  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : They're trying to decide if we're just witnesses or if they have enough to charge us.

  Nancy Drew : The death of Tiffany Hudson.

• Nancy Drew : [pouring Ryan Hudson's wife a glass of wine]  Please tell me this isn't the last box.

  Ace : Sorry, I was thirsty.

  Bess Marvin : I will go check the storeroom.

  Ace : I'm growing on her.

  Nancy Drew : Like a fungus, Ace.

• Chief E.O. McGinnis : [Nancy and her friends were found at a crime scene]  So, what do you five have to say?

  Bess Marvin : I'd ask you to check the cameras in the storeroom, because I'd totally be on there, time-stamped, looking for wine. But we don't have any cameras in the storeroom.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : I was in the ladies' room, and it's a single stall, so yeah... by myself.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : I already said the repair shop was closed. I figured that implied it was empty. That's why I was headed here for dinner.

  Ace : Ryan Hudson can verify my whereabouts. I delivered food to him and his friends when the lights went out. Yeah, since the waitresses were nowhere to be seen. Not that I think they did anything wrong.

  Nancy Drew : I found her. My fingerprints will be on her plate. Other than the person who may have done this, I believe I was the last one to see her alive.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : Ace here has an alibi.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : What?

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : Bring the rest down to the station. Tell Mr. Hudson and his friends they are free to leave.

• Nancy Drew : Karen was totally out of line calling you. I didn't ask for a lawyer.

  Carson Drew : How about a father? You're still living under my roof.

• Nancy Drew : What concerns me is why you aren't questioning Ryan Hudson. In a case like this, you have to look to the husband first.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : [sarcastic]  Thanks for setting me straight. Maybe you can share more of your theories in my office.

• Georgia 'George' Fan : Oh, look who's late. Getting to be a habit.

  Nancy Drew : Sorry.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : As I'm sure you're aware, this isn't high school. You work for me now.

  Nancy Drew : Super aware, George. 100% total awareness every time you bring it up.

  [narrating] 

  Nancy Drew : George Fan, manager. Former high school classmate, major holder of grudges. One of which is apparently against me.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Drew! Clam chowder, table eight. Gosh...

  Nancy Drew : I'll tell you about it some other time.

• Nancy Drew : There were no signs of trauma, so maybe Tiffany had a health condition or a drug problem. I mean, maybe foul play isn't even involved.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : We're pretty sure it is.

  [he plays the recording of a 911 call, and Nancy hears her own voice] 

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : Where were you when this happened?

  [getting no answer] 

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : Where were you when this happened?

  Nancy Drew : I didn't see anyone. I swear.

  Detective Karen Hart : I believe you, Nancy. Look, I loved your mom like a sister, and I know you wouldn't do this. But a socialite killed on parade night, we... we have to solve this case fast.

  Nancy Drew : [remembering her encounter with the victim]  Her ring. She was wearing it when I first came out, but not when I found her on the ground.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : Yeah, well, someone like Tiffany Hudson would have a very nice ring. Could be a game-changer for anybody. You know, maybe help your dad. Medical bills do add up.

  Nancy Drew : Wow. So now my mom dying is somehow a motive for murder. And I thought you wanted my help. Look, if you're not charging me, then I believe I'm free to go.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : But don't go too far. You're still a suspect. So are your friends.

  Nancy Drew : They're not my friends.

• Nancy Drew : Can we go now? We've told you all we know. We're not suspects.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : I disagree with your opinion. I'm looking at a decent four-pack. Town screwup, ex-con, city girl, and... Nancy Drew.

  Bess Marvin : Why does he say your name like that?

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : She used to complicate my job.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : You mean do it for you?

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : Ah, Miss Fan. I haven't thrown your mom in the drunk tank this month. How's she doing? Say hi. And for the rest of you...

  Bess Marvin : Yeah, it was one count of shoplifting. I never did any hard time.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : Didn't say you did.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : But good to know.

  Chief E.O. McGinnis : By "ex-con," I meant him.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : Happened when I was a minor. Record's sealed, and time served.

  Nancy Drew : You never told me you went to jail.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : One of the many things you never asked about.

  Nancy Drew : Seriously, guys?

  Nancy's Friend #2 : Yeah, you have to put it on there.

