It's not a 30 minute show!
daytay1 December 2018
I think people are trying to categorize this show like any other show. Each episode is roughly 3-5 minutes long and gives a lot of information in each. In order to put all the information from the books on SnapChat it would take a very long time to watch. since the videos are roughly 10 seconds long. Stop complaining about "I read the books and it is not like the book" or "there was so much potential but it was lost" and enjoy the show for what it is.

So im a guy and naturally im not interested in any movies that have to do with teen drama. But this one here hit the spot.its fast its classy its funny its mysterious. I mean all the characters are great i watched both seasons over 2 hours ME i dont even watch such kind series but i just stuck with this one.I seriously doubt you want anything else from such a small series it is perfect the way it is i could not leave my phone and that tells a lot! Hope there is Season 3 and 4 but will see they covered a lot in these 2 seasons

Its a trailer/tease

A snapchat production is so stupid. Im so so dissatisfied and so dissapointed cause I really want to love it. I love the story and I love the cast I think they are perfect but the whole show feels shallow and like it isnt a "real show" its so stupid. The production is disgusting. First having to watch it vertical is annoying and I am unable to take it seriously 2nd episodes are 5 mins Its so shallow and feels like a trailer like you are waiting for the actual show with actual depth and characters that are not paper thin. 3rd switching between snapchats mid episode is not smooth and its so irritating to have those bumps mid watching. Im so so angry cause Like i said I love the story and he cast I just need it to be longer and be treated like an actual show. Like the small fanfics teens write online where events jump and develop really fast without building it up I really wish Netflix produced this. It would be an insult to call this a series or a show this is a trailer or a tease

It Had Potential.

I read the book by Suzy Cox when I was 10, and it completely inspired my writing for months afterwards. So naturally, when I saw that it had been turned into a TV show of sorts, I was extremely excited. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. The entire plot line was made so much more shallow - for example, making the "Rules" book an easily accessible app. They also completely got rid of a rich and well written character from the book, instead combining her plotline with Lorna's. The ending itself was extremely unsatisfying, as they completely changed who the killer was. The way they revealed who it was and why they did it was unsatisfactory and majorly disappointing. The person who they made the murderer was not at all close to the true killer, in the book. Of course, when attempting to bring a book to the screen, some changes must be made. But the amount of deviations from the book are Percy Jackson-level disappointing. So many cliché tropes have been worked in, predictable and overused scenarios that perhaps would have been funny the first time around, but are not any longer. The characters are written to be more shallow and uninteresting than in the book, and the whole show altogether is just a major letdown. Perhaps if the characters weren't hurled into mundane and unoriginal scenes and if the series stayed closer to the setting of the book, the show would be remarkably improved. The actors are not by any means bad, but with stronger writing and directing, the show could be much better. All in all, I was extremely excited to see an important novel of my childhood played out on screen, and so incredibly crestfallen at the disaster that ensued.
