The Man with the Empty Room (2001)

Original is Best

This is by far one of the most original and entertaining short films I have ever seen. As a film student I am excited to watch original works. Todd Korgan has a original incite to the human condition. The film is shot in black and white which captures Horace's saddness remarkably. Combined with the music and the interesting setting Todd Korgan produces a quirky innovative narritive. Unlike other "required" film studies, I actually like The Man With The Empty Room and would watch it again.

Final Destination (2000)

can we say sequel????

I have never seen a movie in which the ending has such a blatent possiblites for a sequel. With that said I can finish my review.

I really liked the movie. I thought it was very imaginitive and had a good story line. I do have to admit it was hard to see Devon Sawa as something other than a teen idol, but hey he does have potential. The girl who was in it was pretty hot so that earned it some points....

If you haven't seen it see it.

Bird (1988)

Great music...not so great story!!!

I saw Bird as part of a Jazz Appreciation class. The movie pays great homage to Charlie Parker and has some wonderful music in it. So as a movie with jazz music in it, I give it a 10.

As for a story I've got one word long very very long. It took us 2 class periods to watch it. And the class is 3 hours long.

So as a review I really liked the movie because of the music not because of the story line.

Romeo Must Die (2000)

So not enough DMX and fighting!!!!

Being that it was a Kung Fu movie i went into it thinking it was a kung fu movie and thats what i got a kung fu movie. I wouldn't pay full price for it...hell i didn't pay anything for it but thats another story!

Alliyah was great. i was pleasantly surprised. I mean because most hip hop singers turned actresses don't do very well their first movie out. I wouldn't be counting my oscar nods yet but she does have some potential.

DMX wasn't in it enough!!!!

Jet Li....hmmm lets see good fighting but not enough of it.

All in all i say a decent movie just not enough ass kicking

i give it a 6 1/2 out of 10

Reindeer Games (2000)

take it with a grain of salt...

first off i went to this movie for one reason...Charlize Theron

With that said I can comment on the rest of the movie. It was surprisingly good. Ben Affleck's character was believable as believable as can be with an action movie. About half way through the movie I started to feel sorry for Rudy and hoped he could get home and watch the game and eat left overs for about 6 months. As for Gary Sinese I have seen much better from him (hopefully Mission to mars will be better). And as I said Charlize Theron is hot hot hot, I throughly enjoyed her performance. For those of you who haven't seen it I won't spoil it, but she really drives the plot and keeps the audience on its toes....

As for the rest of the movie take it with a grain of salt. And keep in mind that its just an action movie and it will be a fun game.....

Pitch Black (2000)

a must see...

lets see pitch black....in one word awesome...vin diesel is so cool that its hard to believe he was the voice of the iron giant...I found myself waiting stomach to fall back into the right place...

I espically liked how they used light and dark so well...also the graphics were awesome....

The movie is Rated R for extreme language and gore...though not out of range from such movies as alien or other sci fi thrillers

If you like classic sci fi thrillers then this is the a must see..

SLC Punk! (1998)

like walking on water..

a friend referred me to this movie...i personally had no desire to watch it...boy was i wrong..This is one of the best movies i have seen in a long time....about half way through I was saying to myself "this movie is dumb" and as soon as i said that it changed...the cinema photography went from piss poor to excellent...

this is a story of how life throws you a loop...it could happen to anyone it just happens to a bunch of punks.....

Yeah its supposed to be funny and it definately is at some points, but it also is very dramatic at some points...Matthew Lillard has it in him to be an excellent actor to bad he has to be in the scream movies....but hey one has to eat...

anyway if you want to walk out a movie laughing and thinking at the same time then go rent SLC Punk...

The Whole Nine Yards (2000)

funniest movie in a long time...

I have seen a few movies in my day, and this is one of the funniest in a long time. I was rolling in the aisles with this one...if you don't want to know about the content of the movie don't read any more......

but here goes...there is hardly any cussing and virtually no blood and guts and only a few scenes of nudity (which i might add is really nice)...

I wouldn't have any problem taking a twelve year old to this movie....

Eye of the Beholder (1999)

here is my take on this movie.... odd...in order to understand that you kinda have to understand me...i work in a movie theater and love movies...i also have a really hard time finding bad in films....but with everything there is an exception to every rule...and this movie is it...

I saw it for free (thank God)...but i do not regret seeing it...here are the reasons: 1. I liked the cinematography 2. ashley judd....need i say more

Now for the reasons i didn't like it.... 1. Story was very very hard to follow..(that is if it had one) 2. Ewan McGregor did not act his calibur 3. K.D. Lang...need i say more 4. what the hell is with the ending...for those of you who have not seen it i will not ruin it...

so as a sum up ashley judd good, story bad, K.D. Lang stick to singing...
