Wolfgang Puck on steroids
bkoganbing26 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Holly Robinson Peete is having on her local station cooking show celebrity chef Chad Willet. Willet is kind of a Wolfgang Puck on steroids. Great chef that he is he is also one arrogant egotistical piece of work.

Willet also has a bit of scandal trailing him, he was implicated in another murder years ago but was acquitted. Now all the scandal hounds are smelling blood in the water.

Peete has every reason to see this one gutted and fried, Willet plans to open up a restaurant in competition with her's. But she thinks him innocent of a new murder which has her ex-husband Rick Fox looking hard at Willet as the doer.

No more will I say other than what Peete uncovers nearly gets her killed as well. I will say there's someone out there with one nasty grudge against our bad boy celebrity chef.

Hallmark mystery fans will like this one.

Good

Being a Hallmark movie, this mystery comes with my usual cheese warning. This is especially evident when we see Ian's pre-teen daughter. On the other hand, there is something so sweet about the scenes she is in that it is hard to object. Just know it is coming when you sit down to watch, and you'll be fine.

One final warning, they spoil the first movie in the first few minutes of this one, so if you haven't seen it and care, you'll definitely want to watch it before you see this one.

Murder on the Menu is a fun second mystery with these characters. If you enjoyed the first film, you'll definitely enjoy revisiting them. James Welch Henderson Arkansas 4/17/2021.

Ignore the ugly reviews
shobbs-8608123 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is not the best nor is it the worst of the Hallmark Mysteries, so ignore the terribly bad reviews. It's ok and interesting and has some wonderful touches that redeem the obvious flaws (such as, the disabled perp that miraculously gets out of the car into his wheelchair in time to corral our heroine as she tries to escape.) Just a question to ponder: wonder if some of these very negative reviews have anything to do with the race of the leads?

Clean, fun, cozy mystery!
sageonelove18 August 2018
This is the second one in this series I've watched and I was not disappointed. Fun characters, a budding romance and a who done it mystery, set in a lovely town, make this a pleasant relaxing entertainment. I had a lovely evening watching it.

Kudos to Hallmark MM & Holly
bcwood6223 January 2019
I just have to say kudos because the Detective/love interest is 5 years younger than Holly! It seems women age out much more quickly than male actors. So yeah to Hallmark for putting an actress with a younger man. The show is typical HMM fair. If you enjoy the other movie series, you will like this one too.

What's that bad smell?
Ed-Shullivan13 June 2019
If this Morning Show Mystery: Murder on the Menu is what the producers are cooking as a mystery series, I can tell you that there is no mystery here just a terrible smell and lots of smoke without substance from the stove top burning.

Actress Holly Robinson Peete plays a gourmet chef named Billie whose passion is more in crime solving than running a restaurant. My opionion is that Billie needs to spend less time out on the street vainly trying to act as a cutesy wutesy amateur sleuth, and more time displaying some vagueness of being a top rated chef. In any event cook and/or crime solver this kitchen curio stinks to HIGH heaven.

Not worth more than a 2 out of 10 rating. Hey what's that bad smell?????

Tedious, dull acting
hilary_mae-912-8056128 July 2018
I have not been able to enjoy this series at all, and this is another demonstration of why. Holly Peete and Rick Fox cannot act in dramatic roles. Both are good at giving each other warm knowing looks, but that's about it. Their acting is shallow and passionless. Holly has a gun pointed at her and her reaction is on par with a late breakfast. Boring, dull and no emotion. Heck if I had a gun pointed at me I would at least my eyebrows in alarm. With Holly, nothing.

Sorry, but Holly cannot act.

Ian Fox is not able to portray depth either. HIs lines are punishingly few, so one wonders what the producers expect him to do with them. Either way, the result is a flat, dull character. As they gave his character a family member to live with him, perhaps that will bring his character out of a coma.

The only actors with some life are Karen Robinson as the aunt, the man who plays the character with her and the dog.

I couldn't make it through. I finally fast forwarded it to the end and then happily ended my pain.

I honestly am amazed this was aired
CriticalRaccoon17 March 2020
When sitting around with family someone for some reason turned this on. To say I was mystified was an understatement.

I get that Hallmark likes to release a dozen of these types of series a year based on some lady budding her way into crime investigations who works in a usually unrelated field, but this one is easily the worst I've seen. It just seems like the entire main cast doesn't want to be there.

The acting was wooden and lines were delivered in the flattest way possible. The plot depends on the bad guys being idiots and relies on so many overused Hallmark mystery tropes that I called the bad guy and their accomplices within 2 seconds. Seriously, why is it that the bad guys explain their entire plan, never shoot the hero and then trip over something just as the cops arrive?

Seriously, stick with the better Hallmark mysteries that have stars that look like they want to be there.

The only saving grace I found with this, other than it being hypnotizingly bad, was that some of the supporting actors were having a good time.

Don't waste your time

As boring as they come. I've seen second grade plays with better acting. Holly always comes off as flat and emotionless with the acting depth of cardboard. I agree with other reviewers - she just can't act. I'm not sure why Hallmark keeps trying to find new venues for her. She's a turn off for me. Mr Fox isn't any better. The only really good actor in this train wreck is David Lewis. I'd watch anything he's in. He's delightful.

Change the channel before I gouge my eyes and ears out
Cilica2 August 2019
Fairy-tale meet nosy, I'm in your business show host to help you solve the murder because I know everyone connected to the murder....meets bad writing and bad acting. I've watched a couple but by the third one I am ready to scream.

These movies are not 'bad enough to watch'. Instead it is turn that damn channel off now. My favourite aspect are the pauses that make no sense. Or why does a 10 year old girl want taste test of cupcakes - for my sanity's sake they are only vanilla, chocolate or red velvet to taste. Nothing you cannot get at the grocery store...so whats up with you being an award winning baker...yes all part of the fairy-tale.

Don't make any more, stop now.

How many times can they say Primo?
kstrkell10 April 2021
The answer is possibly north of 5000 times. What a terrible series. Terrible writing. Terrible acting. And it drags out clocking in at over 2 hours. TERRIBLE.

Can't believe they made more than one in this series
jlynn-2568613 May 2019
Sorry, but main actress just plain stinks. Same expression on her face through the entire movie. Plus, her wig was so obviously a wig, it was embarrassing. All in all, it made it hard to watch any scene she was in. Other actors were fine but entire movie itself was a snore. I can't believe they actually made more than one in this series. Don't waste your time!

Holly Can't Save It.
johne-5595224 June 2020
So like the other reviews say, Holly Robinson is about the only reason to watch this. The writing is truly awful (even for a Hallmark movie) and some of the other actors are pretty bad, particularly the male lead who must be an athlete(?) Certainly not an actor by any stretch of the imagination.

I made it through two of these but I think that's it for me. I enjoyed catching up with Holly again but wish she'd find something a little more worth watching.

Not Very Exciting
carolynocean4 May 2021
This movie really disappointed . So slow and pretty boring.

Let me put it this way..............Monotone voices , expressionless faces , and stiff dialogue.

I like both lead characters , but unfortunately it just does'nt seem to work , no chemistry , all a bit stilted .

This is one of Hallmarks weaker offerings .

Far fetched casting
fredsawyers-1854818 June 2022
I give this one star due to the guy playing the murdered suspects is only two years older than him. And despite the fact they have added gray to hair and a few wrinkles to his face, he looks younger than the guy he's playing the father to. You'd think with all the actual actors who would have been old enough to play the father they could have cast one of those. This just goes to show Hallmark wants to use nothing but good-looking fit looking people for any and all roles.
