Sakebi (2006)
A rich and beautiful tale of otherworldly expression
This really is another masterpiece in a gathering of work that puts so many American mainstream horror directors to shame.
A rich tale of longing and unrequited desire, summed in an intensely satisfying, and beautiful prose. Delicate, yet overwhelming at times. Smart and distracting, like the written lines of Haruki Murakami, filled with lynchesque overtones. It reminded me of Miike doing Izo, in its expertise in skipping genre and time planes to find its core story. I loved this movie. I know it is clique, but I laughed, I cried. I jumped out of the seat of my pants!!!
For a lover of Kurosawa, this is a must!
Nailed (2001)
Lifetime for losers
This movie is terrible. It's purpose is to let us know that if you didn't receive the Beaver Cleaver upbringing, then you don't deserve a baby, love, or even acceptance. The family are in fact such closed-minded bigots, I had trouble even finishing this film. I say stay away.
The Wrecking Crew (2000)
This movie was horrible!!
From the terrible acting to the wanna-be "stylish" filming style, this movie sucked! I have seen all of Ice-T's movies, and overall it is hit or miss, this movie shouldn't even be called a movie. It was more like a long, boring rap video with no plot.
Beowulf (1999)
A wonderful film!!
This is Christopher Lambert at his best! I had pretty low expectations when I saw this on the shelf (after Fortress II and Highlander 4), but Lambert kicked butt. We had great effects, suspense, and an interesting mix of sci-fi and folklore. The music was fun, the fight scenes were great. The only thing this movie lacked was that it strayed far from the original story of Beowulf. If you ignore that story of Beowulf, this becomes a great god-man verses god-monster movie.
Killing Time (1998)
Very worthwhile
This was a wonderful movie. It was a little slow at times, and the subplot was a little annoying, but by the time the credits rolled I was an absolute fan. The movie from the hitwoman's perspective was stylish and fun, Kendra Torgan did a wonderful job. This film is a treasure in the hitman genre of films.
