Learn more- Director's cut of an episode from Da Storia Nasce Storia (1991) a TV program by Ottavio Rosati inspired to Le Psychodrame (1956) by Jacob Levi Moreno and Roberto Rossellini. During the production Rosati (as show runner and conductor) and Claudio Bondì (as TV director) filmed some psychodramas that were not broadcast because Rai directors considered them too difficult for a television audience. This material today is available in Rai Teche Archives for psychologists and scholars who can study it for clinical and scientific reasons. Rai has also authorized the Ipod-Plays Psychodrama school in Rome to show and edit some videos but just for research and clinical training of therapists. Not for commercial use. In one of the most complex of these stories Rosati gives the conduction of the group to his friend Gianni Montesarchio and takes the role of "patient" protagonist of the play. Ottavio tells the story of his father Giovanni, born in Abruzzo in 1911 and entrusted to a maiden midwife "Zia Carmela" by his real mother who had not milk for him. Zia Carmela took the baby with her in a buggy when she went to assist the young mothers in the mountains and so also Giovanni could breastfeed: one breast was for the newborn, the other for midwife's psychodramatic baby. The psychodrama of this story of other times is intertwined with an incident that takes place on the set. The night after Rosati makes a dream about a train and a rail crossing and enacts it in the group with music, photos and toys. Step by step the play and the reaction of the group reveal unconscious meanings and the importance of other characters like Uncle Romeo, the gentleman who payed, as a psychodramatic father, the study of Giovanni saving his life. "History of a train and of a rail crossing" is the first trans-generational psychodrama filmed and directed like a movie. Their images and actions solve secrets and symbols that link our present life to the secrets of our ancestors. It is also the first psychodrama when the director reverses roles and becomes the protagonist of the story. Twenty years after the original Rai production, Plays and the IPOD Psychodrama Training School complete this episode with subtitles and images that facilitate its understanding.
