Spoiled American Slackers Whine A Lot
21 January 2001
This is a quintessential 80's film. Filled with all the yuppie, self-indulgent longings that we would expect from a 1985 brat-packer movie. I cannot say it is cinematic brilliance, but I guess it is kind of cute in a sophomoric way. Most of the characters are either of weak moral standing, or are hopelessly in love with someone unavailable. Even Wendy- the only one not slacking or immoral is in love with pretty boy Billy- the biggest slacker, womanizer of the bunch. Worth watching just to see what NOT to become after graduating from college.

A bad experience
7 September 2000
Yuck!

This movie was really bad. There was nothing likeable about the entire film. Aside from being morbidly gruesome, none of characters were interesting in any way. They were all self absorbed materialistic snobs, and they were all exactly alike! As for the serial killer....well, he was just painful to watch in general. Did we have to hear him drone on about those CDs while he planned his murders? I kept wishing he would just shut up! His mannerisms and the way he talked in that "way too white boy" accent, were tiresome after the first ten minutes. I have read several of Bret Easton Ellis's novels and I found them boring and redundant. Doesn't this guy have anything more to say than, "we are a materialistic, inherently bad society with poor moral values?" I think he covers that same ground in every novel he writes. And whats his obsession with the decadence of the 80's? Man, it's over dude. Forget it and move on!

Go (1999)
"Go" and see it!
7 February 2000
This was a cool movie. One of the best I've seen in awhile. One of those "kick back and enjoy the ride" films with non stop action and fun. Yes, the people in the film have little or no morals, but thats why we go to movies right? If we can't live the life ourselves, we can always escape to a movie and watch others doing it. Very enjoyable. 8 out of 10.

BORING BORING BORING
6 February 2000
I must agree with the many users who hated this movie. It was a waste of time. You never cared about the characters. There was no development. And like others have said, it rambled away and you could never figure out what the hell was going on. What a piece of crap. I knew it was going to bad, because of the low rating given by IMDB users, but thought I'd give it a whirl. Huge mistake. I would have rather seen "The Talented Mr. Ripley," again.

One of the best I've seen
24 October 1999
This film is one to experience. It is one of those great films that keeps your attention from beginning to end. Demi Moore did an excellent acting job here. The entire premise of the film is very believable and engaging, even if you are not religious. As others have said, the ending is quite remarkable to say the least. I always know a film is good if it keeps me thinking after the movie is over. This one did.

Good Job Ryan
14 May 1999
Pretty good film. Definitely keeps your attention even if most of it is pretty disturbing. Phillipe, one of my favorite actors, does a great job. Kinski looks too good to be a trailer parker though. But I guess if the people didn't look good in this film it would be pretty unbearable to watch. I mean, who wants to see ugly people living in extreme dysfunction?

Jackie Brown (1997)
Awesome

I loved this movie. The characters were awesome and the dialogue was hilarious. A movie I can watch more than once. I loved Bridget Fonda's character. And Samuel L. Jackson was brilliant as Ordell. This is my favorite Tarantino movie.

Originality?
11 April 1999
I don't get the hype over the book and the movie. Where is the originality? If you want to see the real thing, rent The War Room, a documentary of the 1992 Clinton campaign. It's much more entertaining. Travolta was very convincing and cute as Clinton, and I found that to be the only redeeming quality of this film, aside from the performance by Kathy Bates. Let's face it, the story has already been told.

Flashdance (1983)
Awesome, Inspirational
22 December 1998
One of my favorite movies of all time. I love the message of this film. It says to it's audience...dreams do come true, never stop believing in yourself. It holds special meaning to those of us who love dance. I could relate so much to Jennifer Beal's character, about the freedom you feel when you dance. I am a HUGE Adrian Lyne fan and have great respect for his films. This movie will always have a special place in my heart.

Blind Date (1987)
Good Fun
21 December 1998
One of my favorite 80's comedies. Many very funny and memorable scenes. It's a fun, light-hearted film about a blind date gone awry. Of course, everything that can happen DOES happen on this particular date, and many laughs are the result. The best scene is when Walter and Nadia go to a restaurant after Nadia has had too much to drink. Apparently, she has some sort of chemical imbalance to liquor, and things go haywire in front of Walter's business associates.

