects deserve more respect than this. It all feels dreadfully staged and over produced. Too much of her narrating from a script. The constant thumping music and swooshing is ludicrously OTT. Sales of aviator sunglasses will increase I'm sure and she looks good in denim.

A differrent take on the past. A fairy good show on alternate views of history.
SILMARILLI14 December 2018
Not long ago a twenty dollar bill came into my possession were someone had stamped out "IN GOD WE TRUST" and stamped "TRUST IN SCIENCE". I laughed so hard I rolled around on the floor. Virtually all science tells us today as possible was once considered impossible, BY SCIENCE. I grew up with brontosauruses, all the science books said so. To say different was scientific heresy. Today we know there is no such dinosaur. Science got it WRONG.

Megan Fox takes a more spiritual view of the past and present alternate ideas that mainstream science considers heretical, female Viking warriors, Stonehenge a possible healing center, civilizations 12,000 years old or older (science says 5,500 Mesopotamia is the oldest) science ignores the fact that Gobekli Tepe is 11,000 years old.

I really enjoyed the alternate views on history and Megan has great insights on what she sees and show the viewers. Plus she has gotten a lot of inside access to things and people most shows never show. She also has a great narrative voice. I hope the show does sell and recommend it to all those who quest for the true science gets wrong time after time.

Dinosaurs crawled around on their bellies, Brontosauruses roamed the earth, all the stars and planets circled the Earth, the human body would be ripped to shreds if it traveled more than 60 MPH, the sound barrier can to be broken, the earth is flat not a round sphere, all these things science has gotten wrong.

Megan Fox is a terrible choice
khaliisaar29 September 2021
The content of the show is interesting but it is so hard on the ears with Megan's monotoned and unenthusiastic voice.

I'm sure the cameraman has a thing for Fox because at every chance the focus is on her face which is absolutely irrelevant to the topic.

Over-scripted and contrived at best. Megan should stick to modelling. Science vs modelling and the artificiality that comes with it...two worlds apart and this is exactly how Megan portrays herself.

Fascinating!
Scot_Rutherford19 December 2018
This is all the super cool stuff that has inspired many of the television shows that center on historical fiction e.g. Vikings, Spartacus, etc), not to mention Indiana Jones. As always Megan Fox is very charming and very easy in the eyes.

Swing and a miss, bad choice for a Host
tonsrescue13 January 2019
The premise of the show is great love the history and science. But Megan is a horrible choice as a host ,very monotone and to busy modeling for the camera instead of listening to the experts. I feel bad for the experts. It's like there having a conversation with a blank wall. I'm not sure if she is incapable of emotion or expression or if she is just that shallow and self centered with a hollow and empty soul , save the show find a new host.A host that's want to be there .

Loved this!
bzxkvjvw25 September 2023
This was a very good mini series I don't get all the hate.. I feel like anything Megan fox does she gets hate for. This was very good and entertaining! I also learned a lot of stuff I didn't know and now I want to learn more about this stuff that she covered in the four episodes! The only thing I would have wanted was more episodes I get it's a mini series but I wish they could've made it like 10 episodes because it was a very good show! I love to learn new things and I also like Megan fox so this was also another reason I liked this show. I think now I will do some research because I want to know more! Def watch this mini series!

The wrong presenter
skinbobrabbit12 January 2019
Whilst I've nothing against Megan Fox, I'm sure she may very well be a beautiful and pleasant person, the decision to employ her to present a series of historical documentaries is something I can't fathom. It just doesn't make sense. Is it an attempt to grab the attention of younger viewers or does she have a genuine interest in international history and this is her new career path? Aside all that, it's not all bad. It's certainly more watchable than The Curse of Oak Island.

Starting next week, Jennifer Aniston features in a new documentary series about trout farming in the Scottish Highlands.

Interesting tv show, not interesting actress
biky-693622 August 2020
Everything is great here except Megan Fox, you need to substitute her with another actor/actress, it's hard to watch episodes with her, she definitely doesn't fit for this tv program

Contrived
mrkharvel-254-2330685 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
They make the amazing "discovery" that women were equals in viking society. While I've never read anything to indicate otherwise, apparently this show is about the "revolutionary" discovery that women could be warriors and traders in viking society. Despite this flaw, the production values are reasonable, Meagan offers some personal insights and the scenery is breathtaking.

Watch Megan Fox look pretty and hold a flashlight
arborges-mitchell13 January 2019
This show might be good if they had a host that showed some enthusiasm for the material. She only seems to care when the most wacky theories roll out.

weirdest thing ever
Abritathome6 March 2020
I just find this weird, its presented by some animatronic, not a very good one at that, the face doesnt seem to move and the vacant flat narration is again weird. What next, youth hostelling with Chris Eubank?

Brilliant idea
cosmin152 August 2020
Hey, let's make a narcissistic, brain dead, botoxed bimbo host of a science show! What can go wrong? Nothing really if you want to ditch your current audience and tap into the massive black hole watching the afternoon fake "reality shows".

One star because Megan Fox is in it
clivejamesrd22 January 2020
And she's total eye candy. But no more than one star, also because Megan is in it. She's a foxymoron, see, and the moron part disqualifies her as narrator for a project that needs to bring some intellectual chops to bear. I'm so sorry, Megan, but I don't love you for your brain. Come to think of it, dunno anyone who does. Do series where you cavort a bit, and you'd be on point.
