The Happening (2008)
1/10
What's "Happening"???
27 October 2008
What is it with M. Night?? His movies keep getting worse!! This movie has to be one of his biggest disappointments to date. It sure was not scary, there wasn't much of a thriller element when you find out what supposedly is going on, and who knows why it got an R rating. Sixth Sense was awesome, Signs was OK, The Village was barely passable, but The Happening was awful. The "plot" the acting was not even anything to write home about and it had some decent named actors. I hope he turns things around with future projects, but he needs to stop doing weird pointless movies!! Just my personal opinion. One of the problems I saw with this film was things were never properly explained at any point in the movie and nothing is more irritating to watch a movie for 90 minutes or more to only be scratching your head at the end because it just made no sense and didn't frighten, shock, scare or any other emotion that a thriller is supposed to do. Sixth Sense did ALL of that! I hope he gets his touch back for doing movies like that again!! I only give this movie 1 out of 10 and it is not one I would recommend to others.

Best of Both Worlds!
21 August 2003
I was pleasantly surprised by Freddy vs Jason. I am a big horror fan and I've been a Freddy AND a Jason fan since the beginning of both franchises. The back stories of both characters were a nice touch to add to the overall experience. This movie has definitely reinvigorated both series. They were going downhill on storyline and especially the gore factor. Part of the enjoyment of going to a "Slasher Flick" is the gruesome deaths that Freddy and Jason's victims must suffer for their actions or for just being in the way of the killer at the wrong time! Both series were getting so watered down and we finally got some good blood and guts death scenes!!! Kudos to Ronny Yu for his direction and Sean Cunningham for producing (Sean was the producer of the original Fri 13th. I think the only thing that would have made it even better would be Wes Craven's writing input to the new film. Other than that, I would have to give Freddy vs Jason 3-1/2 out of 4 stars! Go see it at the theater before it is gone!!! Let's hope for a lot of good extras when the DVD is released!!!

Original monster movie that was good, but could have been better!
13 September 2001
Jeepers Creepers was quite an original monster movie, and being that it is still fairly new, I won't give away any details to those that haven't seen it yet. It was satisfying as a horror flick until the ending. The ending made sense to the plot of the film, but was totally unsatisfying as to what I had expected. It was also very abrupt. I was expecting a better climax to the film and it never happened. It's like the writer took a wrong turn at the script's end!! Overall it was enjoyable for anyone who likes Horror, but I agree with some of the other user comments that the "Psychic" lady was not necessary! Overall, I would rate it 3 out of 4 stars. It lost a star from me because of the quick ending!!

Spellbinder (1988)
Good Thriller/Horror Movie!
7 May 2001
I really enjoyed Spellbinder! It's a good mix of Thriller, Suspense, Horror, Witchcraft with a plot twist at the end that was unexpected the first time I viewed it. Spellbinder has a great cast, including Timothy Daly (Wings), Kelly Preston (Mrs. John Travolta), Rick Rossovich (Top Gun), and Audra Lindley (Mrs. Roper from 3's Company). It's definitely worth the rental price if you like horror and thriller movies. :) As of today (May 7, 2001) it looks like this title is not currently available on VHS or DVD (what a shame!)

Coneheads (1993)
Very Clever, Exceeds the original sketches of SNL.
18 August 1999
Coneheads is one of the best conversions of an SNL skit to the big screen. Granted, Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin were funny on SNL as Beldar and Prymat, but the movie has given them the chance to show how funny they can be as these two aliens from "France"! All the SNL cameos are great too! If you don't like this film, you should be sent to "Narfal the Garthok!!" :)

The Title Says it all!
1 July 1999
If you are a fan of South Park, you will not be disappointed by the movie! Some side splitting lines will keep the audience laughing, but there are a few sparse comments, that I even considered very bad taste. This movie is not for the younger crowd, but if you're over 17 and love South Park, I would definitely recommend this movie to you!! And don't forget to "Respect Cartman's *$&#%!* Authoritay!"
