The 'b' story should have been the focus
CubsandCulture19 October 2021
The material around Dean returning and the search for the spear is perfunctory and at this point in the show it is rather predictable how the brothers fighting will go. Yes it was nice checking in Jody and the other story developments were nice to see. But the focus of this episode isn't the interesting story.

Instead the 'b' story of Jack learning to think like a hunter is a lot more compelling and novel. (despite a de-powered Jack is a reworking of a de-powered Cas). This is one of Jack's best stories in season 14; I wish the episode flipped the 'a' and 'b' stories around.

Wayward Sisters

Warning: Spoilers
If the rumors are true that the "Supernatural" spin off featuring Jodi Mills and her young group of female hunters was taken out of production to give us a reboot (unwanted) of "Charmed" then it is truly a tragedy.

I understand the biz, "Charmed" had a recognizable brand name and only a handful of fans would know what "Wayward Sisters" was about simply going by name. Still the characters established in "Supernatural" are solid and worthy of show of their own. The reboot of "Charmed" is reportedly flawed in more ways than one.

I am happy so far with this season. Amazing really to think that after all these years the show still has life and potential for more. Sure, a few seasons after the planned 5 stumbled, but since 10 onward it has picked up. I do not even mind that they (again) resurrected Bobby as he is an alt-world Bobby!

Maybe there's still some hope

Warning: Spoilers
I must say that after the disastrous start of the season that was episode 1, I had almost lost my last hope. Episode 2 was a bit better, but still far from OK (though I liked a lot the cinematography in the final scene when Dean appears, those red light eerie shots were awesome). But I personally liked this episode, it gave me hope that maybe Supernatural is not yet entirely lost.

I appreciated the fact that Michael was only mentioned and not actually present as it reminded me of the good ol' days, when Supernatural episodes were much simpler, with Sam and Dean fighting a regular monster, without having an overpowered super villain lurking in the shadows. I liked the Jack/Castiel arc, they were dealing with a girl that was enchanted by a witch (just like Sam and Dean would in the glorious past) and Jack finally learned that he can be helpful and save lives even without having his powers, he realized how important brains are (in opposition to what Dean had told him, that he weighs 100 pounds soaking wet and all) and that he must not entirely rely on muscles. Maybe now we're not gonna see him whining about not being a Nephilim anymore.

Jody still kicks ass and I liked a lot that I haven't seen any SJW cr*p in this episode as she got punched like a man and also her arm got broken, despite being a woman. Equality is the answer, kudos to that!

The Kaya character is pretty awesome, love her cool movements with her spear, some of them seem ripped out of a computer game. And it's nice to see that she's not evil, or not as evil as I thought. Another thing that worked for me was the absence of Bobby (who should have stayed dead) and Mary (who never should have been brought back) in this episode. Looking forward to what twists we might get, even though perhaps they should wrap it up this season.

Hooded figure
shwetafabm6 August 2020
Last season the bad place was intriguing and i was waiting to find more about the hooded figure. She is very very cool. Dean and now also Jack's whole whiny persona is going to be a drag. As for Dean this show needs to give him some character development, how long is he going to be stuck in this place where when something happens to him he gets all bossy and feels all punchy.

Still waiting for this to get better

I love this show when it focuses on Sam and Dean. Right now we have Lucifer, Jack, Cass, the mom, Bobby, Jodi and her issues, and a bunker full of people. Half of these characters seem out of place right now. Bobby was my favorite character after the Winchester bros, and they got nothing for him. Lucifer/Nick should be gone, stop bringing people back and crowding the field.

All good hings must end someday

This was one of the worst episodes, which made me think that characters and strories have all finished with poor acting and bad storytelling. It may be worthwhile to consider to finish this nice saga, we have been following for years with good memories.
