Being Erica (2009–2011)
10/10
Wonderful heart warming show with quirky and upbeat story lines!
27 January 2009
This is the first time I'm addicted to a Canadian show on a Canadian channel! It is such a great show with very interesting characters and a heart warming romantic subplot. I really like how each story centers on the fact that Erica has to go back in time to change something in the past so she can deal with something in the future differently. I really like how this show has quirky and insightful dialogue and I like how Erica is someone many people can relate too. I think many of us would have liked to change something in the past and Erica does that but, at the same time things don't always end perfectly which makes this show more realistic and interesting. This is a show where a normal person is put in an extraordinary situation but because she's a real person with real problems, she can pull it off and she does!

Almost as bad as The Hulk
22 May 2007
Great special effects but bad story! I didn't care about anyone in this movie, not the guy not the girl. I didn't care if the guy got the girl. Well I did care about one person and largely because he's a very good actor and his character had the most depth, guess who? Harry. He was the only likable character of the main trio. Who else did I like? Gwen & Venom - also more depth. I really liked Venom. It's funny in a movie where you are supposed to be rooting for the heroes I was rooting for Venom and Harry. How odd. If they were to do this movie again, they should get a better story, one where you actually care about the characters. What's with the marriage plot? They are like 25. Average age to get married in this society 30. It was like a plot from 1910 or trying to marry people off at 18. In a movie, movies about marriage don't really cut it unless they are for 12 year olds, epics or romantic comedies with lots of crude fart jokes. I hate when they do this. They did it to superman: lois and clark. That was such a great show but then they tried to make superman a daddy. The action was great in this film but in the final action scene, I found myself saying 'is it over?' why because I didn't care. And also it didn't make sense. I mean Harry lives through being smashed against a brick wall, falling 50 feet, and a killer explosion with only second degree burns. Like come on. Spiderman saved him in the beginning in two seconds by rushing him to a hospital, like he couldn't manage that again in the 10 minutes of sap. He certainly had enough time.

Joan of Arcadia (2003–2005)
Girl gets in touch with the higher power and deals with high school
3 December 2003
I Like: The actress who plays Joan Some of the missions that Joan is sent on The plot of the story Joan's father Joan's brother in a wheel chair and his chemistry with the woman at the newspaper. The themes in the stories and the moral message of the show. There need to be more shows like this that have a strong moral message. This show is great for teenagers who want to have something to watch with their parents and even for teenagers who want to watch it alone.

------------------------------------------------------ The first half of the show is entertaining as unpredictable events are being established and formed and characters are developing. The second 1/4 of the show is somewhat o.k. because it sets the crisis. The crisis has a usually predictable outcome or so I find!!! so the Last 1/4 of the show is predictable, usually sappy and boring! I find myself looking at the clock in this time. The only time I end up paying attention again is in the last 2 minutes where the emotions come out.

which leads me to what I dislike: Joan's one dimensional friends who aren't even real friends. The attention being taken away from Joan and placed on her father The cookie cutter way in which the show is divided up to enable time for each character in the family to have some screen time. The lack of character dimention in most of the characters. Joan is one of the only character that comes to life because the actress who plays her is so damn good and she is given a bit more depth! She carries the show along with her father who also does the same. The older brother also does well! He is really good!

It seems to me as if every character (not actors) on the show wants to be the star. In other shows, you have fictional characters that know that they are second to the lead. In this show the fictional characters (not the actors) seem like they don't realize this and are hogging half the limelight. Maybe, I'm bothered by this because they seem fake. Why is the lesbo so one dimential? She's predictable. She's going to turn out to be straight and have a relationship that will shock everybody on the show but no one in the audience! Another fact that bugs me is in order for Joan's actions to seem so strange, she should be a little more reluctant in doing the things that are asked of her by the higher power. Joan doesn't question anything! Why wouldn't she question her mission more?

This is the MAJOR THING THAT BUGS ME!!!!

Why does Joan hang out with such loser's! No offence but her friends are drags! It is one thing to be unpopular. I was always part of the more rebelious, free thinking crowd but, Joan's friends seem as if they don't even like her. They seem indifferent to her! Why is she friends with them. It doesn't seem realistic. A PRETTY GIRL LIKE THAT WOULD HAVE TONS OF FRIENDS AND TONS OF GUYS HITTING ON HER. THE ACTRESS WHO PLAYS JOAN IS PERFECT!

