Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)
Just couldn't watch it
I like the time period, I like the attempt, but watching a movie that looks like I'm looking at it through a coke bottle gives me a headache. If I played computer games that were this blurry and out of focus, I would upgrade my computer. Could be that this was the look the director was after, but not so it hurts the eyes and you want to leave after 10 minutes. If I hadn't taken someone with me to this film, I was out of there. Even though it was a series and not a movie per say, Band of Brothers accomplished this. They made it look like WWII footage, with just a touch of graininess, but it was still a pleasure to watch. Movies need real people, with real sets, and real locations; Use CGI when it is appropriate, not for an entire film.
xXx (2002)
What was he thinking?
What on earth made Samuel L. Jackson get involved in this piece of junk? Was he short on funds? Did he lose a bet? For a man who made movies like Unbreakable, Pulp Fiction, The Negotiator, and A Time to Kill it is a disgrace to have his name associated with this so called film. I never seen a movie try so many one liners that just don't go anywhere. What a waste.
Youngblood (1986)
Hockey Movies ... no more please.
If you want to make a movie that involves a love story and sport, please pick a sport other than hockey. The people that write these stories and the people that make these movies don't have a clue about what hockey is really like. They have never played the game at all, or never played it at a high enough level to understand what it is like to get close the the NHL. eg. As if an arena full of people, coaches, trainers, managers, game officials, etc. are going to stand back and watch two players try to kill each other without stepping in, I don't think so...
This movie would have worked just as well if the sport had been football.
The Rugrats Movie (1998)
Fun
Watch this movie through the eyes of a kid, and you will agree. It's just plain fun.
