Curious George (2006)
Finally a kid's movie ... for kids (go figure)
It was so refreshing to take my kids to movie and not have to worry about a bunch of toilet humor passing itself (pun intended) as appropriate for kids. While I know Shrek and similar movies have made a fortune doing this very thing, I am always disappointed that children's movies, or the more pervasive, family movies, have lowered themselves to such a level.
My thanks to the creators and the studio for finally taking a kid's story and actually staying true to the material (examples of the opposite are both the recent Grinch and Cat in the Hat movies). My hope is that we'll see a revival of children's movies in the G category as opposed to the already glutted PG market.
Bless the Child (2000)
excellent film with (finally) a very positive message
I saw this movie over the labor day weekend and was very pleased . The special effects were great and the suspense is kept at a high level throughout the film. It's nice to see someone take a chance on a movie that actually shows God in a positive light and does such an amazing job of pitting the forces of good and evil against one another. A fine film with a couple of violent scenes, but a nice change from the usual Hollywood "cookie-cutter" films.
Odd Jobs (1986)
Great movie, as long as you leave out the last 10 minutes.
Extremely funny movie. As mentioned in the summary, just don't let the lame ending ruin the rest of the movie for you. Several comedians are in this movie, most notably Robert Townsend and Paul Reiser. Also, a very funny performance by Jake of "Body by Jake". Hope you love the movie as much as myself and my friends.