  Nancy's Friend #1 : Yeah. You have to put it on the gravestone, or else it's not official. Come on.

  Nancy's Friend #2 : [Nancy puts her tiara on top of the headstone]  Now you're one of them.

  Boyfriend : [jumping out and scaring them]  I totally got you.

  [he and Nancy kiss, and she sees the figure of someone nearby] 

  Boyfriend : Hey, are you all right? Look like you saw a ghost.

  Nancy Drew : [narrating]  But I don't believe in ghosts. I believe in looking for the truth.

  Boyfriend : [she goes to get a closer look]  Hey, where are you going?

  Nancy Drew : My parents called it curiosity. Said I was just born that way. But I know that's not the whole story.

• Nancy Drew : [narrating over her and Nick having sex]  His name is Ned Nickerson, but he goes by Nick, which is definitely the right call. No offense to all the Neds out there. All I know is that when I'm with him, I don't think of anything else, and that's a good thing.

  [out loud as she gets dressed] 

  Nancy Drew : Sorry. I, uh, never do this.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : You say that every time.

  Nancy Drew : Also never thought I'd be wearing this.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : I'm not exactly where I thought I'd be, either. And that would be freshman tailback for University of Florida, which is where I'm from, if you're curious.

  [she finishes tying her shoes] 

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : You don't ask a lot of questions, do you?

  Nancy Drew : What can I say? Girls love mystery.

• Nancy Drew : When a local child went missing, the whole town went looking, but I'm the one who saved her. I found Rose Turnbull behind a hidden staircase. I ended up getting grounded, but it didn't matter. I was hooked. Mysteries were everywhere, and I loved solving them. It was more than just a hobby. It was part of who I was.

• Georgia 'George' Fan : Mr. Hudson, welcome to the Claw. I don't believe that you've been in here before.

  Ryan Hudson : [with a group of friends]  Thank you. We need a, uh, quiet table for a private conversation.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Of course. Right this way.

  [leading them to a booth] 

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Bess, do the fork thing.

  Nancy Drew : [narrating]  Ryan Hudson, heir to his family's business empire, carrying on their tradition of summering in Horseshoe Bay.

  Ryan Hudson : And, uh, can you bring something to my wife? She's outside in the car.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Oh, your wife is here?

  Ryan Hudson : Yeah. Uh, and make sure it doesn't have a bun; um, salt, sauce. Basically anything that makes it taste remotely good.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Got it.

  Bess Marvin : This is your salad fork, and this is your fork for your main course.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : [going over to Nancy]  Wife needs food. I need a minute. Little help, please.

  Nancy Drew : [thinking]  Since when does George need help with anything?

• Nancy Drew : [narrating]  Ace. No last name that I know of. It's part of his whole "Zen and the Art of Dishwashing." But at least he doesn't judge me for tanking my grades last year and bailing on my college applications. Or maybe he forgot I told him about that during one of his smoke breaks.

• Bess Marvin : [Nancy inadvertently recorded a murder on her phone]  Tiffany Hudson, murdered by a ghost.

  Nancy Drew : Okay, you've seen it three times. Can I have it back?

  Georgia 'George' Fan : You're the one who asked for our opinion.

  Nancy Drew : Because I thought you would help me find another explanation.

  Ace : I think my girl Bess nailed it.

  Bess Marvin : Not your girl. Never will be.

  Ace : And not just any ghost. Dead Lucy.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Okay, not sure she's a credible alternative suspect here, Ace.

  Bess Marvin : You all know this ghost?

  Ace : Lucy Sable. She was crowned Sea Queen in the year 2000. Disappeared after the celebration, never seen again. Blood on the rocks, a little scrap of her pink dress.

  Bess Marvin : It's definitely her.

  Nancy Drew : Except definitely not.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Ghosts aren't real, Bess.

  Ace : You guys, Lucy gets blamed for a lot of stuff around here. Kid puts a baseball through a window. Dead Lucy. Wife finds a strange earring in bed, husband blames Lucy. Never had a murder pinned on her, though.

• Georgia 'George' Fan : Welcome to the Claw. Glad that murder didn't affect your appetite.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : I'm just here for coffee. Usually, Nancy brings me one, but this morning, she didn't show. I thought maybe learning about my past might have scared her off.

