In Too Deep (1999)

Not Bad, But Not Great

This movie was pretty good i guess. There were a couple of things I didn't like:

1. They didn't give enough information about what was going the first two years he was undercover trying to take down "GOD." He was undercover and then all of a sudden it's two years later in the film and he's gotten in too deep and has to hide out. They needed two spend more time on what happened in those two years i think.

2. Felt like it the film dragged on/loose momentum just a little.

2. Would have been nice to know what happened to the actual persons this story was inspired by.

3. Omar Epps, although i think he's a great young actor, felt that his performance was kind of lame and flat except when he was playing the part of the undercover "Jay Reid."

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

Not Scary

i thought this movie was good but i wasn't scared by it. when i saw the movie after seeing those trailer where the reviewers called it "Scary as Hell," etc. i was wondering if they saw the same movie. sure it was suspenseful at parts but it wasn't scary. and even "sixth sense" was creepier than this. More people were screaming in the theater anyways. this movie wasn't that originial if you've seen "The Last Broadcast." the similarities are almost identical. I wouldn't expect any oscar noms or anything except maybe for acting. and come on, how much really did those two guys direct? and what original screenplay? the actors held the cameras and made up dialogue while the directors were hiding out in the woods.

people who keep saying this is just like the truman show are stupid. it's completely different, and it didn't rip of anybody. both movies were probably being made at the same time. Truman Show has barely any similarities to EdTV. EDTV is a romantic comedy, light satire, and truman show is a drama. EdTV didn't get what it deserved at the box office and i respect howard whose direction is excellent, for releasing this movie when he did. Harrelson and Landau are hilarious and this is probably matthew's best performance i've seen of him. he really does a great job. jenna elfman too. Very funny, entertaining movie, and a great DVD. I laugh so hard when the camera man falls in the outtakes section of the bonus materials.

Brokedown Palace (1999)

See RETURN TO PARADISE

see "Return to Paradise" w/Vince Vaughn, Anne Heche, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jada Pinkett Smith. It makes this movie looks ten times worse than it is. Return to Paradise was a critically praised movie that many people didn't see. It's coming on Showtime in a week or so. Don't miss it. Something i can't say for this piece of crap. strictly for the younger mtv audience. cause i'm 17 and thought this was horrible.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999)

Mouth Wide Open. Excellent Masterpiece.

This movie was amazing. Excellent, excellent film. One of the best movies I've ever seen. I would have known it was film of Kubrick's if I knew nothing about it before seeing it. Halfway through the film at the orgy sequence It was very intense and haunting. The film just drew me in. Something that probably won't happen for most commercial audiences. It is too weird for most people. Most commercial audiences will either love it or just not get it. But people who love Kubrick will love this.

The digital mask placing wasn't as bad or as comical as critics say. It would have been nice to see it how it was intended though. And it is a shame that Warner Bros. is more concerned with making money. I'm 17 and I don't think that most people my age or under would want to see this film anyway. It's far too complex.

Nicole Kidman was EXCELLENT. Especially in the pot smoking scene. I wouldn't be suprised if she got an Oscar nomination or even an Oscar. Another standout was Alan Cummings as the desk clerk.

EYES WIDE SHUT probably won't be nominated for anything else if you go by the Academy's history with Kubrick films.

Don't listen to critics. Kubrick's films always got some bad response from critics. You have to see it for yourself.

i just didn't like this movie. i thought i was really going to like it. the song was getting me hyped up and then it was just a let down. branaugh is just annoying as the bad guy, smith and kline have good chemistry, but the story is weak, and all hayek does is sit there and look pretty (which isn't that bad).

Night and Fog (1956)

One of the Best Documentaries Ever

This movie makes Schindler's List seem like a Saturday morning cartoon. It has some of the most shocking images you'll ever see. Only problem with the movie is it's in French, and the English subtitles are horribly done, and move really quick, so pay attention.

Just One Word: Wow!!!

I thought this movie was great. I loved it. Younger viewers might not like its involving story but will be blown away by its inventive action sequences. Its the best action/sci-fi movie I've seen in a long time, and liked it better than Dark City. The special effects blew me away, and it had a story to match. Something you don't see with most Hollywood shoot em' up action movies. I like Keanu Reeves (not a huge fan) but I just thought he just didn't look comfortable on the screen like he did in other movies like Speed. Laurence Fishburn was good as the mysterious Morpheus, and the woman who played Trinity.
