It's alright.... not great.... It is a bit cheesy but has some heart to it. I would say that it is worth a watch if you like the original film.

Wow

Watched this while in my barracks at my job school. What a terrible boring and long movie. The set design is cool at first and the costuming is really great. This movie sucks though- terrible script, no real style to the creation of the film, and the climax of the film falls so flat that it's almost laughable. Instead of laughing though, I am groaning in disbelief.

Why'd You Spill Yer Beans?
7 November 2019
This film fell short of my expectations. I loved The Witch and felt like it is a masterpiece as far as depiction the horrors and lure of witchcraft films are concerned.

At the end of the film, I felt like saying "that was really well made and atmospheric and hell yeah"!

I didn't love it but I knew it was a film making classic.

But a couple weeks later, I realize this is a fantastic movie and likely to move up to a masterpiece rating. I am going to see it multiple times over in my life and I think it is truly worth checking out if you like good films.

Movie is... watchable
7 November 2019
This film slaps hard- go see it fool!

So the music is absolutely fantastic, the direction, the technicality, cinematography, acting, script- god this is such a great film.

I had expectations set high because of the trailer I saw for the film. What? The movie didn't meet my expectations? It didn't exceed those expectations either because those expectations were for a film that simply doesn't exist.

The more I think about it, the more I realize I enjoyed the film. Leaving the theater, I already knew I loved this film, but I keep loving it even more.

I simply can't recommend this film enough. There is a high chance you won't enjoy it as much as the hype is making it seem like the worlds best film of ALL TIME, but this one is a masterpiece. Go in with expectations, you will enjoy it. Remove all expectations and enjoy the ride- you are gonna have you socks blown off your feet.

Go see this one ASAP.

Not Satisfied At All
24 October 2019
I just watched this movie and it was beautiful yet very sloppy. The script was not tight at all and I didn't even mind the time skipping. I thought this film had a good premise but suffered from lack of precision.

It felt like it was trying to say something more prolific than it really was and the only reason I can call it out is because there are handfuls of dialogue in which the audience is spoonfed how the filmmaker wants us to feel through dumb dialogue (example: not my baby (said threee times in a row, we get it...).

I didn't regret watching this, but I can't exactly say I would recommend it either. You have to have a lot of patience and a bit of an imagination to fill the gaps and make this a film you get anything out of.

The acting was hit or miss, not perfect of great by any means- I felt like I was watching a performance rather than a person. The music felt ripped off of The Witch and judging by the title name, story structure, and flow of the film, I wouldn't guess it's too far fetched to believe the filmmaker was heavily inspired by Robert Eggers film.

I have a whole lot to say about a whole lot of nothing. This film gets a light 5 out of 10, only recommended if atmospheric horror is your cup of tea.

Rather Creepy
21 October 2019
I didn't expect this series to leave me creeped out at night the amount of times it did.

I watched this over the course of a little less than a week. The production is great. The scares are effective. The acting was solid. I thought it was combined effective bits and pieces of horror and story elements from popular horror and the final product is (I think) a classic of horror TV.

I recommend this show full heartedly. If it comes out on a physical media, I will purchase! Weak 8 out of 10

I Can't Quite Tell Yet...
14 October 2019
This film is very quiet, subdued, and atmospheric. Not much goes on in the story. This movie seems to be going for a psychological approach to the characters. You are meant to explore the silences and time distortion as if you are being thrown around their memories.

What is the ending of this film, what does it mean? I don't think it truly matters. What matters is that they reached their destination together. Their destination is up for us to decide.

I will definitely give this another viewing in the future but as of now:

this film is a light 8/10.

This movie benefits from a second viewing. You can really get into the film rather than getting into what the film does and doesn't do to meet your expectations based on what people are saying.

Joaquin Phoenix DOMINATES the screen, this film is also technically great.

I recommend seeing it at least twice to get all you can from it.

So Terrible yet So Much Fun
13 October 2019
This movie is legitimately bad. It is so effing entertaining though and a fantastic film to just go brain dead to and enjoy some top tier gruesome kills. This is literally such a fun movie.

Not good, but not good to the point that it is great. Watch it if you haven't seen it.

Great Game with Very Little Substance
11 October 2019
I enjoyed this game quite a bit. A fantastic small story. I believe it took me 17 hours to beat in total. I probably did 85-90% complete with 44 seashells captured?

This game was cute, fun, and completely devoid of substance. I can see picking this up and playing it on a Thursday night for 30 minutes after a long day of work and study.

If you have the money and time, I would recommend it.

Horribly Mediocre
11 October 2019
I had high hopes for this film. I was disappointed.

To start off with, I have been going back and rewatching horror classics and figures this movie would be a great film to watch as I had never seen this before.

The acting is sub par and the editing does not compliment the acting AT ALL. The music is pretty good, but is used in very odd moments. I love when loud music is used to show anxiety and fear and straight up horror from the characters perspective, but the times it was used made it feel melodramatic.

The guy who goes with the main character and helps investigate and find clues is the best actor and I believe he took the role and made it his own (as much as possible). Everyone else felt like they could be replaced with your run of the mill "serious guy" or "attractive woman".

I am pretty disappointed especially since ethos is up there as a horror classic.

Light 5 out of 10, I can't really recommend this movie unless you have never seen it before and are big into horror.

Slow burn and Effective
8 October 2019
This film has... maybe 3 jump scares in it? This means loud music and scary image. However, there are multiple times in which the score is absent or very minimal and there is creepy imagery being put to use. I also had callbacks to other horror films including insidious and other late 2000s films which felt inspired by this movie. Cool to see the potential inspiration for other horror films you grew up with.

