ABC was Monday’s highest-rated network, thanks to another week of Katie Thurston’s “The Bachelorette,” and CBS was the most-watched network, thanks to some pretty popular repeats. ABC was first in ratings with a 0.6 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with 2.8 million, according to preliminary Nielsen numbers. At 8 p.m., “The Bachelorette” scored a 0.7 and 3.1 million viewers. “The Celebrity Dating Game” at 10 received a 0.4 and 2 million viewers. NBC and Fox tied for second in ratings, both with a 0.4 rating. NBC was third in total viewers with 2.6 million. Fox was fourth in total viewers with 1.5 million. For NBC, “American Ninja Warrior” at 8 got a 0.5 and 3.2 million viewers. At 10, “Small Fortune” managed a 0.3 and 1.5 million viewers. For Fox, “Hell’s Kitchen” at 8 earned a 0.6 and 2.3 million viewers. A fresh episode of new animated series “Housebroken” at 9 settled for a 0.3 and 898,000 viewers. At 9:30, a new installment of...

ABC’s steady “The Bachelorette” led Monday in TV ratings, but NBC averaged more total viewers throughout primetime. Following “The Bachelorette,” the Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton-hosted “Celebrity Dating Game” ticked up a hair among adults 18-49, per the earliest available Nielsen numbers. NBC aired more U.S. Olympic Trials from 8 to 10 p.m. The broadcaster upgraded 10 o’clock with an “American Ninja Warrior,” which outperformed last week’s “Small Fortune” in the time slot. Sticking with our theme of fairness, which works in both directions, let’s just it wasn’t exactly as hard as scaling the salmon ladder to best “Small Fortune.” ABC was first in ratings with a 0.7 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 3 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Bachelorette” from 8 to 10 averaged a 0.8 rating and 3.3 million total viewers. At 10, “Celebrity Dating Game” got a 0.5 rating and 2.2 million total viewers.

The Bachelorette is on the downside.
The veteran ABC dating series returned Monday night with 3.6 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in the demo.
These numbers mark all-time premiere lows.
The previous opener did 5 million viewers and a 1.4 rating, so yeah, it's a steep drop.
Still, these numbers are decent, and coming off the Chris Harrison scandal, ABC was probably expecting worse.
ABC is betting big on the franchise, announcing that we still have Bachelor in Paradise this summer, before another season of The Bachelorette in the fall.
And, The Bachelor will probably be back in early 2022.
Leading out of that, The Good Doctor surged to 3.9 million viewers and a 0.6 rating -- drawing the night's biggest audience.
Expect the series back on ABC's schedule in the fall.
Over on NBC, the latest edition of American Ninja Warrior was decent at 3.3 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.
Small Fortune dipped to 1.4 million viewers and a 0.2 rating.

The Bachelorette returned to ABC without longtime host Chris Harrison and topped the Monday ratings.
Although the Season 17 premiere bowed to 3.59M viewers and a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, per early Nielsen Live+Same Day numbers, it marked the lowest premiere in the series’ history. The top-rated program in the 8-10 p.m. time slot, The Bachelorette premiere fell from its previous bow in October 2020 by 24% in viewers and four-tenths in rating.
The Bachelorette saw Katie Thurston in the spotlight and alums Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe taking up hosting duties in Harrison’s absence. Harrison, who caught heat for defending The Bachelor contestant Rachel Kirkconnell amid her photo controversy, stepped down from hosting duties in March.
Hours after the latest installment premiered, Deadline reported exclusively that Harrison exited The Bachelor franchise after his 19-year run as host.

“The Bachelorette” — sans Chris Harrison, which fans will now have to get used to on a permanent basis — ruled Monday night in Nielsen’s TV ratings. ABC’s “The Good Doctor” season finale at 10 p.m. did not let its two-hour lead-in down. CBS finished second in primetime last night in terms of overall audience averages, but ended up in a tie with Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo among adults 18-49. That’s generally the key demo for advertisers on broadcast entertainment programming. CBS aired all reruns on Monday. ABC was first in ratings with a 0.8 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 3.7 million, according to preliminary numbers. Kate Thurston’s “The Bachelorette” premiere from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. posted a 0.9/6 and 3.6 million total viewers. “The Good Doctor” followed with a 0.6/4 and 3.9 million total viewers. ABC's The Good Doctor slipped to some new series lows on Monday.
The series is airing into the summer for the first time, and with fewer people watching TV, the numbers are dipping.
The Good Doctor Season 4 Episode 19 managed 3.5 million total viewers and a 0.4 rating in the demo.
The season wraps next week, and a fifth season has already been ordered.
The Princess and the Frog started ABC's night off at 1.8 million viewers and a 0.3 rating.
Over on Fox, the Season 20 premiere of Hell's Kitchen kicked off with 2.2 million viewers and a 0.6 rating -- easily leading the night in the demo.
The debut of Housebroken managed 970,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating, followed by Duncanville at 740,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating.
NBC's American Ninja Warrior managed 3.2 million viewers and a 0.5 rating, while the debut of Small Fortune snagged 1.5 million viewers and a 0.3 rating.
CBS' coverage of a memorial for Tulsa 1921 had 2.4 million viewers and a 0.3 rating.

Fox’s “Housebroken” might be broken upon arrival. The ensemble adult animated comedy debuted to fewer than 1 million total viewers on Monday, which had low TV usage rates due to the Memorial Day holiday. Still, thanks to the newest “Hell’s Kitchen” season premiere, Fox finished in a three-way ratings tie with NBC and ABC. It also helps that Fox only schedules two primetime hours on weeknights, while NBC and ABC program three. Last night, NBC premiered the Summer 2021 season of “American Ninja Warrior,” which did alright at best. NBC also debuted something called “Small Fortune” the close out primetime at 10 p.m. on Monday. NBC, ABC and Fox tied for first in ratings, each with a 0.4 rating/3 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. NBC was second in total viewers with an average of 2.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. ABC was third with 2.4 million total viewers and Fox fourth with 1.5 million.

The big money going into drama means scripted grabs all the headlines in TV these days, but under the radar there’s a surprising amount of innovation going on within unscripted entertainment, too.
At first glance, it seems like little has changed in that genre, as the list of top formats is familiar. Franchises such as “Dancing With the Stars,” “Survivor,” “American Idol” and “Got Talent” still draw in millions of live viewers around the world, despite each being well over a decade old. In the U.K., the latest installment of the country’s most-popular format, “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here,” was its most-watched ever — in its 18th season — and will debut in France later this year.
For many broadcasters, these tentpole shows remain reassuringly popular at a time when their business is being disrupted by the streamers. “The big brands are still attracting big audiences,...
