Scooby-Doo (2002)
Some people must have been watching the wrong cartoon
This film was exactly a carbon copy of the old tv. series that i enjoyed so much as a kid. I don't know what these other people are referring to when they write that this was not faithful to the cartoon. Okay were you watching another cartoon that involved a dog named Scooby Doo and his crime fighting gang?
This was packed with memorable lines or phrases such as: "Puppy Power!" "Zoinks!" "Jeekies" "I would have gotten away with it to if it weren't for you meddling kids." It was oozing with similarities to the series like the disgusting delights that Scooby and Shaggy enjoyed, the very little amount of clues that were gathered during a case, the elaborate plans to catch the bad guy that somehow managed to work. It was all there, but some moviegoers failed to recognize it.
I highly suggest that everyone that made this false accusation tune into Cartoon Network sometime soon and rewatch an episode of Scooby Doo. Pay close attention to this beloved toon of your childhood that entertained you so much because somewhere in the growing up process you forgot it.
(Also give Sarah Michelle Gellar a break she didn't have as many famous sayings and as interesting a character to work with. You try to impersonate a girl that does nothing in the cartoon besides hanging out with fred and being nabbed all the time.)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Great Holiday Comedy
I wish people would stop over analyzing this movie. It is suppose to be a holiday comedy. I laughed a lot and the movie was put together well not forgeting Dr. Seuss' ingenious people, words, jokes etc. So it was a good movie because it did what it was meant to do "entertain." It is obvious that this is not going to be a contender in the oscars for best picture, but i don't think Ron Howard was shooting for this. So people lightn' up and enjoy this movie.
Boys and Girls (2000)
Not perfect but good
This movie is not perfect and it doesn't claim to be. it's a good light hearted romance/teenager movie. Even though the dialogue at the beginning was rough it began to smooth out and become a rather enjoyable movie. + the girl was sooooooo hot and so was her friend, Amy in the movie.
all and all a good 7/10 (not perfect but hey can you do any better?)
Stir of Echoes (1999)
it sure scared me
All scary movies should be like "Stir of Echoes." It scared the crap out of me and still managed to have a good plot and some awesome acting in it. The use of forshadowing and flashbacks really set this movie up to be great. you would never know that ever single dream, nightmare, or vision would tie into the plot somehow. no holes that i could think of and the acting was hands down some of the best i've seen in horror/thiller films. (except for the shining and the sixth sense)
even though the script was good i have to say that this was kevin bacons movie. he made his character believable, interesting, and scary (sometimes) without overacting or stealing the spotlight. After some of the BIG, HUGE horror let downs like: the haunting and house on haunted hill i was glad to see a horror movie that scared you with more than just too much blood/gore and bad acting.
all and all 9/10 for good script and great acting *AWESOME ATMOSPHERE AND TENSE MOMENTS*
Fight Club (1999)
Thrill ride that just wouldn't let go
When i watched this movie over at my friend's house i didn't expect this to be such a great movie. From the very beginning this movie gripped you and wouldn't let go till the ending credits rolled. i liked the underlying meaning of this movie and agreed. i do agreed that people get too wrap up in their daily lives and material things (that don't really matter.)
Brad Pitt and Edward Norton did an excellent job and really got into their parts. The screenplay was a masterpiece and the direction was great.. i recommend this to anyone over the age of 14. in my opinion it's a 10/10.
Batman Returns (1992)
Like a trip to a dark gothic underworld
Most of my family dislike this movie because of it's crude humor and gore (mostly referring to penguin here). but as for me I love this movie. It's dark, sinister and a Tim Burton film. It's like a trip to a dark gothic underworld.
The casting was fantastic, all the main characters fit their roles, (except for the guy that played Max Shaecks kid but lets not linger on petty things like that.) The acting was excellent but Danny DeVito could have gotten into his character a little more.
The plot was solid enough and dialogue moved the film along great. The direction was done perfectly by Tim Burton.
Chip shaecks character altogether was casted badly. The plot was good except for the few holes in it. All in all a good 8/10.