-The one thing I liked about her lesbian friend was that she staged a rally to support Joan but again that seemed mroe of a function of plot.

This show is driven by plot and structure more so than character and unique and experiences. It needs writers that will lift it out of it's shell. I'm not saying they should make it shocking like '24', 'Alias', 'Nip Tuck' or 'Dead Like Me' althought they are my favourite shows so far! but it needs a soul.

I'm sure somebody wants to change the world with this series and believe me a lot of episodes get me to think about issues and some even make me cry. After about 15, episodes I'll probably get sick of it though if something doesn't hook me. It took me 10 episodes to get hooked on 'Dead like Me'. I was negative towards it at the start because I hated the narration. Then, I grew to like it and truly appreciate the uniqueness of the characters and plot. I latched on to a lot of characters and the black humour in this show.

This show has to decide who it's target market is. It has to decide whether it wants to be more of a comedy, black comedy or drama. Some jokes just don't make me laugh. That's a bad sign. I'm a big fan of 'Ab Fab', 'Friends', and 'Dead Like Me' (and other black comedies) so you know that I have a sense of humour.

In summary, THIS IS A SHOW WITH MUCH POTENTIAL BUT, IT HAS TO BE DEVELOPED MORE AND HAVE MORE THAN ONE FACTOR WHICH HOOKS SOMEBODY TO IT. For now mine is the actres why plays Joan. People like to swing between hooks. I'm swinging towards the father. The only problem is, he doesn't seem like a father. I don't know if I'll latch on to him.

THEY NEED TO PUT IN A 'NEW SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO' AND QUICK. BY EPISODE 15, viewers will decide whether to stick or bail.

Think, 'My So Called Life on Acid' - An entertaining show about growing up in the afterlife
7 November 2003
For people who watched the first three episodes and made up their mind not to like to show, I challenge you to watch again. I didn't care for the show from the first three episodes but in about the fourth or fifth episode, it started getting really good! The lead actress is amazing! There is a lot of voice over and many people could probably not pull it off without it growing boring but she does an excellent job! The show will make you laugh and cry and surprise you in every way. If you like shows like high quality shows like 24, Alias, Buffy, Nip/Tuck, you will definitely like this show! The characters are interesting and real and are worth getting to know!

Much better than the first!!!!
12 August 2003
I went into this movie expecting a bad movie but, what I got was a lot of fun. It wasn't as good as the last 007 movie with Pierce Brosnan but, it was entertaining!!! The action sequences were great! Laura Croft in this movie was also more of a person in this movie as opposed to the last movie where she was just a set of silicone fake boobs. I enjoyed this movie a lot and I enjoyed Angelina Jolie in it which is a first in a long time! I haven't enjoyed Angelina Jolie in a movie since Girl, Interupted until this movie came along.

Pure Vomit Crap = Don't see at All Costs
23 July 2003
Quite possibly the worst movie ever!!!! Worse than the hulk! Made me want to vomit and never wear pink again!!! Don't see at all costs. It was $4.50 on Tuesday and even that much was too much. I wouldn't recommend seeing it even if it was free. You could spend your time better by talking to someone who bores you to death.

By far = The worst movie of the year!!!!!! Don't let anyone drag you to it! Save yourself!
23 July 2003
What a waste of time! Even on a cheap tuesday!!!! The only people who like this movie are closeted homosexuals who wish that they were wearing pink and had a cute little gay dog too!!!! No body else will enjoy it because it made me want to vomit. I must have said 'Stupid' a gazillion times while watching it. There were only three people in the theatre. I should have known.

Crap of a movie about the guy who created the Gong Show
15 February 2003
I thought this movie was horrible! The only worth watching performance was that of Julia Roberts. I never saw the Gong Show before. I thought this movie sucked. It was sleazy. I'm not a big fan of sleeze but, I enjoyed other movies that delt with a sleezy subject matter such as 'The People Vs. Larry Flynt'. I think the problem was that I really didn't care about the main character. He didn't seem to be anything special, just a sleezy guy! In 'The People Vs. Larry Flynt', there were actually things I liked about the main character although he was sleazy. This movie also wasn't entertaining. Hardly anybody in the movie theatre laughed at any of the 'funny parts'. It was definitely a waste of an evening!

