Cabin Fever (2002)
Bad acting, bad music, bad direction -- amateur thru and thru
This movie offers you nothing. Horrible acting, cliched, bad music, bad direction, worse writing. It is, bar none, the most amateur film I have ever seen in a mainstream movie theater. Ignore the hype, ignore the idiots at the Toronto Film Festival who accepted the film, and ignore this film. It is a badly done as they come, and will make you long for a Roger Corman resurgence.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
What a load of garbage!
Bound was great, Matrix better. It obviously swelled the brothers' collective heads because Matrix Reloaded is as self-indulgent. overblown, boring and wasteful as...well...the new batch of Star Wars movies, Rocky 2-9, and Jaws 2-4.
Gangs of New York (2002)
A disaster of a movie...
What has happened to the world that this movie and its director are getting Golden Globes and Oscar nominations? I thought Scorsese's last few movies, "Bringing out the Dead" and "Kundun," were as bad as movies could get. But he actually manages to top them with this horrible movie. Was Daniel Day Lewis thinking he was in a Baz Luhrmann film? Were the writers forgetting things like...story? Was Cameron Diaz ever really meant to be in a period piece? 1/3 of the audience didn't make it to the end, myself included. The rest...well...I pity them. So sad that this movie is winning awards. Let's go back in time and give Scorsese awards for Casino and Goodfellas. For this film? Let's give him garlic.
Manfast (2003)
Fun concept but amateur writing and acting sink it
There's nothing much new here that wasn't already done in "40 Days and 40 Nights," only now it's women on a fast from men. Some nice camera work and a fine performance by "Six Feet Under's" Jeremy Sisto can't compensate for a truly amateur script and heavy overacting by most cast members.
