Quotes

  • Supergirl : So, what did your partners want with the fission rods?

Manchester Black : Go ahead, tell her what you told me.

    Col : I don't know anything.

Supergirl : [Manchester roughly grabs his lapel]  Hey, hey. That is not how we do things.

    [to the Child of Liberty]

Supergirl : Look, you're getting in the back of a police car anyway, so just tell us the truth.

Col : I swear, I don't know any more. I said I wanted to help, and they gave me two options. I could show up here and steal some fission rods, or hang out waiting for some cargo shipment.

Supergirl : [sharing a look with Manchester, then to a nearby patrol cop]  We're done here.

  • Manchester Black : Hey, partner. Wait up.

Supergirl : Look, I-I appreciate what you're doing, but I can take it from here.

Manchester Black : Look, Agent Liberty took everything from me. I will do anything to see him brought to justice. Anything. Just let me help. I'm resourceful. I tracked them here, didn't I?

Supergirl : I'll call you if I find anything.

  • J'onn J'onzz : I, uh, thought you might be re-heating, so I brought wings.

Kara Danvers : Oh, come on.

Alex Danvers : Oh, thank god.

    [to Kara]

Alex Danvers : Uh, no offense.

    Kara Danvers : Offense taken.

  • [last lines]

    Kara Danvers : Hey.

[seeing J'onn has something on his mind]

    Kara Danvers : What's up?

    J'onn J'onzz : I failed.

[she holds him as he cries]

J'onn J'onzz : I was wrong. I was wrong. Manchester, uh... he killed all of them. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.

  • Alex Danvers : Hey, I have to show you something.

Supergirl : Uh, okay, in a minute. Brainy, I need you to track...

Querl Dox : Missing alien fission rods? Already on it.

Supergirl : Great. And I need to track any rogue cargo ship...

Ben Lockwood : [Alex shows Kara her tablet]  Ladies and gentlemen, you are watching "The Lockdown with Ben Lockwood."

Supergirl : What is that man doing on TV?

Alex Danvers : I told you I needed to show you something.

  • Ben Lockwood : And I'm sorry to say we're going to start tonight's show on a very somber note, because on Thanksgiving night, five men peacefully protesting the alien takeover of their home planet went missing.

Man on the Street : Roaches think they can just blow us out of the water whenever they want. They see Supergirl flying around, rounding up innocent people.

    Supergirl : They're blaming me.

Ben Lockwood : Is Supergirl a hero? Or is she the seed that may very well cause the eradication of the human race?

    Supergirl : [insulted]  What?

Alex Danvers : Hey. Hey, you saved hundreds of people on Thanksgiving. And we don't even know if aliens were involved in the disappearances. We're still investigating.

  • Supergirl : J'onn, what's happening?

J'onn J'onzz : Hi. I just got a call from Manchester Black. Said you two were working on something? He wanted me to give you a message. Something about a cargo shipment.

Supergirl : Really? Send me the details.

  • Supergirl : [holographic recording]  Welcome to Earth. You are about to processed for immigration. The island will dampen your powers, but rest assured, they'll return as soon as you leave. Earth is a friendly place. You are safe here. Welcome to Shelley Island.

  • Supergirl : Thanks for the tip. So what's this code you've cracked?

Manchester Black : [leading her through a maze of shipping containers]  Follow me. Once I realized that little weasel in the energy factory gave us everything we needed, the rest was easy.

    Supergirl : DISL label.

Manchester Black : International standard codes for ID and freight containers. I nicked the logs from the shipyard foreman, did a little cross-referencing and found our prize. So, shall we see what's behind door number one?

Supergirl : [opening the container]  It's empty. And freezing. Whatever was shipped in here was kept sub-zero.

Manchester Black : Yeah, now it's gone without a trace.

    Supergirl : Maybe not.

[she uses her x-ray vision and spots something underneath the container]

Supergirl : It's part of a shipping label.

    [seeing he's not there]

    Supergirl : Manchester?

  • Supergirl : [catching Manchester threatening an unarmed man]  Hey, hey! Hey! Whoa! What are you doing?

Manchester Black : He's the supervisor. He must know where that shipment was headed.

[kicking the man's feet out from under him]

Manchester Black : Where did it go?

Supergirl : [restraining him]  Stop! Stop. He can't speak through your fist.

Manchester Black : [the man scurries away]  Well done. Now he's gonna go call the cops.

Supergirl : I don't care. You could've broken his jaw. We don't hurt innocent people. What is wrong with you?

Manchester Black : Okay, look, sorry. Sometimes I just get a little... I had a rough couple of months.

Supergirl : Yeah, well, maybe you should take a few more and cool down.

  • Alex Danvers : Hey.

[seeing Kara remove a burned pan from the oven]

Alex Danvers : Oh, my. Um, I don't think you can cook a turkey four different times.

Kara Danvers : It's accumulating flavor.

  • Alex Danvers : Listen, Brainy called on my way over here. He's still running tests on the label that you brought back from the shipyard. But they did find the missing bodies of the Children of Liberty. And there was no evidence they were killed by aliens. But this was personal. Busted skulls, broken jaws, in addition to gunshot wounds.

    Kara Danvers : Broken jaws.

    [a thought strikes her]

Kara Danvers : Do you think brass knuckles could cause that much damage?

Alex Danvers : If they're paired with a strong enough arm, yeah.

  • J'onn J'onzz : I, uh, saw Manchester at the bar when I was grabbing dinner. He wanted me to tell you how sorry he was.

Kara Danvers : J'onn, you told me Manchester was on the path of peace, like you.

