The first episode started promisingly with an acupuncture incident but the whole automatic piano thing was a bit predictable
Just seen episode 2, much better, inventive and original. I love Spencer Jones clownish wit.

Thank you Mr Winner

After watching ITV's recent dreadful comedy Kate and Koje. I wrote a piece deploring the state of British situation comedy. So thank you to the writers and performers of Mr. Winner. It's been ages since I have seen a British comedy that has really made me laugh. The show is just a simple set of visual set piece gags with Spencer Jones in the lead role getting involved in various awkward situations.
I would particularly recommend episode two where he plays a painter decorator, just brilliant. 8/10
Brilliant

If Mr Bean and Basil Faulty had a child, then this would be it. Had my wife and I in stitches. He has incredible resourcefulness and finds a way around all the problems he gets in to, but with hilarious consequences. A very good British comedy.

I really enjoyed episode one. This is the type of humour that makes you cringe and if you are in to that, this will hit your funnybone. I am really looking forward to episode two.
Superbly written, well executed. Back to the good old days of proper comedy.
Almost great, but well worth watching

Good family fun, comedy and a great new comedy show and something familiar to comedy of the past and some clever ideas, but could be better. This does have moments of genus and bring in Shawn as his father was a good move, as he seems to get better as series progresses.

Mister Winner is a British sitcom created by Spencer Jones and directed by Andrew Chaplin. The show stars Jones as Leslie Winner, a well-meaning but hapless man who frequently finds himself in the midst of chaos.
The show has been compared to Mr. Bean, another British sitcom starring Rowan Atkinson. Both shows feature characters who are clumsy and often find themselves in funny situations. However, there are also some key differences between the two shows.
Mr. Bean is a silent character, while Leslie Winner is not. This gives Mr. Bean a certain timeless quality, as his humor is not dependent on language.
Another difference between the two shows is the tone. Mr. Bean is a more slapstick comedy, while Mister Winner is a more character-driven comedy. This means that Mr. Bean is more focused on physical comedy, while Mister Winner is more focused on the relationships between the characters.
Overall, Mister Winner is a good show, but it is not as good as Mr. Bean. Mr. Bean is a classic comedy that has stood the test of time, while Mister Winner is a newer show that is still finding its footing.
I agree with your assessment that Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean is a more likable character. He is a silent character, which allows his physical comedy to shine through. He is also a very expressive character, even though he doesn't say a word. This makes him a very relatable character, and it is one of the reasons why Mr. Bean has been so successful.
I also agree that Mister Winner did not compare well with Mr. Bean. The show was not as funny, and the characters were not as relatable. I think the show would have been better if it had focused more on the physical comedy and less on the relationships between the characters.
Overall, I think Mister Winner is a decent show, but it is not as good as Mr. Bean. If you are a fan of physical comedy, then you might enjoy Mister Winner. However, if you are looking for a more relatable character, then you might want to watch Mr. Bean instead.

More of a drama than a comedy

The show tries to utilize awkward humor, where the main character is forced into these impossibly uncomfortable situations where we are supposed to find his discomfort entertaining. It did not really work for me, because the situations went too far in the direction of uncomfortable to the point that I was feeling second-hand embarrassment on behalf of the main character.
Who is nice enough, by the way, so you get the sense that he deserves better. He has a positive attitude and believes that good things can happen, but the series seems determined to show him the opposite of that as many times as it can.
Otherwise the look of the show is lovely, the camera work is good, and the episodes have this subdued mood that draws you in. The main problem is that it's not funny, instead it is just hard to watch and you do feel sorry for the main character for the things he has to endure.

This is a very intelligently written sitcom, one where you are spending half the time watching anticipating the obvious, with the other half rewarding you with the delightfully unexpected. This show harks back to the golden days of British comedy, good clean fun, yet not over the top, with a really charming nature about it.
It's a crying shame that this didn't get a second series, but the season ends well in such a way that it has a natural finality about it, marking the end of a chapter in the couples life as they move forward into the next.
In my honest opinion, the BBC has a long history of spending so much time punting some very poor sitcoms. Hope this gets picked up by Netflix or Amazon or such, as it deserves at least a couple more series.

Best new British comedy

Just finished watching this brilliant comedy, wish there's more episodes. The main character is probably the best since Alan Partridge. All the comedy situations are real and believable, so is all the characters in the show. I really hope there will be a season two and more.
Completely hilarious, ingenious and inventive

The atmosphere and environment and vibe of the show is very laid back, but the laughs are anything but. Very, very interesting takes with some very well crafted gags.
I laughed so hard a few times I had to pause it and catch my breath. I'm really hoping to see more in the future.
