a complete waste of time.

The characters in this thoroughly unlikable hunk of cinematic formula are even more shallow than the 'plot'. This predictable, boring and completely useless film was ninety minutes of sheer nothingness that was about as funny as dental surgery. The central plot is mainly concerned with two eighties children going back to a high school reunion after ten years. Throw in a trendy sound track to match this awful, awful film and it still can't be saved. When I saw this at the movies a long time ago, I should have done what at least five people did. Got up and walked out. 1 out of 10.

Godzilla (I) (1998)
2/10
Another bad movie by Devlin and Emmerich
13 July 2000
To put it mildly, this movie stinks worse than limberger cheese. It's too long, the dialogue is contrived, Matthew Broderick went on acting holiday and whoever wrote this must of have been drunk. The special effects were fantastic though with the Creature and all that but seriously I've seen Japanese versions of Godzilla with just as much credibility and believability as this load of nonsense. In all of it's 2 and a half or so hours about ten minutes is good, the parts with creature(s) but that is all. Devlin has been quoted as saying that he wrote ID4 in four days, my question is did he write this in one of his lunch breaks? If you want to see a good funny monster type movie rent Lake Placid.

Virus (1999)
If you needed money Donald why didn't you ask?

This movie was disappointing, in Australia it didn't even get cinema release to my knowledge. I rented this movie thinking that is was a straight to video release, when I found out it was released in theatres(in the US) I almost vomited. One of my favourite actors Donald Sutherland must have been cloned because this isn't the actor from Six Degrees of Separation or JFK or the many other fine performances he has put in. His acting was horrible in this movie, so bad I thought I was watching Van Damme try an English/Scottish/Irish accent. Overall this movie was fairly interesting but a little too patchy and uneven to be considered a good movie. Unfortunately the cast lets the movie down with some fairly poor acting and the movie's script stinks as does the film as a whole. Four of ten.

The Apostle (1997)
10/10
THANK YOU JESUS!
13 July 2000
This film is easily the best movie I have ever seen. Robert Duvall moulded an American Masterpiece when he scripted, produced, acted and directed this magnificent film. The apostle is a realistic tale of a man's struggles with his flesh nature in contrast to his heart for Jesus while capturing the sheer uniqueness of Sonny's character then delivering a powerful, inspiring and truthful film. The truth behind this movie is simple, all people whether they be preachers or not are not God and being not God doesn't mean what they have to say is not the truth. As well as this it means that they are human and not God. People shouldn't look to religious leaders to see perfection, this can only be found in God. Duvall was robbed again at the oscars for this magnificent portrayal of an Apostle, which is believable to the effect that it's almost sublime. As far I'm concerned the OSCAR's are rigged,Robert Duvall deserves the oscar he missed out on. Robert Duvall should been handed the award of a platter for this powerhouse performance, not only that but a best picture should have been forthcoming. What amazes me is the accuracy of this movie, the research Duvall must have done would have been tiring to say the least. The sheer complexity of a typical preacher here is captured, transformed and magnified on the big screen in all his fallibility and holiness. Ten out of Ten for originality, Direction, Script and Performance, the best religious film ever made.
