Gene Simmons is the only reason to see this one.
14 August 2001
Gene made me laugh until I cried. He took this horrible mess and ran with it. The rest of the cast...well, what rest of the cast? This one is a real stinker but if you're a hardcore KISS fan you can appreciate the utter hilariousness of Gene's performance. Don't get me wrong, this movie overall is the worst I have ever seen but if seeing Gene Simmons in drag will live on tape long enough for my grandkids to see it, then it's worth it. LOL I pull it out of the cabinet whenever I need a good gut busting laugh with a horrible script.

Cast Away (2000)

Cast Away Is An OK Movie
1 January 2001
I went into this one skeptical because the critics liked it. With the exception of a very few, the movies critics applaud bore me to tears. This one was, in my opinion, a casualty until the crash. Hanks and Hunt walk through their lines in the beginning like they are just punching a time clock saying memorised lines. There is no passionate chemistry between them. In fact they are rather cool to each other not even acting like they like each other really except where it says "insert kiss here". The movie does take off however when Hanks boards the doomed flight and soars from then on. The rest of the movie is suspenseful, funny and poignant. Hanks is marvellous in his Robinson Caruso role. Hunt finally finds her emotions at the end and finally the chemistry between Hanks and Hunt is there for the ending. This one fell flat for me in the beginning but soared into the ending with flying colors.

Charming Cheese!!!
3 November 2000
I thought this movie was great. Diaz, Liu and Barrymore were all exquisitely funny. Although a little cheesy at times, this movie showed the heroines in their best light. The laughter was always at the right moment. It was as if the roles they portrayed were made for them specifically because they fit so well into what the public sees them as, ie: Barrymore, sexual and goofy: Liu, dominant and goofy: Diaz, sweet and goofy. Bill Murry as Bosley was dead on in the part. Crispin Glover was a ominous lurking bad guy and very convincing. Sam Rockwell who played the bad guy in The Green Mile still gives me the creeps with ease as Knox. This movie was better than I thought it would be. I was expecting a major 70's retro Austin Powers type movie but was charmed by a 21st century update of the original series. The martial arts were action packed but a little too over done with the slow motion effects. All in all, money well spent. I see a sequel coming and I will be there watching.

Horror Connoisseurs Don't Waste Your Money!!!
29 October 2000
Where are Blatty and Barker when you need them??? Was the screen writers guild on strike during the writing of this stench??? I have to give the actors credit in this one for pulling off their characters as well as they did with what they had to work with. This was the most hard to follow movie I have ever seen. It was thrown together so badly that you didn't know which way was up. I had the feeling all the way through it that the writers didn't know anything about writing stories and were depending on the gore to get them through. It has an R rating which was a mistake because it might scare 15 year olds at best. This movie, as well as a few others lately, infuriated me at the lack of quality control in Hollywood. I didn't like the first one either but at least I had to give the people who made it credit for having an original idea. Being amateurs, they pulled the original off rather well. This one just stinks.
