Rushmore (1998)
from charming, to juvenile, to charming again.
This movie had as much trouble with its self identity as it's main character. It has interesting characters who aren't explored nearly enough. As well as interesting character dynamics that make up the whole movie that still felt empty. And yet, despite its kinks, this movie still possesses that certain something that wes Anderson movies always contain. This is not one of his best, but worth the watch nonetheless.
Jackie Brown (1997)
Good but not great.
I unfortunately found myself bored throughout this movie. Although the characters were fairly interesting and it was a good script, it felt as if there was more here that was not being explored. Yet, it also felt too long. During certain scenes I felt myself losing focus due to sheer boredom. Only to come back and realize I hadn't missed anything of importance at all. I'm all for long movies, but this one falters in its length. Overall still worth the watch. Even though I wouldn't consider it one of my favourites.
The Highwaymen (2019)
The Harrelson and Costner show
Harrelson and Costner are the best part of this movie. The editing was sloppy for the better part of the first half of the movie. Which is honestly what brought this down from being a higher score. I could see what they wanted to do. Fast paced quick editing to convey the nervousness of our two main characters for taking on this job. But it felt like too much. If it was used in more moderation and not every scene I would've found an appreciation for it.
This movie does a great job of mistifying the infamous Bonnie and Clyde, while also shining light on those responsible for stopping them.
Overall a solid film and definitely recommend it. If for nothing else Harrelson and Costner.
Giant (1956)
Good with some weak points
While this movie is good I feel the three and a half hour run time is unjustified. There are easily parts that don't need to go on for as long as they do. And others that I would've like to have seen go on for longer.
It's an interesting concept of looking at how time plays a role in life and how things will never end up how you expect. And seeing these characters views and beliefs change over time really drives home just how much time will change.
James dean is easily my favourite part f the movie. I found his character more likeable even though he's supposed to be the villain here. He is humble, he worked hard to get where he is. Benedict was born into it. He is very aggressive and somewhat stuck up.
I would definitely recommend it. Most performances are done good. James dean is great. Set aside some time cause you'll need it.
Southpaw (2015)
Would've been rated higher
This movie is great in almost all aspects. The biggest problem is the child actor. Every scene she is in I get taken right out of the movie. And this is especially unfortunate because most of her scenes are with Jake Gyllenhaal who is giving a great performance of a father who is desperately trying to reconnect with his daughter. The worst case however is during the last big fight when they keep cutting away to show the child actors reaction. Which completely ruined it for me.

Art and Craft (2014)
Strange but captivating
This documentary serves as two very interesting character studies. One on Mark Landis, showing us his recreations of classic art pieces, why he does it, and small aspects of his personal life. The other being the man who is set out to find Landis and get him to stop. Landis is obsessed with his forgeries. While the man set to find him is just as obsessed with stopping him.
Overall very enjoyable. I definitely recommend it.
Synecdoche, New York (2008)
Truly amazing
I'm not going to go in depth about it. Enough people have done this already. This movie is not an easy watch, and it is depressing. I was touched by this movie in a way that I haven't experienced before. I recommend this to anyone who I willing to give it a chance.
