The A-List (2015)

Funny Satirical Piece
14 December 2015
What the other reviews are neglecting to tell you, is that this film is satire. It is not meant to be taken seriously. Think of "Not Another Teen Movie", but slightly more grounded. It is silly and outrageous. But this is by design.

Eric Schultz is the most popular guy in school. Why? All thanks to "The A List", a social network that has him in the number one spot. Students and Faculty fawn over him in every manner. But, Eric comes to learn popularity isn't everything.

Once you realize this film is making fun of how much importance teens are giving technology, you can enjoy this film. The characters are stereotypes, but each lead is played well.

Above all, the film has a nice message, which is: put away the cell phone. Don't worry about labels. Be yourself.

This film is not award winning material, but it is entertaining enough if you and your friends can't agree on anything in their Netflix queue. Give it a try.

"Fight Club" for Facebook users.
23 October 2010
"The Social Network" is one of those films that is rare in its ability to spark conversation. When the film ends, you can't help but turn to your friend or family member and instantly start talking about what you saw.

The film tells the story of Mark Zuckerburg, the 24 year old who created Facebook, and is now a billionaire. Intertwined with the site's creation, are scenes showing Mark getting sued by his best friend, as well as other business partners.

The actors in this film aren't too well known (except, Justin Timberlake.) But, all actors do a phenomenal job. You are sucked into the story and forget you're seeing a film. You think you're seeing the actual events occur. Its that believable. Jesse Eisenberg, who plays Mark, really shines in his role. Justin Timberlake is good also.

The writing is particularly good. All characters are unique in voice. Dialog is quick, as it can be in real-life.

The film is directed by David Fincher, who gave us 'Fight Club.' Now, of course, 'The Social Network' doesn't have blood or strange twists. But, Mr. Fincher has seemed to recreate the visual style of 'Fight Club.' The most notable similarity is the film's musical score. While composed by different artists than 'Fight Club', it is a non-traditional score. The music is like a playlist for a college party, thus emulating the college atmosphere.

If you are a Facebook user, this film should be on your list to see. In the theaters. You will not be disappointed.

The film's last scene is genius, having a moral revealed to the audience, and is so relatable to many Facebook users.

The film's only downfall is its length. I found it to be a tad long. But, other than that, this film is top notch and will have you thinking and will cause your jaw to drop at the final cut to black.

Devil (2010)
8/10
Pretty Darn Good.
25 September 2010
This film had a lot of bad rep. Everyone kept saying it was going to be horrible. However, I still went to see it, as the story and the concept interested me.

Now, in my opinion, the film is right up there with The Sixth Sense. It's engaging, keeps you guessing, and you leave feeling like you just saw a darn good movie.

The film doesn't rely on gore heavily. Instead, the film wants you to guess just who is the devil in that elevator. The story is fresh and makes a clear connection between all characters.

The bottom line is-- sure, it's not the best film ever, but it is a pretty darn good one. 8/10.

The one sequel that comes close to being as good as the first film.
4 February 2007
Cinderella III is the story of our beloved Disney Princess celebrating her one year anniversary married to the prince. The Fairy Godmother is there as well, and carelessly flings her wand in the bushes while singing. The wand lands in the hands of Anastasia, one of Cinderella's stepsisters. And soon, the wicked stepmother takes matters into her own hands by reversing time to when the duke arrived to try the slipper on the feet of the stepsisters. BUT, this time- the wand is used to make it fit Anastaia's foot. From there, a suspenseful series of events follow Cinderella as she tries to set things right.

This film is amazing. It is the best Disney sequel I've seen to date. The animation isn't the quality of a theatrical release, but it much better than most direct-to-video films are.

The story is very suspenseful and creative. It is slightly predictable, but aside from that, it keeps your attention and not once will you be bored.

The acting is wonderful. The voices are obviously not that of the original film, but the actors do their best to bring feeling to the characters, and that is what matters. (In my opinion, the actress who voices Anastasia did a wonderful job.) The film contains some new songs. No song is as great as anything you'd find in a golden Disney film, but again- these songs are ones you want to listen to again. Along with the songs, the score to the film is wonderful especially in climactic scenes. And yes- there are "action" scenes in this film, and they are wonderful.

This film wasn't made for money. It was made to please all the fans who were disappointed in "Cinderella 2." And let me tell you, Disney did something right with a sequel for once.

Strangers with Candy (1999–2000)
8/10
Learning all the right lessons the wrong way.
11 January 2007
"Strangers With Candy" is the clever show from the comedy team of "Exit 57." Jeri Blank is 46 and just got out of prison. She decides to start her life over, and that means entering high school as a freshman. As she starts her life over, she learns life's important lessons, all the wrong way. The show is hilarious in all respects. The show follows the old formula of each episode dealing with one situation of a teenager's life and how they learn from it. However, things are warped in this show's universe. I tell you, laughing will never stop. The show is filled with one liners, characters are hilariously funny, situations are turned upside down, and each end credits segment has a unique dance sequence! Pick up the Series DVD today!