Trashy and Gross
24 October 1998
I agree with those who said the movie was gross and unpleasant. I did not have the pre-movie knowledge of the disgusting scenes, or even that the films directors were from Dumb and Dumber and Kingpin. So, it was a shocking surprise.

I found myself grossed out more than a few times. The movie was just plain scary in some scenes, i.e. the leather-faced lady in undress, the unending zipper scene, and the thoroughy nauseating masturbation part just to name a few. It was mildly funny in some areas, but the gross parts overshadowed that. I was just waiting for the film to end, as other people have expressed.

To sum it up, the movie is just plain trashy and disgusting.

An Awesome Flick
14 October 1998
One of the best I've ever seen. It has it all! Murder-mystery, sex, good-looking people, hot cars, big houses on the beach. Oh, and did I mention sex?

It's a great film, and Sharon Stone did an awesome job. The police interrogation scene is unforgettable and brilliant.

This movie really stands out as a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining film- AND IT'S SO DANG COOL!!

The colors used in the scenes and the backdrops of the beach house and the techno club are stunning. The club scene is one of my favorites. Why can't people make more movies like this?!

If you haven't already seen it, you are missing out! Go out and rent it. It's a one-of-a-kind piece of cinematic brilliance.

The Omen (1976)
It will make you think- And scare the pants off you!
14 October 1998
This movie is the scariest horror film I've ever seen. It's positively creepy. After watching it, you feel weird for about a day ( at least I did). It really makes you think about what evil really is and who generates it. (the Devil)

Maybe it's the religious element in the film that makes it so creepy. Instead of watching a film like Halloween (which is a great film) about a guy who is evil, we are watching a film about the source of evil itself.

You start to wonder if what is happening could really happen, as the Bible says. It seems so real, you almost believe it's totally possible.

There are many freaky and scary scenes in this movie from the nanny's suicide to the dogs in the graveyard. All I can say is if you want to see a film about Armegeddon, forget about goofy astronauts trying to break apart a meteor! Rent this movie. It is sure to scare the pants off you!! (But don't expect to get a good night's sleep!)

Pure Luck (1991)

A laugh a minute
11 October 1998
I really liked this movie. Partially because I've been to the Mexican Riviera and I had a few treacherous adventures there myself. The laughs just keep coming as Martin Short's bad luck lands him in some very sticky (and funny) situations. If you like slapstick comedy this movie is for you. One of the funniest scenes is when Short and Danny Glover are up in a plane looking for the missing heiress. As they scan the mountains for the lost lady (who also happens to have a bad luck curse) Short is stung by a bee. He is allergic to bee stings and what follows is hilarious. (Let's just say he gets a little puffy.) There are many more great scenes in this film and you will be laughing off your chair when you see this one.

Neighbors (1981)
9/10
A unique and offbeat comedy
11 October 1998
Neighbors is a great comedy. The humor is a bit offbeat and you may have to have a really good sense for humor to get the hilarity of whats going on. Dan Ackroyd is great as Vic, the wacky next door neighbor. Some people may think the film is a bit strange, but that's what makes it so funny. The novelty of the film is the best thing about it. Undoubtedly, the greatest moment is when Vic and Romona (the new neighbors) are sharing a spaghetti meal with Earl and Edith Keese, the conservative couple next door. Vic claims the meal came from a new restaurant called "Ceasar's Garlic Wars" Earl grills Vic as to where the food came from, because he saw Vic making the food next door in Vic's kitchen. What ensues is a hilarious tongue-tying dialogue between slick Vic and a very sceptical Earl. You'll understand when you see it. It's hysterical! The fun only begins there, as Vic and Romona and the rest of the clan have more hilarous run-ins with each other through out the night. It definitely is a must see for all lovers of comedy!!

Jaws 3-D (1983)
Cornball at its best
10 October 1998
This movie is the farthest thing from scary that you can get. It's absolutely hilarious. The best part is when the tour guide is leading the tourists out of the doomed underwater tunnels. A little girl says, "Daddy look at the big fish!" To which he replies, "Holy Sh-t!" The special effects are extremely fake. But the movie is a good laugh.