  Nancy Drew : I thought that you were gonna wait for me at the police station so you could explain...

  [glancing at George] 

  Nancy Drew : ...more fully and in private.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Oh, you had no problem talking about my sex life back in high school.

  Nancy Drew : I never spread any of those rumors.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : No. You just listened to your friends and smiled. Right?

• Bess Marvin : [serving a table of customers]  This is your salad fork, and this is your fork for your main course. Can I interest you in an amuse-bouche?

  Georgia 'George' Fan : [irritably]  I told you, they get one fork. And keep your bouche shut. It amuses no one.

  Nancy Drew : [narrating]  Bess Marvin. Not from around here. As if the Cartier watch and Chanel flats didn't give it away. Taking a gap year from life in the city, crashing with her rich aunt in a mansion by the bluffs...

  [Bess accidentally drops silverware on the floor] 

  Nancy Drew : ..and not a natural at the hospitality game.

• Nancy Drew : [theorizing about Tiffany Hudson's death]  Was either of them on medication? Is there a secret cell phone? Is-is there a new will? A-A post-nup? An insurance policy?

  Ace : Gambling debt. A strange addiction.

  Bess Marvin : I thought you were Team Ghost.

  Ace : I am Team Ghost.

  Nancy Drew : Is the stolen ring evidence of a botched robbery?

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : Or is that what it's supposed to look like?

  Nancy Drew : Exactly.

  [thinking] 

  Nancy Drew : Except I don't do this anymore.

• Nancy Drew : This is it. The home of Ryan and "not killed by a ghost" Tiffany Hudson.

  [she watches Ryan leave in his car and ducks under the garage door before it closes] 

  Nancy Drew : Breaking and entering. Just like riding a bike.

• Nancy Drew : [finding Lucy Sable's bloodstained dress hidden in the attic of her house]  Why is it always the ones you love most who have the most to hide?

• Nancy Drew : [returning home after a fight with her dad]  I'm sure you have a million questions.

  Carson Drew : Nope, only one. I saw who just dropped you off. What are you doing with Ned Nickerson?

  Nancy Drew : What do you know about Nick?

  Carson Drew : More than you do, clearly. Look, I know I've screwed up, let you down, and maybe my words don't mean much to you, but if they mean anything, please listen to me. Stay away from that kid.

  Nancy Drew : Oh, my God. Were you his lawyer?

  Carson Drew : You know I couldn't discuss it, even if I was.

  Nancy Drew : [thinking]  That's totally a yes.

• Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : [after Nancy breaks into Ryan Hudson's home]  I didn't take you for such a badass. You think that guy killed his wife and you break into his house?

  Nancy Drew : Yeah. To try and help our case. What were you doing there, following me?

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : Hearing you talk today, thought you might do something dangerous. And you know what? You're welcome. Because yes, I have a record. And yes, I put myself at risk going in there.

  Nancy Drew : Why?

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : Because it was worth it.

• Nancy Drew : [narrating]  If you ask George Fan for help, she will never let you forget it.

  [out loud] 

  Nancy Drew : So, George... you come from a long line of fishermen.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Also alcoholics and highly fertile teenage moms.

  [Nancy shows her a necklace] 

  Georgia 'George' Fan : That's a mariner's good luck charm.

  Nancy Drew : Yeah, I looked it up online. There's not a lot of info.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Oh. So, you're seeking my expert opinion? Like, I know more than you?

  Nancy Drew : In this limited area of ocean-themed jewelry, yes.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Girlfriends would put messages in the charm. When their guys were out at sea, they would dissolve the seal in saltwater to find the note. Where'd you get it?

  Nancy Drew : [evasively]  In the place where it was being kept. By the person who owned it.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Who owned it?

  Nancy Drew : Tiffany Hudson.

• Nancy Drew : [learning Nick went to prison because of Tiffany Hudson's testimony]  I can't believe I missed the signs. Nick may be a really good kisser, but he's also a real suspect... with a real motive for killing Tiffany Hudson. Revenge. Let's face it, we all have secrets. The truth is, everyone who was at the Claw that night is a suspect.

• Nancy Drew : [thinking as her power goes out]  The last time that happened, it was not good.

• Bess Marvin : [Nancy manages to open Tiffany Hudson's locket]  It works.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Don't sound so surprised. Too bad there's nothing but junk inside.

