Nothing But Trouble (1991)
Oh Come On, It wasn't that bad..
I seen this movie only recently and although I admit it wasn't the Great Epic, it was entertaining. It was not awful. It could have been funnier than it was but One of the worst it's not. Just a good old fun movie. The Twins could have been hilarious, the script was a little weak but was worth a look, in Memory of John Candy who I was surprised was not given more of his comedic skills. It was Fun in a cute sort of way.
Super Sucker (2002)
A Funny little movie
This film was good, the acting was wonderful , Jeff Daniels did a Great job as the Super Sucker Salesman- anyone who has ever sold vacuums and love vacuums this is a wonderful movie, they will find this a treasure. For everyone else, it's an off beat funny movie that you'll enjoy. Although it probably won't go well in the theaters due to the advertising of this movie, it is worth seeing. The supporting Cast is Great, Matt Letscher (Howard) was Hilarious, he was a wonderful addition to the film, a stand out performance.. If you have a chance -go see this movie, on the whole you will enjoy it, some parts are a bit off center and have you thinking "What??" , but the comedy is great!
Almost Home (1993)
The Torkelsons
One of the most wonderful sitcoms on Television, well acted and very cozy. This was a Great Show. Connie Ray, Olivia Burnet were good. This show had a certain charm about it. It made you laugh, cry, etc. in just a 1/2 hour. We needed this show to last longer, I don't understand why it was cancelled and not given a chance. Cheers to Lynn Montgomery for a show that should of given us wonderful stories for years to come.
Prisoner (1979)
An Exceptional, Quality T.V. Series!!
I wish they would bring this show back to the U.S. I didn't get to see all of them, but from what I saw, I was HOOKED!! It was called Prisoner: Cell Block H in the U.S.. It was High Quality Drama and very effective. It was well written. The acting was superb. It had all the greatest qualities that make for the best in Television. It would have won many Emmys here. It was Brilliant!! If there are other shows in Australia as powerful as Prisoner then the United Sates needs to make room for these shows that we're missing. We can only take so many repeats of Friends!! etc. I am not at all saying we don't have shows on this level, we do. It's just that our Country needs to expand our horizons, because I am sure what they pay the friends cast, it would be much cheaper to buy all 600+ episodes of Prisoner and repeat those episodes for a whole Century. The theme song to Prisoner blends well with the shows theme. You can tell they put a lot of time & Effort into this show. I have the first 12 episodes on tape and that's all I can get here, I know they have put many more out, but they are in the PAL format. ( MY LOSS!!) I would love to own them, if anyone can change them to our format. Please!! Make me a DEAL!!! Val Lehman (Bea), Carol Burns (Franky) & Fiona Spence ( Vera) are Wonderful Actresses, GREAT! The rest of the cast is good as well, but these 3 made me take notice from the beginning. I wish they would come to the U.S. that would be Fantastic. "PRISONER!! COME BACK!! THE U.S. MISSES YOU!!"
The Rose (1979)
An OSCAR worthy film and performance.
The Rose is about a woman whose sole purpose in life was to give of herself completely. Protected from adult responsibilities by her manager, "Rose" dug further and further inside herself, alienating all those who loved her. With an adolescent attitude toward life, she indulged in every excess. The poignant scene in the phone booth, where she overdoses on a lethal combination of pain killers, heroin, and booze is certainly worthy of an Academy Award. We feel her pain, and we really believe we are seeing a woman in the last hour of her life. Killing herself before our eyes, yet we are helpless to stop her. We can't stop watching. The final scene, and the final song Rose sings, Stay With Me, is filmmaking at its best. It sums up her life, and the life of so many talented musicians (Kurt Cobane, Jim Morrison, etc). Rose was desperate to have someone, anyone, who was there just for her. Yet she pushed everyone away who truly cared about her. Bette Midler's passionate and inspired performances in concert footage is unforgettable. The Rose is one of the best movies ever made.
