Not As Good As Episodes 1&2 But Still Good

Warning: Spoilers
Live Reaction / Review for Invincible Season 1 Episode 3: Omniman is such a hypocrite with that ridiculous speech. Im kind of sad we wont see more of these heroes that Omniman murdered. Omniman is a great liar. So Robot is responsible to create a new ''Guardians of the Globe'' team now that all previous members are dead. The new members don't look as cool as the old ones imo. Mark seems to be interested in two girls at the same time, that's a weird situation. Doc Seismic? Now that's some real cringe haha. Ok this episode was good but felt a bit slow towards the end. My rating for this episode is 7.5/10.

Entertaining but teeny romance triangles detract
ossie857 April 2023
Once again Invincible delivers on the action-packed fight scenes that fans have come to expect from the series. However, the addition of a teen romance subplot detracts from the overall plot, resulting in a slightly less satisfying viewing experience for me.

The episode focuses on Mark and Amber's romance drama. While their relationships are cute and endearing, it takes up a significant amount of screen time that could have been better utilized to develop other plot points. As a result, the pacing feels uneven, and the episode's momentum is slowed down.

Despite this, "Who You Calling Ugly?" still manages to deliver some exhilarating moments. The fight scenes continue to be top-notch, with the animation and choreography remaining impressive. The voice acting also continues to be a highlight of the show, with Steven Yeun's portrayal of Mark Grayson capturing the character's vulnerability and determination perfectly.

Overall, Invincible's "Who You Calling Ugly?" is still an entertaining watch, with a 7/10 rating reflecting its shortcomings. While the teen romance subplot may not appeal to everyone, the episode still offers plenty of captivating moments for fans of the series.

More twists and kickass bloody action
Brettyboy00728 March 2021
Invincible is still great into it's 3rd episode. Doc Seismic/Mauler Twins/Robot assembling a new Guardians of the Globe. I loved Monster Girl's first appearance. Like how more adult this series is more than the comic with the language. I'm so excited for Friday with episode 4.

The weakest of the three
lsgmustache31 March 2021
The third episode in this series tackles for teamwork and interaction between all of our characters and the way they interact. That being said some of these plots don't really progress the story along in a way that will benefit the show even though it is still entertaining. The music was sometimes obnoxious but others were greatly fitted into their scenes. In this episode especially we are setting up all the conflicts for the season which I like because it doesn't provide much filler. Overall this is probably the most problematic of the first three episodes but it is still greatly entertaining and fun.

Again Cliffhanger!!!
AdityaDev00731 March 2021
As many Amazon Prime Shows do this goes same for this Show for which I have to wait for week after week. But I am quite positive that we can get the adaptation better as they have shown that in Animation and Episode Runtime they have got no limits or hindrance to lack something in presenting and cherry on top The R Rating and Web release of the show does not have censorship problems.

Who you callin' Ugly?

I had fun. Seeing Monster Girl come to life from the comics was really cool, Rex is exhausting but funny, and the Mauler brothers got a really entertaining scene. Eve's arc has finally started and I'm excited to see how these writers adapt her story from the comics.

Something I loved about Kirkman's issues is that they ALL ended on too good of a cliffhanger. Like, illegal levels of cliffhangery... This show seems to be going for that now and I couldn't be happier. I know what happens to everyone in the comics, but being able to witness everything again is going to be awesome.

Clancy Brown as Rorschach!
Gislef13 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Pity that Clancy Brown physically couldn't play the relatively scrawny Walter Kovacs for the movie, so they went with Jackie Earle Haley. Brown has Rorschach's voice and vocal mannerisms down pat. I like his little "Hurm"s when he talks to Nolan, and his pronoun-omitting politeness when he talks to Nolan and Debbie. The animators clearly had fun making Damien look like Rorschach, with the trenchcoat and fedora. As one reviewer notes, Damien is like Rorschach by way of Hellboy.

The rest of episode is okay, as it continues to build the mystery of why Omni-Man killed the Guardians. And this is the third episode of world-building, as Mark and Amber link up, Invincible and Atom eve link up, Atom Eve and Rex break up, and there's an amusing confrontation with Doc Seismic at Mt. Rushmore. Where he's wokeness run amuck, but it's implied he acts the way he does because he gives himself concussion. I like Cecil's description of Doc Seismic as a "rogue supervillain". Is there any other kind? :)

Hopefully now that they've got the three-episode and world-building intro out of the way, the production staff can deal with the actual story. Which, from what I've seen and heard, they do. More on that in future reviews of those episodes.

The voice work is still good, although J. K. Simmons seems a bit understated. Maybe that's the idea. The plotting is good, although still a bit slow because the writers are in three-episode "intro" mode. There's nothing wrong with 'Invincible', other than the relative slowness. And Clancy Brown is superb, as always. Maybe I'm just impatient.

But than just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?
