Skinwalkers (2002 TV Movie)

Many Technical and Factual Inaccuracies in first 30 minutes
24 November 2002
I grew up on the Navajo Nation, and right away in the first 30 minutes I see that the movie was filmed over 200 miles away from the Navajo Nation where the story takes place.

The movie has been filmed in the Phoenix area and the buildings that were shown were not anywhere near where they should have been.

The first movie based on a Tony Hillerman movie had actually been filmed on the Navajo Nation. Too bad Redford decided to stray from the book.

The casting is very dissapointing to see only people who succeed in butchering the beautiful language that we speak.

The Navajo Police cars and uniforms are correct, but Joe Leaphorn is a Navajo character that does not know the lanuguage and customs. This is not correct... Leaphorn in all the Hillerman novels knows the customs and traditions.

In the Dark Wind, Leaphorn was played by a Non-Indian who was able to speak Navajo. Lou Diamond PHillips did a much better job in attempting to speak Navajo. It appears that Adam Beach who butchered Navajo in Wind Talkers is doing a great job of butchering Navajo again here.

it's now 44 minutes into the movie and i'm very dissapointed that i missed Malcom in the Middle.

THIS IS AWFUL !!
6 April 2002
After just watching a few minutes of this movie.. they did the usual non indians playing Navajo people. Portraying the Navajo Police as blue jean wearing police force is not correct. This was not researched or set in the proper place. Yuma, where the Las Vegas cop was to be met is over 6 hours from Window Rock, AZ. Window Rock AZ is in the Northwestern part of the state... The Navajo Police wear badges not name tags.

I have taken this back to Hastings and demanded refund of the rental fee of fifty two cents.

Would have been nice if they filmed NEAR THE REZ.

SLOPPILY MADE!!!
7 December 2000
The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie about the Navajo Girl brought up Jewish could have been made better.

First of all the uniform of the sister who is supposed to be Navajo Police officer was wearing a security guard uniform. The Navajo Nation Police uniform is Beige/khaki.

The Cacti is not indigenous to the Navajo Natoin... Does not grow more than 20 miles north of PHX.

NON NAVAJO ACTORS PLAYING PARTS OF NAVAJOS (old folx) MOST NAVAJOS OVER AGE OF 40 SPEAK NAVAJO FLUENTLY!!

The Dark Wind (1991)
Navajo Language spoken by Jim Chee!
7 May 2000
When I first saw The Dark Wind, I was impressed that local people were cast as extras and were speaking the Navajo Language. The subtitles were accurate.

When I heard Chee speak Navajo, it was broken but he's not a native speaker. I was very impressed that he took the time to actually learn to speak the words.
