Butterfly (1999)
The old teacher
3 September 2000
This film, based on a novel of the genial Manolo Rivas, shows the beginnings of a child in the life of knowledge and in the repect to life by the hand of an old anarchist teacher, who in the end of his life has still the same illusion than ever for teaching the desire of learning, for learning with the ones who are taking their first look to life.

The story takes place in the previous time to the Spanish civil war and presents the ambient of fanatism that all wars create for destroying cruelly the essences of the innocence and the reason. The film has really emotional scenes, even for ones who think they aren´t, specially its hard.

Lives without future
6 June 1999
An ETA member comes to the city of Madrid to commit some terrorists actions, there he will start a relation with a prostitute addicted to the heroine. This love will overlap his mission and will involucrate him in other problems. The story is about an ETA activist, but it's not an story about ETA. It's a thriller about heterogenous relationships and non-hopes; because none of the characters have any future.

Earth (1996)
On the line of Medem's filmography
27 May 1999
The film tells the story of a technician who comes to a little village to solve the problem of the local wines, they taste to soil, in that task he will find several charachters that will start to enter wildly in his life. To me this one is the most discret film in the career of Julio Medem, a genial creator. Even if the film follows the general guidelines of the rest of the filmography of Medem (symbolism and psychologicalism), it lacks of the potence to attract so much the audience.
