Scary Movie 2 (2001)

Hilarious

Scary Movie 2 is hilarious. There's one thing that I can't seem to understand, if someone didn't like Scary Movie then why would they go see Scary Movie 2. They couldn't have thought that Marlon and Shawn Wayans were going to change the writing style they used on a movie that grossed well over 200 million dollars. Anyway, the movie was funny. I must say that I did like the first better, but I still thought this one was hilarious. Marlon Wayans is my favorite actor and I am a huge fan of the entire Wayans family. Although I don't believe that any type of comedy is better than another, if I were to follow these beliefs then I would have to conclude that Keenan, Marlon, and Shawn are just very versatile. Keenan Ivory Wayans wrote and produced I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, a spoof of blaxploitation films. This movie received rave reviews and didn't have "toilet humor" as many people like to call it. Marlon and Shawn wrote and produced Don't Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, which critically was not as successful as Keenan's spoof, but was a huge hit with fans and had very little "toilet humor." Last summer the brothers Wayans wrote Scary Movie and mastered gross-out humor in the spoof. They did it again this summer. Perhaps many of the jokes in Scary Movie 2 are taken from scenes or even movies that many people might not remember, but the movie is still hilarious. Straight up, if you didn't like the first one, don't go see the sequel expecting something totally different. If you liked the first one and didn't enjoy the second, I supposed I can understand. I give it a 10 because it did its job which was to make me laugh. One final note, to anyone who says Marlon Wayans isn't talented, go out and rent Requiem for a Dream.

My Wife and Kids (2000–2005)

Great Show

"My Wife and Kids" is an excellent show. It has a great cast and is very funny. I read an article where Damon Wayans said that he wanted to bring back to television what Bill Cosby did and he is certainly doing just that. The show will hopefully be on for years and be very high in the Nielsens Ratings. I give this show a 10.

Finding Forrester (2000)

Finding Forrester

I commented on this movie once before right after I saw it a few weeks ago. At that point, I had not seen "Good Will Hunting." Reading some of the comments of other people on IMDB prompted me to want to see it so I borrowed it from a friend. I loved it. However, I like Finding Forrester better and found no real similarities between the two movies other than a few. How many people called this movie formulaic is beyond me because frankly they were totally different.

Soul Food (2000–2004)

Excellent Show

This show is excellent. I think that it tops the movie. All of the actors are great and the storyline keeps me interested. Now in its second season, Soul Food is proving that the great writing, acting, directing, and everything else of th first season wasn't a fluke. I hope to see this show around for a long time.

Double Take (2001)

This Movie is Great!

Double Take is a great movie. I laughed a lot and had a great time in the theater. Eddie Griffen and Orlando Jones both gave excellent performances as did the rest of the cast. The storyline was cool and I liked the plot twists a lot. The trailer made the story seem way different, so you were surprised and I like that. All in all, the movie did it's job. It gets a 10 from me.

Save the Last Dance (2001)

Excellent Film

I just saw Save the Last Dance and I loved it. Julia Stiles is now one of my favorite actresses. She and Sean Patrick Thomas share a chemistry that makes every scene seem so real. I also enjoyed the performances of Fredro Starr and the rest of the cast. I am definately going to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD. Despite what others might say and have said, MTV makes great films(The Wood is one of my top three, and I loved Varsity Blues and Can't Hardly Wait). Anyway, I recommend this movie. 10 out of 10.

Finding Forrester (2000)

Excellent Movie

I think "Finding Forrester" is an excellent film. I have not seen "Good Will Hunting", which is surprising as I am a big movie person, but had I seen it, I doubt that it would change my view on this movie. I loved it. I think that Robert Brown did an excellent job, especially for his first acting endeaver. He and Sean Connery share a chemistry that is indescribable. I'd like to see them together again sometime. Also, I think that Gus Van Sant is an excellent director. I found nothing wrong with this movie. Despite what others may say, I recommend seeing the movie as soon as possible. 10 out of 10.

Requiem for a Dream (2000)

You Think You Know

I have already posted a comment praising this movie. This comment is directed toward all who have commented negatively about the film. I am the first to say that everyone is entitled to their opinion, as I believe this is true. However, many people have said that this is a bad movie because the cinematography is unoriginal. In case you all have not looked at the trivia section of this movie, it contains over 2000 cuts, as the average movie contains around 700. Also, some people said this movie is unrealistic. I am willing to put my life on the line and bet that 99 percent of those who said that have never been a heroin addict, let alone tried the drug. I have never used drugs, but I have friends who have(Even one who lost his life this summer because he jumped out of a car under the influence of speed). None of us know what it is like to be drug addicts. And in case some of you don't know, screenwriters do usually research things before they write about them, as do actors before they portray something. With this said, I would like to say once more that I respect everyone's opinion, but the reasons for those opinions may not be solid.