The Ring (2002)

A Scary movie about a tape when watched by a person dooms a person to death within 7 days
2 November 2002
This movie was soooo scary! I've seen other horror movies like The Shining, The Others, The Exorcist, The Innocents that are great movies that scared me while I was watching them but, not afterwards. After I saw 'The Ring', I was scared for days. I couldn't fall asleep at all. It was definitely the most disturbing horror movie that I have ever seen! I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone because, I don't think that it is such a great thing to be scared of a movie after it's over but, if you think that your not scared of horror movies...this is one that you have to see!

A news reporter discovers that she has only a few days to live. She tries to change her life to change her destiny.
9 June 2002
This movie was o.k. It was somewhat entertaining although I would not have cast Angelina Jolie in the part. Frances O'Connor would have been a much better choice. Angelina Jolie wasn't very convincing as a reporter and she did not play well off the main male lead. The pair were lacking of charisma together. Angelina Jolie plays much better off of females like in Gia, Foxfire, or Girl Interupted. I really don't know why she keeps on starring in these boring romance movies like Original Sin, this movie and the next one to come. She has much more chemistry and intrigue on screen opposite females. If she is doing this to prove that she is an actor with greater range, she is ruining her career. She should definitely get a different agent. She used to have flare and personality and come alive on screen but, in this movie and tombraider she just seemed like a cliche of herself and more dead than lively. She should star in more indie movies and start a new image outside of the ugly side of Hollywood mainstream. There are a great deal of good Hollywood movies out there, why is she picking the bad movies?

The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999)
Season 3, Episode 5
1/10
A remake of the original movie of 'Annie', more largely based on the broadway version
3 June 2002
This movie was extremely awful! Annie was my all time favourite musical when I was a kid. Aileen Quinn and Albert Finney really brought the musical to life. Most of the people who complained about the original version complained largely because it strayed from the original broadway plot. They didn't take into account the incredible chemistry between characters in the original. This movie felt dull and lacking of chemistry and vital energy in comparison. The one number that I enjoyed was 'Easy Street' in this version. The rest were dull. Annie in this movie seemed to have less spunk. Aileen Quinn really did a remarkable job when she played Annie. She really brought the character to life. This Annie didn't seem half as tough or convincing. Rent the original if you want to enjoy a musical brought to life for film without the political correctness and mass chease fest!

The lives of rich high school students in Beverly Hills
23 April 2002
The show started out promising but quickly deteriorated after Shannen Doherty left the show. After she left, it became soap-operish and melodramatic. I really liked watching it in the beginning because the characters seemed real but after Doherty left, everything fell apart. The characters became rampid wild sex machines who only cared about themselves.

Alice (2000 Video Game)

A highly entertaining journey with great graphics!!!!
3 December 2001
This is a great, mesmerizing, game that will keep anyone occupied for hours. I didn't stop playing it for three days. It's creepy, dark and disturbing but, most of all fun. The graphics in the game are also very beautiful. Alice is lost in Wonderland only it's a dark wonderland. You must get her out. The game play is smooth. There are hidden rooms and hidden caverns that are even fun to explore once you've completed the game.

Great! This is an awesome movie!
28 September 2001
The scariest movie that I have ever seen! Everything, from the setting, to the sound, to the cinematography, actors and directors make this movie what it is; creepy. This is truly a suspenseful, scary gem! I was frightened for weeks.

This film Sucks!!!!
14 September 2001
This has been the worst film that I have seen in a long time!!!! John Water's has no talent. He's just disgusting and stupid for making such a tasteless film. Yes, he has many wannabe filmaker fans but that's about it!!!! There is nothing to appreciate in his films. They are trying to make some deep point but fail because his movies lack realism and sincerity. He's just trying to shock people in order to get a reaction from pre-pubescent boys or men who never grow up!!!

A documentary detailing the life of one of the wildest and interesting dance choreographer and director of the 20th century.
9 March 2001
Busby Berkeley is a fabulous choreographer and director. This documentary has some of the most wild dance and musical scenes, including some that are very rare and hard to find. If you are interested in finding out more about the man behind his work, I strongly recommend this documentary to you because I truly enjoyed it!
