Skipped Parts (2000)
Very Good, Very funny, film
I saw the trailer for this film a few times when I was renting some movies and I thought it looked very funny. Then today I saw it at the video store. I picked it up and watched it and loved it. I thought Jennifer Jason Leigh was so hilarious in this movie and she truly stood out as Lydia, Sam's mouthy, slutty mother. Another acting standout was Bug Hall, Mischa Barton and Angela Featherstone. I thought they played there part perfectly, especially the young leads and Leigh. I was also suprised to see Drew Barrymore in a very small role as "Dream Girl". Although it deals with pregnancy and sex with 14 year olds...I still found it very entertaining and if you want to see some very good acting and a good comedy, i recommend this movie very highly. 10/10
Lost Souls (2000)
Give it a chance...not THAT BAD...
When I went to see Lost Souls yesterday, I saw the tailer expecting it to be really good. The trailer looked excellent, Winona looked great, and yet, it was another "religious movie", which most of them I liked, I was excited. I went in with my friend, and during the slow start, there were a few good JUMPS, and I kept telling myself, "It'll get better, this is just the beginning..." but, i kept saying that, defending the movie as much as possible. The climax of the movie is good, and is HOUSE SCENE is pretty interesting, and basically all the "vision" scenes are really good, but at the very last part, I felt a little....ripped off. I gave it an 8, which is giving it alot, but I thought the acting was good, and the directing good, and with what they had, everything seemed ok. So, if i were you, I would give it a chance. Not a total loss. I HAVE SEEN WORSE (Summer of Sam) and I have seen better scary films (The Exorcist) So go ahead and see it for yourself.
Hollow Man (2000)
One of the best movie's I have seen this summer.
Truthfully, I have no idea what a lot of you people are saying when you say how terrible this movie is. The special effects are excellent, Elisabeth Shue has given one of her best performances in a long time, and Kevin Bacon also gave a very solid performance. I know many of you thought that the 3rd act took a bloody turn and it did, but to me, I didn't think it was that bad, I kind of thought it made the movie. Look at the movie's today that are making money, Scream 1,2, & 3, Urban Legend 2....all blood and guts with a moderately good plot. This movie just did what sells. And come on, it could be a lot worse. In my opinion, this is one of the best scary horror/thriller/action/man turned monster movies I had seen in a long while and after all, the movie can't be too terrible because the film has grossed so much. So PLEASE, GO SEE THIS MOVIE! It is truly a good film for many of us horror/thriller movie fans. 10/10
Scream 3 (2000)
The best Scream!
Since I am a Scream fan, i no doubt, loved this movie. I thought the first Scream was funny, original, scary, and witty. after seeing the first one several times, I was so excited to see the second. But, i came out a little disappointed. There was no way, you could've guessed one of the killers. I found that the killers were minor characters, as in Scream1 they were not main, but have good screen time, and was not that scary. But, the more i watched the movie, the more i liked it. So, by the time i heard about the third in the Scream series, I was counting down the days till it came out. I ended up seeing it the day after it came out with my best friend. I found that it was scary, original, and had some really good fight scenes and unforgettable characters (PARKER POSEY'S "JENNIFER JOLIE"). The voice changer this time was really unique and very clever. I also thought the buddy/hatred-ness between Courteney Cox and Parker Posey was hysterical. Mainly i thought Parker fueled most of the movie with her comedic preformances. I thought the ending at Roman's birthday was truly the best. And i was also surprised to see Jenny McCarthy give such a good performance for just the short time she was in it. David Arquette also gave a good performance, along with the rest of the cast. Neve Campbell was great with her lines like "It's your turn to scream, ***hole!" and "You want me, mother******, come and get me!" I found those to be effective if not cliched. So, if you are a fan (or not) of the Scream series, you MUST, i repeat, MUST see this movie. I will guarantee you will have a good time watching it, as i did. 10/10