Requiem for a Dream (2000)

Excellent Movie

I had anticipated seeing this movie about a year and a half ago when I found out about it because Marlon Wayans,my favorite actor, is in it. Not to say that he gave the top performance of the movie, as to me Mrs. Burstyn did that, but I have always respected him as an actual actor as opposed to just a funny guy used for comic relief. I'm really glad to see that maybe now others will respect him as an actor as I do. Now that I've given props to my man Marlon, I would like to say that Requiem for a Dream is one of the best, if not the best movie I have ever seen and it is now one of my favorites. I had read so much about how graphic the movie was before I saw it that it really didn't seem too graphic to me other than the last Connelly scene. She gets major respect as an actress for what she did as do all the actors of the cast. I will stop here because I think my point has been made. Great director. Great cast. Great movie. Check it out. 10 out of 10.

The Wood (1999)

One of my favorite movies

I have three favorite movies: Senseless, The Wood, and How To Be A Player. I love The Wood because even though I didn't grow up in as rough a place as Inglewood, CA, I can still relate to the situations in this movie. I am only 16 but I have experienced almost everything that Mike, Roland, and Slim went through as teenagers. I am an aspiring actor and movies like this make me look forward to the experience of acting on the big screen even more. I idolize all three of the main characters(Epps, Diggs, and Jones). I really enjoyed the actors who played the younger versions. They were all great. This is an excellent film that can be loved by all. I give it a 10.

Funniest Spoof of All Time

Scary Movie has got to be the funniest spoof I've ever seen. It kept me rolling all the way through. I like the way the writers used direct dialogue from the original "Scream" and implemented lots of stuff from the other movies throughout. I think I that I may have enjoyed some of the stuff more than some people because they used some stuff that not everyone might remember from some of the movies, especially "Scream". I found out about this movie sometime last summer and I was very excited because the Wayans are my favorite comedic people and Marlon Wayans is my favorite actor. As time went on and I read some reviews I was wondering how the gross out jokes would be and I found them to be hilarious. I think that anyone who is easily offended should stay away from this film and anyone who thinks too much when he/she goes to the movies should stay away from this film, but if you're like me and just like movies, and go to comedies simply for the purpose of laughing and that reason only, then I strongly suggest this movie. ASAP. I give it a 10.

I think that the Wayans are masters of comedy and I look forward to "Fairy Godbrothas" and "My Kinda Town," if these two projects are still in the works. Big ups to the other writers as well. I think that Anna Farris had the most amazing performance in the film. She really portrayed her character perfectly. The cast as a whole was excellent. I liked Shawn Wayans performance as well as Jon Abrahams. Cheri Oteri was hilarious also as Gail Hailstorm. I loved the cameos by Keenan Ivory Wayans and James Van Der Beek. Can't leave out Marlon Wayans. Shorty was hilarious, so was the killer. This movie gave an opportunity for every cast member to shine and be hilarious. I will not name them all but I think they all did an excellent job. By now the picture should be clear, Scary Movie is hilarious, non-stop laughs!

One of the funniest movies I have ever seen

This is one of my favorite comedy movies of all time. I already give it second funniest spoof ever,the Wayans' "Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In the Hood" being number one. I will even say that the two films are a tie. I have read comments of people saying that they liked movies like "The Naked Gun" better. The Naked Gun was funny but does not compare to this movie, in my opinion, of course. I go to a comedy for two reasons and two reasons only. To be entertained and to laugh my a** off. I was entertained and I certainly laughed my a** off. I thought the gross-out humor was better than any movie I've ever seen. I think the Wayans are the masters of comedy. I don't understand, everyone loved "There's Something About Mary", a movie that I thought was hilarious, but it didn't make me laugh every minute like this movie did. It had gross-out humor and nobody was offended. Now all of a sudden it is offensive and tasteless. I don't care what is done in a movie as long as it makes me laugh. To anyone who had a problem with the way he material in this movie was presented, I say lighten up a bit. I mean, if you thought it wasn't funny, that's all well and good, but don't diss the material and the writers. I give it a 10.

The Funniest Spoof of All Time

This movie is the funniest I have ever seen. If there ever were a movie that truly gave a laugh a minute, it would be this one. Some people did not like how the writers were toward some of the subject matter but I don't really get into all that when I watch a movie, especially a comedy. I feel as though comedy is a way of looking at things in a lighter fashion. If you think about it, anything can be funny and I think that one of the elements that makes the Wayans family so funny is their ability to make light of things that wouldn't normally be funny. I have the same personality like that so I guess it is easier for me, I don't know. Enough of that. If you've seen all the movies that this movie spoofs then it should be even more hilarious. I think that the members Wayans family are the rulers of comedy. I have been waiting for the upcoming Scary Movie for over a year and a half. I know it will be just as funny as this. Don't Be A Menace is a MUST SEE if you like comedy. As just about always, I give this movie a 10.

