The movie deserves its just due!
4 March 2006
I'm basically echoing what I posted on the message board (i'm the only person to post there so far). I'm a big fan of Westerns, and this one is terrific. If ya've seen it, post on the message board. Dialogue, acting, Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn, all bad ass. If I ever find this on DVD, I'm buying it. I guess I need to fill up a few more lines, so here is some b.s. I'd never seen Anthony Quinn before I watched La Strada, an Italian film by this guy named Fellini, and if you haven't seen his films, let me tell you, he is god. Anyway, it was Quinn who played a strong-man in La Strada, all his dialogue was in Italian, and I'm not Italian, but I'll go ahead and say it was an impressive performance. Now that I've seen him in Last Train from Gun Hill, I'm even more impressed. For anyone out there who actually reads this, I am telling you to rent La Strada. Not just for Quinn. Giulietta Masina, the other lead role (a girl who travels around with Quinn), I don't even know what to say about her, she'll knock your socks off. Watch that and then watch Nights of Cabiria, and you'll see what might be the most unique and truly great performance ever put on film.

Haunting
24 July 2004
This is one of the single most powerful films I've ever seen. Having been to India several times and knowing to an extent what it's like for the poor kids that have to make it on the streets, it really gets to me. I know that it received quite a bit of critical acclaim when it came out, but I didn't discover it until recently, and, judging from the number of votes that its gotten on this site, it doesn't seem as though too many people have seen it. I hope more people do; these kids don't have much of a voice in their own country, let alone the rest of the world, but movies like this give them one and it should be heard by everyone.

Classic Movie
26 June 2003
This movie is definitely a classic. I used to love watching it as a kid. If you are willing to suspend your disbelief or if you are a little kid, you'll like the movie. If you like snakes, you might like the movie. It's about a woman who can turn into a snake. It's great.

Vanilla Sky (2001)

an underrated film, deserved better from the critics
18 June 2002
This film is almost exactly like the original, Abre Los Ojos, which was praised by almost all the critics. Those same critics, however, trashed Vanilla Sky, which I don't quite understand. Tom Cruise does a good job in his role and Penelope Cruz is terrific as Sofia, maybe even better than she was in Abre Los Ojos. This newer version is actually more enjoyable to watch, the visuals are fantastic and the story is pretty much just as it was in the original, which everyone said was great. I can understand why some people have a problem with it (the pay off at the end of this one is not done quite as well as it was in Abre Los Ojos), but it is still a great film to watch.

Martin (1992–1997)
One of the Funniest Sitcoms Ever
22 March 2002
Martin Lawrence is absolutely hilarious in this show; the rest of the cast is extremely funny as well. Martin's physical humor is great, this is maybe the only sitcom that has so frequently made me laugh out loud--really hard. Anytime Martin goes nuts over something he starts making all these weird faces and starts jumping and running around, and it's incredibly, ridiculously funny, and it seems to happen nearly every episode. Watch the reruns that come on late night on USA, you won't be disappointed.

unique, original, captivating, confusing, terrific
19 March 2002
Mulholland Dr was like an escape from reality for about two and half hours when I saw it, and thinking back on it I have to say that it is my favorite movie of all time. David Lynch is some kind of genius to have been able to tell this story the way he does. Read a couple of the other reviewers' longer comments if you want some sort of explanation for much of the movie, but the truth is there are some parts that you probably won't find any explanation for regardless of where you look. No matter what anyone says against the movie there is an underlying theme and it does make sense, some people just don't see it. I had never heard of Naomi Watts before watching Mulholland Dr., but she is absolutely incredible in this film. Go see it with an open mind and don't look for an answer to everything in the movie.

Full House (1987–1995)
Good show for kids, obviously not for adults
4 February 2002
The show isn't meant to be seen by adults, or probably anyone over the age of 12, so why are all these people even watching it in the first place? It was always a decent, entertaining show for kids to watch way back when it was on. Even if most of the jokes and themes are cheesy and repetitive, little kids usually don't care or know the difference. Bottom line, it was a good show for the right audience. By the way they really lucked out with the Olsen twins, they turned out to be fine as hell.

What a great movie!
5 November 2001
I didn't think the old-time black and white movies could really be good, but this one was. With the exception of one little detail towards the end (something that wasn't explained too well), the movie was smart and captivating throughout. I enjoyed it and recommend it to fans of modern day suspense films. This one is better than most of today's movies in that genre.