J'onn J'onzz : Uh, we share a similar struggle, yeah. So I understand how much he wants to feel like he's doing something, and how hard it is for him to resist his more... violent urges.

Kara Danvers : You don't think he's capable of killing five Children of Liberty, do you?

J'onn J'onzz : I mean, he is angry. But under that anger is just a lot of pain. Fiona's death just rocked him. Manchester has a good heart. I'm not ready to give up on him just yet. I mean, he's been on our side every step of the fight. He's resourceful, and stubborn. And if he wants something, he'll go after it. He could be useful.

  • Manchester Black : I thought you wanted nothing to do with me.

Supergirl : Yeah. But I spoke to J'onn, and he said I should give you another chance.

    [offering a wrapped plate]

Supergirl : It's a pot pie. It comes in peace.

  • Supergirl : I never got the chance to meet Fiona. But J'onn tells me she was... remarkable.

    Manchester Black : She was.

Supergirl : I know you want justice for her. I wanna help you find that.

  • Supergirl : Brainy, what is it? Did we get a hit on the contents of the container?

Querl Dox : The label itself was too destroyed to interpret. But I found the residue on it to be 80% glue, and 9.73% ink. The rest was Nalcyite.

Supergirl : What is that? Is it dangerous?

Querl Dox : It's Nalcian table salt. However, on Earth, it could be quite volatile. Under the right circumstancess, it has an explosive factor of 8,000 joules per gram, or that of a tiny, precise nuclear explosion.

  • Supergirl : I should get back to the DEO.

Manchester Black : No, wait. The DEO is already on it looking for that bomb. So maybe you and I can crack something here. Your friend said he'll cal if he find something, right?

  • Manchester Black : I keep coming across this problem. The container was empty when we got to it, which means they had to get rid of the cargo somewhere. But the logs say the shipment just arrived. They didn't have time to unload there or to make land at any other docks.

Supergirl : At least not on the mainland. They had to have stopped at an island. That's... that's the only way. The missing alien fission rods are...

    [realizing]

Supergirl : They're on Shelley Island.

Manchester Black : That's where Fi came through. I thought it was defunct.

Supergirl : It was, but it runs on alien fission rods, just like the ones that were stolen.

Manchester Black : They turned the island back on.

  • Supergirl : I have to alert the DEO.

Manchester Black : Wait. Hey, look, if this is their home base, and they're planning something, Agent Liberty will be there.

Supergirl : Exactly. That's why we need backup.

Manchester Black : No, it's why we need to be smart. A guy like that can smell the DEO a mile away. If we go in blazing, he'll hit the trigger, or worse. We need to sneak in on the hush. No big guns. You know, your way.

Supergirl : Okay. But there are power-dampening pylons on the island. We have to be careful. But luckily, I always come prepared.

    [showing him a small grenade]

Supergirl : It's a yellow sun grenade to boost my powers. Think of it like a Kryptonian multivitamin.

Manchester Black : Hmm. Can I see that?

Supergirl : [handing it over]  Yeah.

Manchester Black : [inspecting it, then handing it back]  Brilliant. I knew I'd do right teaming up with you.

  • Manchester Black : [landing on Shelley Island]  Wow. It's beautiful.

Supergirl : Yeah. You should've seen this place when it was fully operational.

Manchester Black : There's the power dampeners.

[Kara throws the sun grenade through, and they pass through the barrier; feeling weak, she gasps for air]

Manchester Black : [as they're surrounded by Children of Liberty, he reveals he removed the grenade's core]  Sorry, Supergirl. I saw an opportunity. My new mates here promised me an audience with their king. So I delivered.

  • Supergirl : You set me up? All this time, you were playing me? Why?

Manchester Black : Pain is a great motivator. I told you I'd do anything.

    [flashback]

Manchester Black : You must be Caldwell. Petrocelli said I could trust you.

Caldwell : You get us Supergirl, and you get to meet the boss.

Manchester Black : All right, gentlemen, you know the deal. This has to look legit. And you, don't pull the trigger until we hear her.

[as the scene returns to the present, Supergirl is restrained with iron chains]

Manchester Black : All right, then. As the, uh, roaches say, take me to your leader.

  • James Olsen : My name is James Olsen. And I believe in the Children of Liberty, and everything they stand for. Only humans belong on Earth.

    Supergirl : [faintly]  James!

    [he turns the bomb on]

    Supergirl : James!

    [the bomb is activated]

    Supergirl : JAMES!

  • Supergirl : James, come on, see me!

James Olsen : [preparing to detonate the bomb]  I do this in the name of humanity.

Supergirl : [faintly, as he notices the flashes of light from her heat vision]  JAMES!

    James Olsen : Supergirl?

  • Kara Danvers : What you working on?

James Olsen : Hey. Um... you know, they made me say a lot of things in that camera today. Horrible things that I don't believe in. So I... I just wanna tell my side of the story about my time with the Children of Liberty.

Kara Danvers : Yeah, I've been thinking a lot about that, too. Duality. How people can surprise you. Manchester Black is... is bad. he killed people, he betrayed me, but... but then he turned around to help me.

James Olsen : Well, maybe he wasn't trying to help you. Maybe that was just a consequence.

Kara Danvers : Yeah, I guess people only show you what they want you to see. And that's not always who they are.

James Olsen : Yeah. I mean, look at me. I... I compromised myself today.

Kara Danvers : You saved Tom's life.

James Olsen : But I risked everything I've worked for. Everything. My... my reptuation, my life. Your life. You know, though, I... I guess I kind of understand a little better why Lena lied to me about the D.A. now.

Kara Danvers : You should tell her that.