Saturday Night Live (1975– )

Hilarious, but could be better

I refuse to criticize a show for having some bad sketches or even some bad episodes. Sometimes the jokes just don't work on certain nights. This even happened to the great "In Living Color" a couple times, not very often. The cast is great and have great chemistry. One thing I do not like is that certain cast members are not in that many sketches. I never see Tracy Morgan in a sketch unless they need a bartender or something. If anyone has ever seen an episode of Martin where Morgan played Hustleman they would know how talented and funny he is. They should possibly think about putting a character like that for him on the show. Also, Chris Parnel isn't in that many sketches, but I saw somew things that he did do that were funny. The one with Juliana Marguiles when they had to spit the food in Chris Kattan's mouth was nasty, but hilarious. I am 16 years old and have been watching SNL ever since I can remember because my parents used to watch it. When MadTV came out I started watching that instead and I must say that it was definately a better show than SNL for its first three seasons. Somewhere in 1998 I sarted back watching SNL and I now watch both. They are both hilarious shows, but I miss "In Living Color." It was the best.

Boys Don't Cry (1999)

An excellent film that presents reality

This is an excellent film that tells a true story and it tells this story without trying to change the people involved. I respect the writers for this. Though I knew I was watching a movie, in a way I felt like I was watching life, if that statement is understandable. Although I do not support the lifestyle Brandon Teena lived, I still can feel nothing but complete sympathy for this human being. Just because I don't condone homosexuality and things of that nature, I feel as though it is the person's choice and they should be able to live just as any other human being should. Having said that, I must also say this: I have not researched the story of Brandon Teena and know only what I've seen on television and movies. I am going by the story I heard and believe. Enough about the actual event, about the movie. I think that writers of this film did a great job of making one feel sympathetic toward Brandon without making her look like she was a perfect person. They presented the story from an outside view without taking sides, leaving the viewer to make the decision. I think the cast as a whole did an excellent job, especially Hilary Swank and Chloe Sevigny. Swank is now one of my favorite actresses. I give this movie a 10.

The Sixth Man (1997)

A Great Movie

This movie is excellent. It is hilarious and has great drama. Kadeem Hardison and Marlon are just as convincing as brothers as Marlon is with his real life brother Shawn on "The Wayans Bros." The acting was great, the comedy was great, and the writing was great. This is the film that made me look at Marlon Wayans as more than just a funny guy, but also as a very talented actor. I give this movie a 10.

Shaft (2000)

Still the man! Any questions?

I thought Shaft was an excellent film. I think that John Singleton is one of the best, if not the best director out there. Samuel L. Jackson is the man. He played this role perfectly. All the costars were great and I loved how they fit used Richard Roundtree. This film was filled with action, laughs, and suspense. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good blockbuster. 10 out of 10.

Mission: Impossible II (2000)

Not a dull moment throughout

When watching this film in the theater, not once did I find myself waiting for something exciting to happen because there was always something good going on, even if it wasn't action. The movie was extremely action packed and had a good storyline. I think all the cast gave good performances. I don't care what anyone says about the movie, I thought it was tight. The story was great, the action was intense, and it kept me interested. I give it a 10.

In Living Color (1990–1994)

The Funniest Sketch Comedy Show of All Time

"In Living Color" is by far the best sketch comedy show of all time. Though I love SNL and Mad TV, I think "In Living Color" tops them both. I love Jim Carrey and think he is one of the funniest people ever, but people seem to always associate Jim Carrey as the biggest star of the show when it was actually Damon Wayans. Though I liked all of the cast members, and Marlon Wayans in my favorite actor, David Alan Grier and Damon Wayans are my favorite cast members. This show gets a 10.

Senseless (1998)

This is a great movie.

Critics often judge comedies very harshly. However, if I were a critic I would find it very hard to give this movie a bad rating because not only is it a funny movie, it is also a "good" movie. Marlon Wayans is my favorite actor and I think he did a great job playing Darryl Witherspoon. Critics also often harshly judge comedians and "funnymen." This is usually because they think that they can't really act, although, that is not usually the case. The same goes for this film. Wayans did an exceptional acting job when it came to dramatic parts in the film, like being turned down when he wanted to pledge as a Kappa. This reminds me of Jim Carrey in "The Truman Show." Carrey really didn't have the respect of critics until this film came out. I also enjoyed the comedy of Matthew Lillard and David Spade. Also, Rip Torn did a great job. Overall, I give this movie a 10.

The Wayans Bros. (1995–2023)

This is great show.

The Wayans Brothers is my favorite show. Marlon Wayans is my favorite actor. Need I say more. This show has got to be the funniest I've ever seen. Well, a tie with "In Living Color," which Marlon was also in. The Wayans really know how to entertain people and that's what makes the Wayans brother so great. Marlon will do anything and Shawn has his own style of humor. I give this how a 10.

The Cosby Show (1984–1992)

This is one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

The Cosby Show is one of my favorite television shows ever, if not my favorite. Bill Cosby is one of the funniest people ever in my opinion. The entire cast was great. The show should've never been cancelled.
