Under Suspicion (2000)
Under Suspicion....
Henry Hearst (Gene Hackman), a well respected Attorney in Law and one half or Puerto Rico's golden couple (the other half being Monica Bellucci) is brought into police custody under suspicion of the rape and murder of two young girls. The next 100 minutes sees Captain Victor Benezet (Morgan Freeman) and his sidekick Detective Felix Owens (Thomas Jane) interrogate and re-live the story in an attempt to make him 'break'. The acting of these three actors is appalling beyond belief, granted, a stilted story line does not help. The whole film drags minute by minute until you want to scream 'just frame him and then we can all go home'. The screenwriters then throw in a cheap trick to bring the audience back, but for me I'm afraid it was way too late. If the Hollywood writers strike had already begun then maybe that could be the excuse for bringing this movie out...
Liam (2000)
A powerful, thought provoking, well acted piece
I found this a very well-rounded film. Fabulous performances given by all and in particular the young boy playing Liam. Not overly indulged with the writers opinions and not given so much information that the audience couldn't think for themselves. Nice visual touches and only 90 minutes long!
