Another good one (and the Linney haters are just plain wrong).
Montaigne132 July 2020
Twisty plot and complex characters. Season three is great so far. To the Linney haters, she is one of the most respected actors in the US. She has 4 Emmy Awards, 2 Golden Globes, 3 Oscar nominations and 4 Tony Award nominations. Plenty of mediocre actors have won an award or two, but this many is never a fluke. Some of you may find her or her character annoying, but she is giving a great performance, period.

Laura Linney / Wendy went from bad to unmitigated disaster... :-(
elijah-tabere29 March 2020
My distaste for Laura Linney off-screen and her character on-screen grows with each passing episode. Wendy this season, so far mind you, grew from the usual nuisance she is/always was to an outright unmitigated disaster and arguably the most destructive force on the show. Her bad decision-making steers Marty from one tight spot into another and it is he who pays the price for her foolish actions. She's become so insufferable that it pains me, each time they want me to feel sorry for her... like when she has her non-chalant conversations about nothing with Charlotte asking each other a 100 times 'if they're ok'. This is especially infuriating when we're forced to watch her as she hangs on her expensive wine glass plotting against diligently-working Marty, sitting in her expensive house in her expensive clothes contemplating life while he's thrown in a hole to rot - for her illusions of grandeur because apparently 'she wants it all'. Her character is just beyond unlikable at this point and frankly I'm beginning to think Marty is too well-mannered to keep silently dealing with her issues. I'm just hoping he'll lose his temper at her at some point. My biggest hope is that the writers find the courage to write her off somehow this season. It would honestly increase my enjoyment of this show so much not to have to suffer intolerable fits of rage each time I see Laura Linney on screen.

Jesus, I can't stand her character so much. And her for always playing such characters. I swear she's being type-cast as the 'Femme fatale' in Hollywood by now.

The complexity of Marty Byrde
acohen2036 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is an amazing episode where you get to really see the psychology of Marty and it paints him as his extremely complex character, one of the most I've ever seen in awhile.

He's a man who always runs always from his problems by escaping into his safety net of solving financial problems. When he escapes his problems, he loses his sense of empathy and compassion for other people's wants and desires because he wants to be rewarded and acknowledged for his accomplishments. He doesn't consider having empathy an accomplishment.

At the end, he finally acknowledges this about himself and lets himself into his own safety net of laundering money and dealing with numbers.

Great episode
angelo-5761429 March 2020
This show is great. Another user seems to let his emotions get away when it comes to a specific actress. His reviews make no sense. Don't listen to someone who lets their emotions and hate of an actress get in the way of actually reviewing and enjoying a a show.

Superb episode
Gus-Lannister25 January 2021
But I actually find it funny how so many people complaining about different characters, I've sees 1 person hate on Ben another on Ruth and about 3 people complaining about Wendy and what I find funny is non of those characters come close to being as annoying as Skyler from breaking bad. The only bad thing about this episode was the fact the kids didn't get upset there dad got kidnapped but apart from that this episode is pretty perfect

Warning: Spoilers
Omar Navarro's is who he is for a reason. Marty Byrde may have seen a handful of deaths while exploring the world of drugs, but Navarro has been on top of it. Cleverly Marty wiretaps Wendy Byrde's (Laura Linney) phone and learns some shocking details about their plans for the forthcoming casinos. Marty has somehow managed to save himself from being finished at the hands of several gangsters and drug lords. But this time, Navarro being much ahead of Marty realizes that his calls were being tapped. While his knowledge regarding the realm of crime has helped him emerge as the kingpin, he is also driven by high morals. On learning about Marty's unethical behavior, he flies him down to Mexico blindfolded and keeps him captive in a dungeon until he submits. Although Wendy was determined about expanding their business further and made it obvious that she doesn't pay heed to Marty's opinion anymore, she is seen to be highly bothered by husband's disappearance. And the fact that under the watch of Navarro Marty is left with his fate up in the air, eats Wendy up. Thanks to Maya's brilliance and Marty's perseverance in fighting Wendy, he passes Navarro's loyalty test and manages to free himself. Wendy may have a fair idea about the torture Marty was subjected to, but she has no clue about his bigger plans. Furthermore, the episode teases a development in Wendy and Navarro's story arc as the former chose to follow her boss's order even when her husband's life was put on the line. Helen has also established that she's never seen her client remain so patient with anyone the way does with Wendy. Meanwhile, we also see a flip in Marty's character following his encounter with Navarro. Now that he has an upper hand and doesn't need Wendy to deal with Navarro, what will be Marty's next move? And, will Marty's promise to help Navarro launder his money put Wendy in a tough spot and require her to choose sides?

Good episode to end the half of the season
aboalhyjaa1 April 2020
The only thing that bothers me is Laura Lenny's poor acting and performance. I dont like her reactions and i really think shes so bad but the other actors good performance covers for her. Everything else was fine though.

A wasted hour on this episode. Writers get bored?
Top_Dawg_Critic30 March 2020
Seriously, an entire episode coz Marty was spying on his wife, so tough guy goes through all the trouble to abduct him to Mexico to cage him? Even the dumbest drug lord wouldn't bite the hand that feed him. This episode better have a reason and progress down the road or it truly will be a wasted episode.

What do you want, what do you really, really want?
bosporan23 April 2022
Navarro's kidnapping of Marty is a direct result of the antagonism between Marty and Wendy. Suffering torture, Marty has to decide where his loyalties lie and what he wants.

A decent, though slow-moving, episode that brings significant change to a number of relationships.

Boss Fight
bobcobb3014 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I liked Tom Pelphrey's work on Banshee, not so much on Iron Fist, but the Ben character is slowly growing on me here.

Still, this season is just not hooking me in at all. The Marty stuff was not entertaining at all.

Can't stomach Linney's appalling performance
gnarira30 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Never before have I had such disdain for a terrible performance ruining the enjoyment and progression of a show. Laura Linney's acting is not just bad, it's gut wrenching and painful to watch. Over acting at the best of times and bringing the whole of Season 3 down like a contagion. I agree she needs to be written off quickly as patient zero need not die from natural causes.

I don't think I'll make it thru this 3rd season. What a let down.

Good except for that Annoying Ruth
EntropyFashion3 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Good show overall except for that annoying Ruth. It even defies logic that they would keep her around since she has no impulse control and is constantly screaming, cursing and basically being the poster girl for white trash.
