Deep Blue Sea (1999)

"Who ya gonna trust? Me, that's who..."
28 January 2000
I thought the "Aquatica" setting was really cool, and I would love to have had a tour. But the movie was mostly just your average suspense flick where the volume gets boosted every time something is about to happen. The human chomp clips were fun to watch and I was surprised during one scene. But other than that this film was just a crock. LL Cool J should have been killed at least 3 times, not to mention Thomas Jane's (hard to believe he was Todd in Boogie Nights) final miracle. But we are talking about Renny Harlin here. The man who brought us the 45-second grenades (Die Hard 2), and the "Cliffhanger" grips of steel. I don't regret watching it, but would have to recommend waiting for a free cable weekend.

Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990–2000)
From an entertaining waste of time, to just plain crap!
26 January 2000
I started watching 90210 about 8 years ago when it was in it's second season and was instantly addicted. At first I would not admit it to anyone, but I soon learned that just about everyone I knew also had a guilty addiction to it. Since then I have had a chance to see every episode (excluding the last 2 seasons) more than once thanks to the cheap, but worthwhile FX Network. This show should have been cancelled (or just plain discontinued) after college graduation. In my personal opinion, it should have been nipped after season 6, but it made sense to have seen the college years out.

I tried to watch the post-college years, but the stories got so redundant that I just could not take it any longer. The biggest joke was the fact that Brandon wisely made his exit, and the show still went on. Not to mention that casa Walsh is still being occupied by some of the crew. Don't you think Jim and Cindy would have sold the house after the last family member moved out? Maybe I don't know the whole story there, but it's depressing watching these strangers run around the house without Brandon to supervise. What a shame. I really lost respect for the existing cast members who stuck around after an obvious decline in quality of the program. This week Fox finally recognized that their show had turned to poop and announced the current (10th) season would be it's last. Time for Ian, Jennie, Tori, and especially Brian to prove they have some talent. Not even Aaron Spelling can save them now.

The Boost (1988)
7/10
Very Powerful

I had never heard of this movie until it happened to show up one night on cable. I have always been a fan of James Woods, but never have I seen him in a more convincing role. This is the best rags to riches, then riches to rags flick I have ever seen. Anyone whom has ever been involved in drugs, or has even thought about experimenting with them should watch this film.

Entrapment (1999)
6/10
Could have been worse.....
6 January 2000
Entrapment was a good story with average acting and an attractive cast. The only real problem was that it got big time corny at the end. How many times have we seen this fantasy warp scene crap where the hero seems to have disappeared, but shows up in a flash at an impossible spot? Oh well, the ending did knock my original vote down a point, but the flick is still worth a watch.
