- Jean Negus Péralte has been physically abused by the police, and the judicial system who let his abusers free are now preparing to arrest him. To right these wrongs he will use the gun. He is now in a fight against the corrupt system.
- Jean Negus Péralte and girlfriend Nehunda are a typical, loving, African American couple who live in Brooklyn. They enjoy every facet of the city but soon are confronted by the ugly side of the city. One day at a house party, neighbors called 911 due to loud hip hop music. Rogue police officers entered the house to confront the party goers. When Nehunda tried to defuse the situation she was brutally accosted. When Jean intervened, he was assaulted and arrested. He was vilified by the media and the judicial system let his abusers free. Jean is haunted by disturbing nightmares over the incident and doesn't know where to turn. With his life in complete turmoil he turns advice from various figures in his life, including his father Sauk and the mysterious Mike/Khalid. With the Orisha deities on his side, Jean ultimately decides to get revenge on the corrupt system, righting wrongs by using his gun. He kidnaps police officer Oliver Brelo and tortures him until deciding what his comeuppance should be. He also confronts the threat of a young violent thug in his neighborhood. The film ends on an ambiguous note.—Dante Jayce
