One of my favorite documentaries
10 May 2004
This is one of the most important documentaries that I have ever seen. I left this movie with the distinct impression that the US government had a hand in assassinating every political leader in the US that I admired. The interviews are great. I show this film to every young person that I meet. A lot of them don't understand that the US has been infiltrating activist groups since well before they were born.

It would be great if there were a sequel that emcompassed the MOVE bombings, Mumia Abu Jamal and the extension of COINTELPRO like activities into the radical environmental movement (Judi Bari, EF!, etc).

Great movie! I highly recommend it!

Hellboy (2004)

It fell completely flat for me.
3 April 2004
I left the movie feeling nothing. I love Ron Perlman and I didn't even recognize him, which I guess is a good sign for his acting ability. It felt like the story was written 50 years ago with the nazis and Rasputin, etc. The effects were decent. I didn't feel much sympathy for hell boy. He made no sense to me. He was a tough guy who was ashamed of his horns? It was like a submessage of the move was that it is okay be ashamed. Hellboy was very fragile when being attacked by one monster, but very strong when attacked by lots. Huh? He was always either getting all his co-workers killed with complete silliness or being absent when Broom is attacked by the corpse. The movie just never clicked for me. I didn't understand the plot at all. It made me want to see Ron Perlman in a real movie.

The plot was interesting
17 January 2000
The basic premise was interesting but Jeff Bridges acting was too heavy handed and I ended up losing my connection with his character. There were also things that just didn't add up plotwise (but I don't want to give away too much). It was okay, but not great.

One of the best bad movies around. A lot of fun!
17 January 2000
This is one of the weirdest and best of the "Attack of the Killer Tomato" school of films. I can't believe it doesn't have a higher rating here. This film seems to their small budget wisely. The special effects are simple yet effective. The clowns are scary and funny at the same time - they need to brush their teeth more often though. I highly recommend this film for anyone with a sense of humor.

Shelley Winters, Peter Falk, Leonard Nimoy - How could you go wrong?
17 January 2000
I admit that the movie is a little slow at times, but the plot and the circumstances, and the celebrities in this film are enough to make it worthwhile. The power struggle scene between Leonard Nimoy and Peter Falk seems to be almost homo-erotic. And seeing Shelley Winters kiss another woman. Too much! This movie is one of my favorites!

Excellent, bizarre film
25 December 1999
Have you ever had a dream and didn't really know if it was a bad dream or a good dream? This movie was like that. Strange, dreamlike, sweet, sinister. I first saw it last year and I have now seen it 6 times at least. Its great for people who like to call people funny names in French (Legume!). The sets were beautiful. The movie was complex and I kept seeing little things that I had missed on previous viewings. See it!
