Why?
16 October 2018
Just...why?

1 star for the cgi effects. They've improved from 10-15 years ago.

Apart from that why ?

Unfaithful (2002)
de ja vu
14 August 2002
From the trailer for this movie, it actually looked like it could have been an exciting film, but alas, it wasn't. You could go into this movie, for about 15-20mins and probably be able to guess what happens all the way throughout til the end.

The acting wasn't too bad, just the script wasn't that exciting.

I was kind of hoping that there would be a good reason for the female lead to have committed adultery, such as a bad marriage, husband cheating on her, or even just ignoring her or some reason at least, but I couldn't find anything except she just seemed to feel like having an affair.

The new love interest is your typical good looking, well built guy, with the mandatory french accent. Can you say stereotypical??

Also the story seemed to be dragging on when it could have been a little shorter, the exact same story would have been told.

Don't read the book before seeing the movie..if there's anyone left that hasn't ;)
13 February 2002
After reading the fantastic book, the movie was a little disappointing, so my advice, if you haven't read the book, don't! before seeing the movie, that is.

There were numerous scenes in the book, which weren't in the movie, these weren't impossible things to translate from the book into movie form either, they were simple things.

Personally, I thought the casting was great, I don't think there was anyone miscast in looks/appearance as described in the book, however some of the acting I feel wasn't as good as it could have been.

A big let down I believe was that Prof. Snape was not made out to be as wicked as he appeared to be in the book, he wasn't the kind of "baddy" that makes you hiss & boo at the screen, which I believe would have made his character much more appealing, although the actor playing him definately has the ability to do that.

Hopefully the next installment will have a few of the early problems worked out, as I am eagerly looking forward to it, having become a fan of the books :)

Disappointing
8 January 2002
Ever get the feeling that you've seen all the funniest parts in a movie from the trailers? That's how I felt with this one unfortunately. IF you haven't seen the trailer, you should get a few laughs tho. Definately not one to rush out to the cinema and see, considering the other movies on currently, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Vanilla Sky, etc..

Not the worst thriller out there
30 October 2001
Wow, after reading just a few negative comments from other reviewers, I was actually really surprised at how badly they rated this film.

While there were a couple of things that could have been handled better (ie. a couple of the characters, possibly the ending), overall I found this movie was worth seeing at the cinema, rather than on video as it is not by far the worst movie that has been made recently.

I guess the movie could of had some more character development & the plot could have been made a little better towards the end, but they seem like time restraint problems, and the knowledge that not everyone has an attention span that can last for 3 hours, even if the story is really fantastic.

The acting was fine, but I do have to wonder what they were thinking when they let Jennifer Esposito as one of the detectives in the movie do her lines the way she did. She is constantly trying to be a tough guy & I don't think it really suits her, I didn't believe that she was that believable playing the role she did & think that she needs to cut down on her testosterone injections for a while & try & stop acting so butch.

Overall this movie didn't disappoint me as others have recently and was well worth seeing.

nice one liners
28 August 2001
How can I sum up this movie? hmm.. well, the acting from Larry Drake was good, he really got into his character, and he did have some nice, if not a little predictable one-liners. Holly Marie Combs did all she could in her role, so that was ok. The rest of the cast put in, at most, average performances, but this was probably due to their lack of character in the script.

The story is fairly predictable, but aren't most these days.

If you want a horror movie & aren't expecting too much from it, this is not the worst one you could come across, although some of the editing needs serious work & should never have been missed by even an average editor.

If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the best jokes!
5 January 2001
Arghh.. yet another movie, whose trailer gives away all the best jokes. If you haven't seen the trailer, see the movie :) If you have seen the trailer, don't expect much more from the whole movie :(

Reasonable movie, usual good acting from the good actors in the cast, nothing new from this movie though. Already been there, seen that.

Not the worst movie made!
12 December 2000
From scanning the previous comments it would appear that the movie wasn't worth sitting through. Not necessarily so, only a few movies have I ever seen that I can't sit through, and this wasn't one of them.

The story isn't new, but I wasn't expecting that. The acting was up to the class of the main people involved, no problems there. The script wasn't anything exciting but wasn't bad either.

The main fault I found with this picture was (and it could have just been the cinema I was in, but...) a lot of the time, it was out of focus. I thought it might just be the cinema I was in, but sometimes the image was in focus, so I'm not so sure...

Overall something to see if you've seen all the other movies that are on, not bad, the acting helps there, but nothing special. 6/10.