  Nancy Drew : [thinking, recognizing a seahorse shape from Lucy Sable's grave]  It isn't junk. I've seen this before.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Wait, there's an address on here. 725 Gallows Lane.

  Nancy Drew : [looking it up on her phone]  It's a medium.

  Bess Marvin : Medium what?

  [thinking and connecting the dots] 

  Bess Marvin : Oh! Because Tiffany was being haunted.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Wait. Maybe Tiffany was like Bess. If she believed in ghosts, she could've tried to communicate with one. Or protect herself from one. Even though that's crazy. Also like Bess.

  Nancy Drew : If this medium met with Tiffany for any reason, that's a lead worth following.

• Nancy Drew : I don't think it's a good idea for us to start anything serious. Um... I mean, this time next year, I'll be in college.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : And what? I'll still be here? Fixing boats in Horseshoe Bay, going nowhere fast?

  Nancy Drew : Nick, that's not what I meant.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : [a little hurt]  Yeah, yeah. Maybe you're right.

  Nancy Drew : I'm sorry.

  [he drives off] 

  Nancy Drew : See, this is why it's better not to talk!

• Georgia 'George' Fan : You broke into Ryan's house?

  Nancy Drew : It was a spur-of-the-moment thing.

  Bess Marvin : You stole Tiffany's jewelry?

  Nancy Drew : Coming from the known ex-felon.

  Bess Marvin : It was a misdemeanor, and I'm just saying, I'm impressed.

  Georgia 'George' Fan : Hate to admit it, but so am I.

  Ace : I'm also impressed.

  Nancy Drew : It was in a hidden compartment in Tiffany's nightstand. With a note.

  Bess Marvin : [taking the note]  "For your protection"? From what? And who's "H.G."?

  Georgia 'George' Fan : We gotta crack this thing open. I bet there's a clue inside.

  Nancy Drew : [George walks away]  Where are you going? That's mine.

  Bess Marvin : Technically stolen property.

  Nancy Drew : [thinking]  This is why I work alone.

• Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : When I heard my knee pop, I knew it was over. Scholarships, future, all of it. For a long time, thought my life was done. Maybe things are starting to turn around.

  Nancy Drew : So, was that before or after you went to jail?

  [awkward pause] 

  Nancy Drew : You know what? It's okay. You don't have to tell me now.

  Ned 'Nick' Nickerson : Why? 'Cause girls love mystery?

  Nancy Drew : Because I can wait until you're ready.

• Nancy Drew : All this time, I thought you were devastated, and instead you were hooking up?

  Carson Drew : You're right. I haven't been honest about Karen. I was trying not to upset you, which I realize I still did, so... let's talk about it. Okay? All of it.

  Nancy Drew : There's nothing to talk about. I'll reapply for school and get the hell out of here, and you can get back to your secret life.

• Nancy Drew : [walking in on her dad and Karen kissing]  What the hell?

  Carson Drew : Nancy. Karen was here with evidence that you broke into Ryan Hudson's house.

  Nancy Drew : And as my lawyer, you're willing to do anything to protect me?

  Carson Drew : Don't turn this around on me.

  Detective Karen Hart : Your father is worried about you, Nacy. And so am I. And not just as a police officer, but as a friend.

  Nancy Drew : A friend? Is that what you are? Is that what you were to my mom?

  Carson Drew : This isn't how I wanted you to find out.

  Nancy Drew : Well, that makes two of us.

  Detective Karen Hart : I'm gonna go.

  Nancy Drew : Actually, don't bother. I was just leaving. Need to get myself some new legal representation. If only I could get myself a new father, too!

• Nancy Drew : Come on. Like I was ever seriously considering not opening it.

  [using a screwdriver to open her dad's client file cabinet, she finds a folder with Nick's name on it] 

  Nancy Drew : Manslaughter? "Defendant was found guilty after the testimony of a single key witness... Tiffany Hudson."

• Nancy Drew : I just meant that that's where I would start if I was going to start something. But I'm sure the police can figure it out on their own.

• Nancy Drew : [narrating past events]  But then life dropped a real mystery into my lap... One that couldn't be solved... I don't go searching in the dark anymore... Not after the darkness found me.
