Dentist on the Job (1961)

Silliness abounds in this comic affront to British advertising. Beckwith, an ad executive, enlists the services of wacky dentists, Monkhouse and Stevens, to revive the sagging sales of a toothpaste. They invent a new wonder toothpaste and their nutty attempts at promoting the product comprise the rest of the film.

Not better -or worse- than the average 50s/60s comedies. Although I expected Norman Wisdom coming in and shout "Mr Grimsdale!!!!"

I first heard the excellent soundtrack before I was able to see the movie. Because of the dreamy nature of the music I made a whole movie in my mind; When I actually saw the movie I was disappointed, so my advice buy the soundtrack and don't watch the movie.

My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988)

One of the funniest scenes ever

This is a movie that I like except for one thing: the horrible Mr Lovitz, who is never really funny. Luckily all the other actors are very good and extremely funny. This movie even has the one of the funniest scene I ever saw in it: when Celeste goes up on the satellite dish and needs a crash course in kissing. This scene always cracks me up and I even need to put the movie on hold just to stop laughing. This movie does just what it should do: make you laugh.

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

Why bother with the rest, this one is the best.

This is without any doubt the best Bond movie ever made and it never left my personal top 10 ever since I saw the movie in the cinema way back in 1977. Why is it so good you may ask? Well let me give you a few arguments:

1.It has the best opening scene ever, that parachute jump will never be matched!

2.The title song is superb and even more known than any of the other theme songs.

3.The music score by Marvin Hamlisch is just top notch and has a lot of dept. It's not just one theme that gets played over and over. If fact the soundtrack album is the only one you can listen to without getting bored.

4.The movie is shot in different locations and really uses them, it's not just someone saying: ‘Look we are in Sardinia' and all you get is a wide shot of (possibly) Sardinia. The scene with Bond arriving in Cairo proves my point.

5.It's got a pair of excellent villains: Stromberg and off course Jaws. Every Bond movie should have a rich villain who happens to be an megalomaniac and is helped by an invincible henchman (Jaws actually doesn't die).

6.It has the largest most impressive set you've ever seen. They even needed to build a soundstage around it

7.The comic relief is justly timed. Other Bonds couldn't really cope with that. This, is however, also an essential part of the Bond movies.

8.Be honest: nothing tops the Lotus Elite

9.Just for DVD-owners: the extra's on the DVD are the best of the whole series.

The Hidden II (1993)

Hidden in the dark

This movie starts out fine because the first 10 minutes just replays the final of the original movie. But then all of a sudden the acting becomes really bad, so this must be the movie proper. Just to really let you know that this is going to be a very different movie they kill off everyone who survived the original in the next ten minutes. Then they don't know where to take the viewer and decide to just have the actors read out the script without any acting involved. To make it more easy for them everything is set in dark surroundings, so you can't see there not acting involved

Please stay clear of this movie, because this is a real stinker..

Kill or Cure (1962)

This could damage your health

British comedy by the director best known for the four Miss Maple movies starring Margaret Rutherford. Terry Thomas is a clumsy detective who's been called to a health club to investigate the strange things going on. When he gets there he finds it be very difficult handling all the clues he thinks point him in the right direction. Police Inspector Lionel Jeffries regards Thomas as being the strange thing going on. Lovely Movie.

All at Sea (1957)

Another fine offering from Ealing Studios

Wonderful film with a lot of tongue-in-cheek humour. Alec Guiness is excellent as an descendant of a family full of (in)famous captains who has just one little problem to follow in there footsteps: he has a bad case of seasickness! So he decides to buy a 1000 foot pier and run it as a ship. The city-council though has other plans with de seafront and the pier does not really fit into their plans. The Captain can only do one thing: declare his pier as a proper cruise ship! This is a film that fits in with the other small masterpieces made by Ealing Studios in the fifties and I can really recommend it..

Where Is Parsifal? (1984)

Confusing movie

This is truly a strange movie. It features Tony Curtis as an inventor with a huge house, a butler and a busload of people staying over. One of the guest makes comments now and then using a closed circuit audio system, which is wired all through the house. Why he does this is never made clear. The inventor also has a son who does the strangest things, including sleeping with a woman I presume is the housekeeper.

Now, inventor curtis needs money and tries to sell his inventions. That's more or less the things I can make out of this confusing movie. The acting can best be described as 'experimental'. come to think of it, the whole movie is kind of an experiment: how long can you watch this movie for?

Prince of Central Park (2000)

Wonderful Kid's Movie

A young boy flees the clutches of his foster-mother and decides to take up residence in Central Park. There he meets a few people that will help him to shape his future: a bully, The Guardian (a witty Harvey Keitel) and a couple with needs of there own (Aielo and Turner). This movie has some surreal undertones and can count on a very strong cast to make the story not too sentimental.

A real treat for children of all ages.

The Green Slime (1968)

The horror, the horror

Oh dear, this is a bad movie. The acting by lead Robert Horton is even more horrible than the monsters. He keeps on repeating the line 'That's an order, Mister' all through the movie.

The same year Kubrick made '2001' this movie was released. You can't help wondering what would have happened if Kubrick didn't revolutionized the SF-genre.