Terrific Movie
26 October 2001
This movie is great if you let yourself get caught up in the story. It is emotional, funny, and some of the shots of the ocean are absolutely beautiful. It reminded me of some other great movies, like American Beauty at some points, The Ice Storm, even The Shawshank Redemption. It is almost on the same level of a couple of those movies, but not quite. Still, I highly recommend people to go see it; I doubt anyone would be disappointed.

Great movie; you have to be an Indian that has grown up in America to get it though
6 October 2001
This is a great movie, but only Indians that grow up in America will appreciate it. It is basically one giant inside joke and it is very accurate in its portrayal of "abcd's". Anyone should be able to enjoy this movie, it is really funny.

it's pretty bad, but i like for some reason
28 March 2001
This movie is not good by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it's probably one of the worst films ever made. I saw it a long time ago, though, and it was late, and at the time I liked it. I hope to someday see it again, but i don't think that it's going to happen. I still recommend it to people who like bad movies.

Best Movie Ever, I want to see it again as soon as possible
13 January 2001
This movie could not have been built up any more than it was, and it still managed to live up to expectations. The fight scenes were by far the best ever in the history of film and the story was excellent as well. Anyone who doesn't think that this is one of the greatest movies ever made is out of their mind; it is certainly the best martial arts movie ever made. Everyone has to see this movie, there has never been anything like it.

this is one of the most under-rated movies ever
26 November 2000
I saw this movie a couple months ago and it is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. After reading some of the comments by other IMDB users, there seems to be a lot more symbolism than what I picked up on during my first viewing. I still loved the movie and I plan on watching it again to see if I can understand it a little better. I'm amazed that it isn't on the list of Top 250 movies of all time, it should be in the top 50.

a great movie, very moving, very underrated
23 October 2000
This is an extremely emotional story, one of the most touching films I have ever seen. I am amazed at the lack of recognition that this movie has received, it deserves a lot. I understand the argument that it stereotypes women, and makes all men look like heartless pieces of c**p. However, viewers shouldn't look at the characters in this movie as representations of all Chinese people. This is a story about a specific group of people, who cares if most of the men in their lives happen to be bad guys. I'd be the first to get upset about an unfair portrayal of men or any other group of people, but there is no need for that here. This is simply a great movie, very, very moving.

another underrated movie, a great film
16 October 2000
This movie is very underrated, it hasn't gotten nearly the credit it deserves. I thought it was very well done, although it wasn't perfect, it was still very good. It is the first movie to talk about a problem that is very prominent in todays colleges and their methods of recruiting. The film is very well written and Nick Nolte does a great, great job playing the conflicted coach.

NewsRadio (1995–1999)
hilarious, most underrated show ever
15 October 2000
"NewsRadio" is definitely one of the funniest television series of all time, it's unfortunate that it went out like it did. There couldn't have been a better cast for the show, every one was extremely funny together. The one person that stood out, however, was Phil Hartman. He was one of the funniest people ever to live, and with out him the show couldn't really go on. That's why it really sucks that a show as great as this one had to end so suddenly, just as people were starting to find out about it. I hope they never stop showing the re-runs.

this one may be better than "Rudy"--I'm thinking it is
8 October 2000
This is with out a doubt one of the greatest sports films ever, and one of the best films in general that I have seen in a long time. All of the cast members do a tremendous job of portraying their parts, and it makes for some of the most moving scenes in a sports film since the endings of "Rudy" and "Field of Dreams". This movie better win an Oscar for something.

"Sleepers" is a great movie, who cares if it's true?
8 October 2000
This is one of the best films that I have ever seen. I always hear people criticizing it because it isn't historically accurate, but that is honestly a load of c**p. People who can't see past that are missing a great story with a great ending, accurate or not. It reminds me a just a little of "Stand By Me", but "Sleepers" has a better ending.

One of the top two films ever made
8 October 2000
This film didn't win the Best Picture Oscar? It would have been under-appreciated even if it had won, an Oscar isn't worthy enough to be associated with this amazing film. They should have created a separate award for this movie--"The Best Film Ever" award.

Stand by Me (1986)
a great movie, could have had a better ending
8 October 2000
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It is very sad to think about the actual death of River Phoenix, his performance was one of the best ever by an actor of his age. The only thing I would have like to have seen a little bit different was the ending, but it was still a terrific story.
