Not as captivating as Unforgotten, Happy Valley, or even Shetland.
As a Canadian (no UK connection), it was a bit difficult for me to understand understand with the heavy Scottish accent. I probably missed <25% details, nothing major, but again it was difficult with the slang.
Main character is obviously troubled with a dark past, but I felt that his problem was left unresolved come the end of the series. He was not a super charismatic character, so I didn't feel connected to him and his obsession to solve the sex crimes.
Flashbacks of his past took away from the main plot, but you get a glimpse to his contributing addiction. Subplots were uninteresting.
Overall, I'm surprised this show rated as high as a 7/10. It's the kind of show that I had playing in the background while I did other things.
Tbh, a bit overhyped. Native Scots can correct me if I missed that much to garner a lower rating.
