The Protégé (2021)

Derivative but enjoyable
23 August 2021
We've seen it all before but it's well made, the female killing action is fairly believable, Maggie is smoking, Keaton plays it just right. Think Mr. And Mrs. Smith between them. I'd watch a part 2.

Stretching his acting chops.

There's enough Adkins fights and action to hold you over until the Isaac Florentine directed "Seized" gets released. This isn't a Florentine or Jesse V. Johnson flick but, if you're an Adkins fan, a true fan, you'll like this movie.

Mile 22 (2018)
7/10
It's an action movie.
18 August 2018
As I read reviews for summer action movies, reviews that position these movies as something that they are not; these are popcorn, leave your brain at the door action movies, I'm left to assume that these less than honest reviews are trolling reviews.

Mile 22, The Meg, John Wick... do what they are produced to do; entertain regardless of physics, gravity or good sense.

Ebert knew this; review a movie for its purpose and audience.

Mile 22 does what it was made to do; to distract you from your everyday life. Serious it is not, full of gun fu, car chases, violence and revenge, it's nothing new, if you're looking for this type of movie you won't be disappointed.

Painful, just terrible.
14 February 2018
It's so focused on one issue to pull it's humor from that it's ultimately a boring repeat of itself.

Educational Movie - Made For TV Quality
13 November 2014
Well we saw the movie. It wasn't what I expected. I thought it was going to be a regular movie. Instead, it was an educational movie; he gave you different reasons, ideas and ways to think about the Christmas of today. He also discussed how the different factions would like you to think about Christmas; it's all Pagan, there's nothing about Christ left in it, why the tree, why the 25th of December, etc., and how to keep it based on faith, etc. Not bad. Internet Haters will hate on this but this movie isn't for the regular movie public, it's for believers and kids. I do agree that the poster is misleading; if you judge the movie by the poster you would think that it's a comedy - family - faith based movie. It's not, it's an educational, faith based movie, with a few laugh, but it's not a scripted comedy in the least. Run time was short as well which was good. Pretty tight and to the point.

A fun, super violent and very bloody romp of a movie
23 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
We hit up the 10:00 PM preview of this horror movie. I loved this movie! Sure it steals from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Scream" and many other horror movies; it steals the cameras styles, the acting, and many of the tired clichés but, they somehow rise above all this stealing to ultimately come up with a fun, super violent and very bloody romp of a movie. Some might position this as nothing but a "Scream" style rip off. Yes, it has some of those qualities but what moves this beyond those comedies is this movie is pretty vicious. The kill scenes are brutal and fun and the female hero'ish, sort of Sigourney Weaver'ish actress, just kills it and many people. If you're into these, bloody, slasher, home invasion, twisty plots and endings, movies, this will rock you. If not, you're missing out on the most fun I've had all summer.

Old News but an update for one reviewer....
7 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This is for the person who posted this: "Despite all of the people putting this film down as a hoax, they still haven't been able to explain how the autopsy footage was physically on celluloid examined and *VERIFIED* by Kodak technicians as being 50 years old and developed in 1947. The documentary shows very clearly the code symbols on the leader of the film (a circle and a triangle) that Kodak used back then to indicate the year the film was developed. Sure, you could put those symbols on a fake film (if you were even aware that Kodak did that back then), but you would be putting them on NEW celluloid. Even if unexposed movie film from that era was still around and available for exposure, it would still not be usable due to deterioration of the chemicals over time. The fact that the autopsy was physically on 50 year-old celluloid, and developed back then, is pretty convincing for me. "

This is not the case. No film with ANY image from this video was ever verified, period. Clear leader was shown to Kodak in Hollywood and the rest of the verification was done over the phone based on the 3 edge code markings from that clear leader. Again, ZERO film with image has ever been seen, dated or even touch by anyone outside of the Santilli camp, and even then, there's no proof they ever saw any film with the released alien autopsy image(s) on it.

This movie isn't supposed to have a deep message.
14 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
All Stone was paid to do was recount the story of these two guys, what happened to them, how that affected his family and what the over all reaction to the crisis was at the time of the crisis.

In this he did very well.

He certainly didn't JFK the story.

Good job, and if you didn't know it was Stone as the director, you wouldn't have known it. That's a sign of a good director letting the script tell the story.

And like it or not, Cage did an admirable job. He didn't do his often over acting thing.

Blood Beach (1980)
5/10
Come on, 80's horror at it's best!
11 February 2005
It may not be great but, it's got John Saxon in it, it's got a bit of blood and hell, it's not any worse than all the rest of the flicks that had Blood in the title from this period. And it must have been at least a pain in the ass to do those "sinking in the sand" effects!

Maybe if they release this thing on DVD (why are most of the Vestron flicks still not out?), may be then it'll get at least the same attention and cult like favor that My Bloody Valentine and other such crap gets.

All in all, a drive-in classic. After all that's what it was made for!

See it and judge for yourself!