The Obsession (2006 TV Movie)
3/10
Yikes.
18 July 2006
This film had promise with its story. I sadly have to agree with the other comments. The result of the film was terrible. The main reason being the acting of the actress who played Erika. She forced every line and was very poor. I too was wondering why she got the role. The other problem would have to be the MANY montages we have of Erika dancing. Half the film is Reed thinking of her dance and it gets boring (Although, a creep like Reed may ALWAYS think of the obsession.)The positive thing would be the actress who played the mother as well as the actor who played Reed were good. But overall, the films two problems out shined the positive.

The Producers (2005)
7/10
Either a hit or miss.
3 January 2006
"The Producers" is (for lack of a better word) Interesting. This film is simply either a hit or miss. The story is:An out of work producer Max, (Lane) meets with an accountant Leo,(Brodrick) who learns that from Max's previous play earnings, there is $2,000 unaccounted for. Together, they figure out that they can get more money by producing a flop instead of a hit. They find the worst script, director, and cast and THINK they have got it made.

The acting is good, but over the top. All the principals are wonderful here. People have commented on Brodrick's performance. I think he was great. Remember- he played the role on Broadway.

This film is very funny. Over the top and has wonderful jokes. The music is OK, but not award winning material. If you are into musicals, this is a hit. If not, I'd skip this film.

Test Screening version should of been final cut.
25 July 2004
Story: Joanna is a TV producer. Her planned show goes wrong, and she gets fired. She then moves her family to Stepford, a little community where everyone smiles... all the time. Joanna sees this is odd and disovers the secret of "THE STEPFORD WIVES."

Review: This film has the cast to attract veiwers, thats no question. The acting is fine. The reason this film is so "bad" is because of the editing job.

For some reason, scenes were changed and the film tried to change the plot (what exactly are the wives) The editing in the final version has scenes that were meant to show the other plot of "what are the wives" and it gets confusing. The one thing that worked with this was the ending was changed. (It didn't make sense in the test screening)

The good thing is, that if you can look past the plot holes you can enjoy the film. But- the test screening version was much better! Hope for a great dvd.

Scare Tactics (2003–2013)
Scare Tactics: so scary, you'll laugh!
4 April 2003
This is by far, the funniest "hidden camera" show I've seen. The plot is simple: A person has some one that they want to scare. Scare Tactics sets up the scene, as something will happen, that will scare the crap out of the victum, while making the viewer laugh so hard!

So far, the show has done:

A boyfriend and Girlfriend are set up to see Aliens come to earth, and the girlfriend nearly has a heart attack!

A man who can't speak english very well, goes to a coffin store, and his girlfriend gets locked inside, and ends up getting buried alive!

A sister sets up her brother to meet a crazed hitchicker who has a human head in his bag, which the brother sees and goes nuts.

A woman witnesses a kidnapping, and can't move afterwords.

Those are just a few. This is will make your primetime veiwing list! Scfi Ch. Friday nights, 9:00 p.m.

Hansel & Gretel (I) (2002)
A twisted fairy tale
5 February 2003
Hansel and Gretel, is the story of two kids who meet a witch in a house made of gingerbread. But this version, is twisted.

The stepmother, wants to live in a house with a tv, and thinks the kids will stop her from that. So, she takes them into the woods, and leaves. Hansel & Gretel get lost, and meet the sandman, a wood fairy and the troll.

But, a "twister" blows them towards a gingerbread house, and a near-sited old woman comes out, offering them food... but, the woman is not what she seems...

This film has a great cast, and the story is great. But, there are several gags that slow down the storyline. One of which, is that the story is being told by a father telling his children. (the father is "reading" the book, but makes things up, which explains the twisted version)

This film is good, but the gags might tempt you to turn it off, before you even see the witch in her gingerbread house.

Chicago (2002)
A very good film
26 January 2003
I have never seen a musical film like this. It is the best musical to movie film ever!

The story: Roxie Hart is a young woman who wants nothing but to have her own act on stage. Her boyfriend (she is cheating, she's got a husband.) has promised an agent that will give her just that.

But things turn out to be just the oppisite, and Roxie reaches for the gun in her underwear drawer. So, Roxie ends up in the slammer.

There, she meets some interesting women that have all killed their husbands at some point. Roxie learns she will have to go to Trial. The female Officer that is called "Momma" tells her she can give her what she wants...FAME and a GOOD LAWYER... but if she pays her $100.

So, she ends up getting a lawyer that can win every case... but lying and cheating!!! Will Roxie get "not guilty" Go see the film!!!

But now, this is a musical right? Yes! As Roxie meets various characters, she imagines them singing. (As a musical number is being preformed, it goes from the real world, to Roxies mind...) It is very hard to explain... But I assure you will enjoy this film!

The Witches (1990)
An "ok" film
9 January 2003
The Witches is a story of a boy, who lives with his "Grandmamma." She tells stories of witches and what not. Soon, the boy stumbles among a "witch meeting" and plans to destroy them with their own evil "mouse making" spell.

This film is very interesting, and is great for a "weekend getaway" night. I must say, that some scenes will scare younger kids, so put the little ones to bed.

I give this film 8/10.