This is a solid 7. The way some of the actors (primarily his girlfriend) talked which took me out of the film. This is a cultural thing that I tried to get over while watching it but kept finding myself being sucked out of the film when she talked.

Pretty dumb and a bit ignorant but it is what it is. There is one scene of the film (driving late at night midway through) which felt dated. This is due to the editing and also the sub par acting.

No other complaints, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I am glad I stuck through with it even though the way the actress talked turned me off of the film.

Solid 7 out of 10 - I recommend watching this film at least once.

Pretty Mediocre
6 October 2019
I have no real issues with this film. I am glad that the people who made this decided to make sure that they changed up elements of the original so that it felt a little fresh.

This is not a good film, but it is an entertaining film. Jessica Biel is pretty good in this movie, the writing of the characters however is not. I found myself getting increasingly irritated with the characters and their lack of looking out for them selves. If any real person were in their situation, that real person would tell the police officer to eff off from the get go- or at least ask why he has no backup on a murder case.

Light 5 out of 10 Jessica Biel is the BEST part of this movie.

Garbage Film with Some Cool Technical Aspects
6 October 2019
This film sucks. I doubt I will watch it again unless I am drunk and have exhausted ALL other film resources. What a waste of time. The ending sucks, like why do these 2000s horror films always have to have the cliche dumb ending where the killer pops back out even though it makes no sense.

The only good part of the movie was all the technical aspects of it. I am genuinely impressed with the practical effects and creativity in the kills and set pieces relating to Jason.

Don't watch this unless you haven't seen it are genuinely interested in checking this off your horror checklist.

What A Great Film...
6 October 2019
I will keep it short and sweet-

Fantastic acting, music, and technical parts. This movie is slow but works to create a mesmerizing story. I can't wait for the discussions to begin and deepen.

Watch this film and be the judge of it for yourself.

VERY DUMB - WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS???
5 October 2019
Rooney Mara is the only saving grace of this film. She out performs EVERYONE in this film it is almost comical!

This movie is edited to the point of nausea. Like wtf is the attic scene, the shot changes like 7 times before she even begins sifting through the items in the box. What an unnecessary mess.

This is a perfect drunk movie to watch with friends. I would have preferred a film with Mara as the center focus from the beginning.

Freddy Krueger is menacing but not as he should be. His backstory is passable but takes away the mystery and supernatural elements of who he is as a villain. It also created so many more questions like how the hell does he remain on Earth and how does he now have powers to haunt you in dreams when he was a dude like ten years ago? SUPER unnecessary.

I don't know, this film just feels like a poor excuse to create a movie using the IP of Freddy.

I was entertained but then my interest dipped super quickly. Also that ending... wtf was that ending my dude? Sooooo effing dumb.

Light 4 out of 10 - Mara's performance is worth 3 of the 10 so chew on that.

A Surprising Classic
4 October 2019
I didn't go in expecting anything and realized that from the opening scene that this was going to be a classic horror film in my collection of films to watch.

The main cast is fantastic and the actress for Helen did such a wonderful job. I loved this film up until the end. I thought the ending was melodramatic but can be overlooked for the time in which this film was created.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!

I Didn't Realize...
1 October 2019
So I watched this as the first film and looked it up after I finished- this is the third film in the series. I didn't quite know what was happening and this may very well be because this is the third film in the series.

Regardless, I don't need someone (or the film) to tell me the threads of story from previous films for me to rate my enjoyment. I thought this was entertaining but repetitive. I could see myself watching each part of the movie as a short film and finishing the film over a week or so.

I loved the type of atmosphere this goes for, however there are quite a few horror cliches I didn't enjoy. Keep in mind though that this film came in the beginning of the 2000s, so the horror cliches weren't cliches just yet.

I respect this film and think multiple viewings will only strengthen the positives of the film.

Pretty Brutal Horror
1 October 2019
This film is pretty damn disgusting. I love horror films but this shows horror is a very unforgiving way. It isn't too realistic or believable, but the type of evil and enjoyment of suffering is put well on display. I like this movie quite a bit and will be rewatching come next Halloween.

What?
30 September 2019
I loved parts of it and absolutely despised other parts of it.

The film accomplishes leaving the audience member with a sense of escape from eternal solitude and despair. This is an amazing thing to make others feel. Sadly, there is alot of random annoying things in the film too.

Watch it if you are interested.

The End is Frustrating
28 September 2019
This movie is essentially perfect until the ending. I cant tell what exactly happened (even after the 3rd viewing). The last monologue of Patrick Bateman perhaps explains it to us. He has no idea what the hell is going on and neither do we. He just accepts it as it is and that is that. I love it.

Not Nearly as Bad as Everyone Says!
24 September 2019
The nostalgia was there. There were quite a few times where I legitimately laughed out loud at the jokes, but there are also times where I checked the time and wanted to be watching Indian take action rather than sit around talking about old times. The CGI has not aged well and will only look worse with time, but the heart of this film is what matters and you can tell this film has heart.

The alien making a dumb face at the end was stupid. Introducing Shia's characters as a bad boy was stupid. The overuse of CGI animals was stupid (I am talking to you gophers). The amount of times Indiana referred to old times that he had done "such and such" was dumb. But there were so many good parts sprinkled throughout. I would have to say that I enjoyed this more than Temple of Doom simply because the jokes weren't so childish. After watching the series for the first time in years, I will rate the movies in this order-

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark 2. The Last Crusade 3.The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 4. The Temple of Doom

This film was a light 6 out of 10.
