Anna (1987)
gives you a reason to appreciate independent films, storyline and acting not specialeffx
what makes this film worth watching, other than the unrecognized talent of sally kirkland, is the authentic feel of lower new york and the off broadway scene. the ending is not what i expected and i appreciate the fact that someone knows how to write an ending that makes you think about what you just saw and feel somehting for the characters that you have to think about before you decide exactly what you felt. i saw this film several years after its release and i think if i could vote the oscars now i would vote it in lead actress, screenplay and cinemotagraphy. an excellent film proving creativity not money is what makes something worth watching on screen. 3 and 1/2 stars. timelessly moving

people who relate with this movie ain't on the internet.
No plot, none. Just follow these characters through their unenviable lives. Killing cats is a real pursuit, I was involved in a "feline conspiracy" when I was 8. Small town in Colorado, and the denizens executed the stray cats. Like rats. I can't tell you this is real, but it does remind you that there is another world out there. Throw it away, digest it, ignore it. Most people do. Or think a little, consider it, and then forget it. Either way, the Slayer scene made the whole thing better. Remember when you judge this film, you're saying a lot about some people that the world is passing by (maybe for good reason).

If you didn't like this movie, stick to TV where you'll be happy.
I'd like to say cutting edge, but I won't. But it is. Simply one of the best films in my time (born 1970), this tale uses subtle, but pervasive imagery to portray the feelings of an extremely self-conscious, somewhat paranoid, and certainly depressed fellow as he (eventually) reconciles his bleeek childhood with the even bleeeeker world of today.
This is really a love story, all the other plots that are woven into this story ultimately end with Billy finding redemption through love. I wish I could convince everyone to see this, and let them make their own decisions. V. G. is the man to watch, and he should keep us wild-eyed, blistered, and unstrung for a little while longer.
