More than an action film
13 August 2001
THis movie is more than an action film, it's neo noir. I admit it is a little simplistic at times, it also has a lot to it. many audiences these days think film noir is dead, they are wrong. A lot of people do not have the patience for fim noir, but if you do ,it pays off. No one in this movie is innocent. Kurt Russell's character starts out bad, but when he realises what he has done, he seeks redemption. Kevin Costner is an especially evil villian and he does a good job of it. ( By the way, I HATE Kevin Costner!!!) Also the violence in the movie is done in the style of Asian Action Hong Kong Cinema, which is more extreme than Americans are used to. This movie is by no means perfect, but it doesn't matter, because this was cool. Hey, It's an action movie, not Shakespeare. Action Movies aren't for too much thinking. THe style in this movie is not nessesarily unique, but it is seldom used, and it is done in a whole new way. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained. Give it a chance and I promise you will have fun.

80's Action
4 June 2001
This is a cheesy 80's action flick. It is another one of those movies that is so bad, it's actually good. It's not your typical 80's action movie, at least not completely. It tries to be hip and modern for young audiences, and still appeal to adults. It's got a MoTown Soundtrack and some Slasher movie style music. Action Jackson is an entertaining movie if your in the mood for something fun. Don't try to overanalyze it and you will enjoy it.

Dramatic Hitchcockian suspense
15 March 2001
This movie does start a little bit slow, but it builds up in its suspense and intensity. The way the story is told you do not even highly suspect that anything is wrong until it comes out. The plot twists and turns are enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. This is the kind of movie Alfred Hichcock would have made had he still been living in 1992. At one point the background looks like it is straight out of "Vertigo". The music score even sounds like Bernard Herrmann. This is a very entertaning suspense thriller that "The Master" would have been proud of, and I'm shure many will find entertaning. " Final Analysis " makes for a great night' entertainment.

Gripping entertainment
21 February 2001
This is an engrosssing, pulse pounding thriller. It has depth not often found in many Hollywood movies in its characters. Even though it was made in 1989, this is classic Film-Noir. It has that dark, edgy, disturbing feel that is typically found only in Detective Movies of the 30s and 40s. It reaches down into the dark recesses of the soul and displays them for the audience. The way it plays out is much more in the style of Old Movies. It displays the powerful extremes that come in the nature of Good and Evil. This movie isn't just a simple thrill-ride of a movie, it is powerful, gripping entertainment.

Cape Fear (1991)

Cape Fear
25 January 2001
This is a terrifying, riveting suspense thriller. This has to be one of the scariest movies that I have seen in a very long time. There is very much an atmosphere of psychological terror, as well as real terror in the story ( even though it does have something in common with a fairy tale!). The movie instills terror into the audience from the moment it begins, and I mean that every bit. The moment the story begins we become more and more terrifed. Elmer Bernstien's adaptation of Bernard Herrmann's music gives the film a great atmosphere of unrelenting suspense.Let us not forget that Robert De Niro plays a great Psychopath. I must warn that Cape Fear does have some things in common with Slasher Films, but it is more like an old fashioned suspense thriller. If you want a really cool and very scary movie to watch, I recomend Martin Scorease's remake of Cape Fear.

Basic Instinct
24 December 2000
Many people think of the movie "Basic Instinct" and think bad without ever having seen it. I rented it expecting a bad movie, but to my suprise, it was good. If you don't take it seriously, it's loads of fun. If you look at it right, this movie is a great comedy. How can you possibly take a movie about a burned out cop who falls for an ice pick murder suspect? there is so much humor in this movie, it can't possibly be unintentioinal. this is a movie that is so bad, it's great.
