• The Player : Dear Master, you worked on the jungian concept of Shadow. Is it the dark side of the person?

  dr. Hide and mr. Jekyll : Yes, but having said that, we do not understand its value in the field of psychotherapy. The Shadow includes not only the impulses removed but every dark side of existence. Even the part of the setback that we must endure every day.

  The Player : And how do these Shadows manifest themselves?

  dr. Hide and mr. Jekyll : In the dream, for example, through personification. None of us can get rid of all unmentionable impulses. But maturity helps us to recognize them. We cannot isolate this shadow from us. We can establish pacts, not alliances but acceptance. We must learn to live with the less obvious part of us.

  The Player : You wrote and told that a man without a Shadow is a man without depth.

  dr. Hide and mr. Jekyll : We must be wary of completely transparent or luminous men.

  The Player : Yes. I know. Literature has written a great deal about shadow and double. Think of that prototype created by Stevenson with Dr. Jeckyll and Mister Hyde.

  dr. Hide and mr. Jekyll : Stevenson was a Victorian man tied to a solid and valuable morality. Once I advanced a joking hypothesis: I imagined a coherent Dr. Jeckyll who would agree with Mr. Hyde. I concluded that both had their function in life.
