Hardball (2001)
Very good
28 February 2002
i think the very best Baseball film of all time is "Sandlot". However this move really touched me. I cried so hard that I actually got sick. It really affected me. That is something we want our ART to do. Mission accomplished. I strongly recommend this film

Stigmata (1999)

Disappointment
15 September 1999
this film was a big disappointment. Byrne was good as the priest, but the rest of the cast was a joke. I love Nia Long, but she was wasted in this film. Stigmata would have been better with a story line that defined the common person, in contact with Jesus. The endless rain...was that necessary. Poor effort

Don't take it too seriously
15 September 1999
This was a very good film, although not quite the version given in the Bible. Good plot idea having Rameses actually care about his brother Moses. More CB DeMille than the Bible. still worth a viewing. Hey and the music was good, much better than most animation films.

Bowfinger (1999)
Best comedy of 1999
17 August 1999
By now everyone has a good idea of the plot of this film. Best scene is the parking lot. a sure classic. This is the kind of scene that will be done up again in a Police Story or Hot Shots type movie. This film will on many of the top ten lists. Best comedy in the last two years. Better than Truman, Something about Mary, etc. Best Steve Martin film of the 90's Murphy does another excellent job of bringing more than one character to one film. This time with little make up. Go see this!! The audience applauded loudly at my cinema.

A must see
2 August 1999
I could watch this film at least once a day. Rich in sight gags and double takes. The Boys at their very BEST. It is a shame that the younger computer/films in color generation does not have a real appreciation for the Boys. My favorite scene is the floor show at the night club. Note the third rate chorus line, in particular the cutie with the special moves. I have never seen a group so bad, but they are charming.makes you want to sing and dance along with them. Also Ollie reading the newspaper story about the shipwreck . instant panic by Stany. Watch this scene in slow motion on your vcr to get a classic Stanny moment. Also, cannot leave out the news reel scene in the movie theatre. Loads and loads of fun. In fact, I am going to look for my copy now. Great Fun when you are having a bad day.

Sabu at his best
27 July 1999
Sabu at his charming best. still very Young and slight of frame, he invokes the dream of adventure in every child and grown up. Best scenes are the theft of the eye of the goddess and first encounter with the genie. Also a very good love story. June Duprez was a true beauty and John Justin handsome and sensitive.Their yearning, passion bring tears. good film for young and old.

Thoughtful look at the future
27 July 1999
I first saw this film 40 years ago on N.Y. television, and thought it was a depressing look at the future. Wells sees restriction of private freedoms as a good thing. (" no private airplanes". The 30 year plus war in the film was the reason this film was not shown to British film goers doing the war. The concept of the future, and the Korda an Co. concept of the the machines of the future are the real stars of the film. The very best acting performance is that of Ralph Richardson as the Boss. A combination of Winston Churchill and Edina from Absolutely Fabulous comedy series. It is interesting to note that the Boss's negative personality is somewhat similar to the war time Churchill.

Duel. wow!
18 July 1999
Stewart Granger at his prettiest. Above average film and story. However the final dueling scene maybe just about the very best of its kind. Worth sitting thru the entire film for the fantastic duel between Granger and Mel Ferrer

Cleopatra (1934)
De Mille At his corniest.
18 July 1999
This is one of the corniest films of all time. But it is such Fun ! The banquet scene, the war montage are just priceless. However the lines...only in a de mille movie could such dialogue be accepted. Also note that as in many De mille films, you hear random voices from the crowds. Pay particular attention to Henry Wilcoxin as Anthony. Virile, Strong, Manly and a hoot. Pop some corn and just enjoy!

One of the Very Best
9 July 1999
This is Errol Flynn at his very best. Terrific costumes and music score. Also, Basil Rathbone, possibly the best swordsman in Hollywood adds much to the film. I never miss this film when it appears on t.v. Full of good cheer and adventure.

Interesting version
9 July 1999
This is quite an interesting version of the 3 Musketeers. It does not follow all of the book, and ends about half way into the book. I thought Walter Abel was great in this version. If you see the 1948 Gene Kelly version, you will note that Kelly definitely copies the Abel look for the hero. Also another great film score. Favorite scenes include, the Assembled body of the Musketeers at their fencing exercises, and the meeting between the Queen her English lover. Action packed, because it is shorter than most versions, and quite stirring.

King Kong (1933)
A Classic
7 July 1999
I was able to see this film on the Big Screen about 30 years ago. It was terror in Black and White. I did see the racial over tones. Big black guy falls for white woman, goes to the big city and meets his down fall. Should have stayed with his own kind.