Don't Touch My Daughter (1991 TV Movie)

Don't Touch This Movie!!
12 November 2000
If you don't care about acting quality, storyline, cliches, etc. then this movie is for you.

I only started to watch this movie, as it was hired on video and I wanted to give it a chance. What a waste of time.

There isn't any plot to speak of, the so called "acting" is feeble, there isn't any emotion from the main characters. Jonathon Banks and Danielle Harris are the only ones who show any acting skill and that is limited by the poor script..

TV movie is all this could ever be and a poor one at that.

Standard Movie, Good Special Effects, Bad Editing
26 October 2000
The best part of this movie would have to be the special effects, they are done quite well. The acting is ok, nothing special there. The plot is ok, but nothing special either.

Unfortunately the editing was very badly done, as you will pick up in the subway train scene and in the diner scene too. Obviously no-one really watched this movie before it was released, or these would have been picked up.

Nothing New Here
17 October 2000
Standard story, missing child... family anguish.. etc.. Definitely a "no brainer" if there's nothing else on the tv. Michelle Pfeiffer deserves a better role than this, maybe she needed the money?

Hollow Man (2000)

Special Effects - Good. Plot - Hollow.
19 September 2000
Before I saw this movie, I heard some "average" reviews of it. But I went to it with an open mind anyway. If you like special effects, you will love this movie. If you expect something other than a very predictable ending you'll be disappointed.

The story gets off to a good start & for quite a lot of the movie there are several twists & turns this movie could take, however, it just doesn't. It excites you to a point, then just becomes very predictable.

The special effects are fantastic however, and the people behind these should be rewarded very highly.

Overall, a 6/10, the special effects give it an extra point.

Timewarp Fever
23 February 2000
Having seen this movie a few times over the years & not being that impressed with it (apart from a few good songs), I was a little hesitant to see it again at an audience participation event. I shouldn't have been. I had a GREAT TIME!!! I've been back several times as it is so good. If you are going to see this, make sure it is at a venue that has audience participation, it's well worth it.

Unless you are a very narrow minded person, I guarantee you'll enjoy something that this show has to offer.

Even Flow? Not in this movie!
26 February 1999
If you like a movie to flow onwards, so you can be caught up in the story, don't go expecting it from this one. The movie starts off very slowly, gets slower & by the time the action starts is the time you are about to fall asleep. The action will catch your attention & wake you up, but after the short piece of action the story will fall back into its slow moving pace & drag on again for another eternity until a little more action at the end. The characters are never built up correctly & there is plenty of time in the movie for this to have happened.

One of the worst casting decisions of the decade has to go to the person who put John Travolta in the role he was in. Mr Travolta can play numerous characters & is generally very good at portraying them. I'm not sure if it was the poor makeup job on him, but he really wasn't believable at all to me in the role cast.

Nick Nolte put in a good effort, as did Sean Penn who was probably the standout of all the major stars.

Overall not a very good attempt at creating the atmosphere of the time, with too many big name stars which I feel took away from the attempt to make this lifelike. How this movie was ever nominated for any Academy award is beyond me. This was not a visually stimulating movie, as it tried too hard to be one.

Chasing Amy (1997)
True to Life, well, close enough!
8 February 1999
Definitely a movie worth checking out, may be too complicated for the younger audience to grasp the concepts in it, but worth seeing nonetheless.

The ending, while not your typical "Hollywood" ending, was more true to life, than just making the audience happy, which led to a very well written story overall.

A remake of Dial M for Murder? Not exactly!
1 December 1998
If there wasn't any mention of this movie being a "remake" of Dial M for Murder, I think I would have enjoyed it more. I was expecting a similar movie, ending, etc to the original, but it was not to be. This movie was more like a new movie but borrowing heavily from Dial M for Murder. It was quite a good movie, except for the ending which was very predictable & downgraded the movie overall.

Suspense? Twists? Where???
12 November 1998
If you haven't seen something resembling the twist in this movie in other movies, you haven't seen enough movies!! The conflict in the family was very exaggerated & doesn't really add to the believability of the story. The best part of the movie was Alyssa Milano & Ice T who both put in respectable performances. The question is, when will Alyssa Milano be given a chance at a good movie role, she's got the talent, but so far the movies she's been in have been sub par.

Top Secret! (1984)
Funny, after all this time?
12 November 1998
I would have seen this movie, back when I was about 12-13. I can still remember some of the jokes from it. I saw it again recently and can happily say that after all this time it was worth checking out again. If you need something to laugh at, well, giggle at least, then this is worthwhile to check out.
