Collateral (2004)
Could have been great
22 August 2004
Warning: Spoilers
I was really pumped to see this movie. I am quite a big Cruise fan, and i think his recent movies have been really expanding his acting abilities. The movie started out quite solid with Foxx's character build up with his customers. But then, Jada Pinkett Smith gets out of the car and Cruise gets in and...oh my god, i just figured out the ending.

I was hoping the entire movie that no, it wouldn't be this cliche. I mean, the movie was going strong for a solid hour or so. Amazing character development, and it was very stylisticly directed. Tom Cruise even manages to leave me with an open mouth over how much of a bad ass he is in the nightclub scene.

**SPOILERS** Just when i was thinking the movie would opt out of Jamie Foxx finding out that Tom Cruise's last hit was (what??) Jada Pinket Smith, the same woman Foxx got to know in the first scene, it didn't. From there it becomes a poorly exicuted cat and mouse chase from building to train which is nothing i haven't seen a million times before.

**END SPOILERS**

It's really a shame, because the rest of the movie was quite good.

Blade II (2002)
This one beats "Blade" hands down!
23 March 2002
Ooh boy, put the bacon in the frying pan and kick the cave man's teeth in, this movie was something else. I was skeptical of course because i did not enjoy "Blade" very much, despite the excellent opening. So when I was done watching "Blade 2" I felt overjoyed almost. The CGI is so much better in this movie, and unlike the original, "Blade 2" was actually scary in some parts. I loved the hip hop/techno soundtrack as well, it added a certain air of chaos to the film. The reapers are a new installment to the series and not for one minute do they look fake. The only downside was the opening could not top the wicked opening of the original's Vampire Rave. Also, do all fight movies after "The Matrix" have to look like it? I feel it could have tried to use some of it own ideas for filming a fight scene.

*** OUT OF **** VAMPIRE SKULLS.

Also check out the awesome "Dracula 2000" and "John Carpenter's Vampires" which, no offence to B2, school this movie.

The Flying Car (2002 TV Short)
This is one of the greatest shorts ever
21 March 2002
Although i missed this soon to be classic from writer/director Kevin Smith (Clerks), I found it on the View Askew homepage. It has everything i loved from the View Askew movies rolled into 7 minutes! Randal and Dante discuss what Dante would give up to own a flying car. The results are very hilarious! The only downside to it, is that it reminds me a lot of the scene in "Clerks" where Randal explains the circumstances surrounding his cousins death. *** out of **** stars. Also check out the shorts "Mae Day: The Crumbling Of A Documentary"(Directed by Kevin Smith) and "Star" (Directed by Guy Ritchie.)

Tha Eastsidaz (2000)
Did a cameraman just follow Snoop around without him knowing it?
11 March 2002
The basic premise of "Tha Eastsidaz" is Snoop Dogg and friends sitting about smoking weed. Then Snoop goes to jail and when he breaks out he kills a bunch of white people. The sound and picture quality are awful...which gets me to wondering if a cameraman, unbeknowest to the S man, followed him around for a week or two. Only upside to this is the rapping and seeing Snoop smoke blunts like a madman. I mean who would pay to see this... oh wait i did. Blast me and my illogical movie choices. I instead should have rented "The Voyage of Mimi." Ben Afflek for life.

Also check out "Bones" (I havn't seen it but if you like this crap, then your sure to love it)

Leprechaun 4: In Space (1996 Video)
Possibly the best movie involving a Leprechaun in space...Ever!
11 March 2002
Leprechaun in space has all the qualities for this years Oscars... despite the fact that it did not come out this year. The leprechaun displayed so much soul in the film i forgot that he was trying to kill at all. i even cried when he blew up for the third time, never mind that they used the same footage as the first two times he blew up. Brilliance pure brilliance. Not once did I wish for my eyes to be gouged out as i did while watching the atrocious "Astro Zombies." Ever scene captures your heart, from when the leprechaun comes out of a mans penis, to the totally unnecessary breast shot. The world would be a better place If there were more films like Leprechaun and less like "Trucks." Four out of Four puke buckets.

Also check out "Leprechaun in the Hood" and the fantastic miniseries "The Voyage of Mimi."

Good Special Effects save this movie from disaster
11 August 1999
This is the second of the Child Play movies I had seen ( The other being "Child's Play 3") and I didn't quite get what I hoped for. All of my friends had said it was sooo scary. When I saw it I sort of got a feeling of: that was ok. It is not the worst horror movie I have sat through and its not really that bad. What I liked was the special effects, and the awesome climax at the Good Guy factory . What I didnt like was the fact that the film seemed to be recyciling itself as it went along. There were too many moments where the actors were looking for chucky, when he pops out suddenly and stabs them with a knife or somthing. Also The acting seemed so stale, like every one just wanted to stop making the film as soon as they could. It is far better than number 3, but is that saying much? All and all this movie is good for die hard Chucky fans (are there any?) but for every one else its just ok.

Act of War (1998)

Not bad.... not good either
23 May 1999
I rented this movie because I wanted a movie where thought process was minimal. That is what I got. There was lots of explosions and shoot outs, and no big name stars. Jack Scillia played the take no crap one man army of this movie. He shot people, blew things up and in the end he romanced the girl. Sounds like James Bond you say? Well it is very similar. There is even a character that resembled Odd-Job from "Goldfinger". This was not the worst movie I have ever seen ( the worst being "Trucks" and "Ape" ) but I was down there. There were many acting problems due to the fact that no one could act. And the fact that the camera kept zooming on Jack's eyes, I am clueless. I give it a *1/2 out of ****.

This Movie was cool
9 May 1999
This movie was very good. I saw this horror great on television, so most of the gore was edited out, but it still had the effect. From the opening sequence where the gas leaks out into the morgue, I knew this was going to be one heck of a ride. It was funny and gory, and the punk music added to the experience. This movie should be watched by all horror movie buffs and people who like to watch zombies eating people's brains.

I give it *** out of ****
