Jeepers Creepers O Regresso (2023)
Impessed with the style and aversion to cliché.
Suspense, wacky touches and a great supporting cast add personality.
The story is astounding in it´s style has it has something different from other horror movies, loved the way the director made the creeper´s origin.
I think it's a cut above the usual horror fare. I found it to be tense and suspenseful. There was loads of action and it totally kept my attention.
I'd highly recommend this movie, The creeper is what nightmares are all about, his claws, his truck, his wings, it´s all there.
It might be a fan film, it might be a low budget movie, but it´s so great.
I´ll you will see it again tomorrow.
Sexta-Feira 13 - A Vingança De Jason (2023)
Jason prequel in form of sequel.
We see Jason come back after he drowned in Crystal Lake and then we get more teenagers for him to be mad at. Why you ask? Does it really matter? Let's say because they can live a life he never could and he hates them for it. That should be good enough. We also get a final girl that is quite clever.
Nor is it the best when it comes to dialogue. Much of it is very crude and cheesy.
Visually, on the other hand, it improves over some of the sequels.
And the hauntingly eerie music score, moves along very well throughout the movie, as Jason comes and kills them.
Never undertstood very well the bag on his head, but this movie has it, and it´s different.
Overall, pretty good prequel or sequel.
Tubarão: O Regresso (2021)
Even scarier that i tought it would be, call me crazy but i really liked it a lot.
For a short movie, it´s really great, i thought this was going to be some CGI fest crap, with a crappy shark swimming and killing everyone like that one from syfy with two heads and four heads, but no, this is a really well done movie, with skilled actors that make a believable presence within their characters, to make us fans, believe that this shark could kill us and we don´t even see him coming.
This movie is very intense, and i can´t wait to see it again.
10 out of 10.
The Thing: O Regresso (2021)
A Faithful Homage To The Original 1982 Classic
The 'Thing' from another world, in Antartica returns and again assumes human form and lurks amongst others, then splits, contorts and bursts open its human bodies in whatever way necessary to survive, some of them it kills, paranoia spreads, the cast never knowing who among them has been assimilated by this 'Thing'.
This sequel brings in a more diverse group of people - Americans, Englishmen, young and old and it benefits from it.
Overall, a great monster movie, with stellar perfomances by it´s cast, my favorite is by far doc Louie, he knows what this thing is and he wants to end it.
O Mundo Dos Anjos (2020)
A spiritual moving film, beautiful, poetic.
A visually beautiful film, which boasts one of the most poetic toughts of our life and the dreamlike poetry of the dialogue fits seamlessly in with the overpowering visuals.
The storyline is nice and simple and is given much additional poignancy and depth.
As they float through the angels world we see the real power of life, through his eyes he experiences a new welcome by Suriel (the angel).
This is simply a must see movie. I find it hard to imagine anyone not getting something out of this movie.
Inimigo Desconhecido: Enemy Unknown (2020)
A step in the right direction.
Finally it has arrived, i´ve been waiting for this movie for 2 years, and the wait is over, but It did not disappoint.
It was entertaining and fun to watch from start to finish, the characters are pretty thin and not much story develops outside of just staying alive.
There's more to an action movie than the action. There's suspense and build-up. This movie had those.
Just sit back, enjoy the popcorn and absorb it all. This movie is just begging for a sequel.
Sonhos Sinistros (2020)
The son of 100 maniacs is back.
The direction from Rui Constantino is great, with effective and dark atmosphere giving the film a sense of dread and energy. Great direction.
The score is creepy and scary and fits with the film's dark tone.
The special effects are good for a low budget movie like this.
Making this short film a must buy for every Freddy fan just like me.
Sniper Português (2020)
Not too bad, but not excellent either.
This film features a wealth of low rent action and shooting sequences and a familiar plot.
Tension never tightens but the plot and locations sustain interest for the viewer.
6/10
Aliens: A Redenção (2019)
Unbelievable action, for a short movie.
There's some amazing combination of animatronics, and miniatures used in this short film from the drop ship to the amazing face huggers to the queen alien.
As you watch the 36 minutes of unbelievable action in this tribute to the alien franchise, you can feel the love for the xenomorph here, the alien queen is simply amazingly done.
All in All, 10/10 an amazing journey into the alien world.
Refúgio 2099 (2019)
A bloody good time.
We´ve got a powerful performance by all the actors, this is a big budget movie, with lots of extras and great scenery,
The action sequences are well done and look realistic. For instance, there's a scene where a sniper rips the head of a portuguese soldier with just one shot, you see the visceral explosion of the head leaving the body, as it hits the ground.
The prologue establishes the circumstances under which the invasion occurred and the action that proceeds from that premise is possible.
Liked the musical score.
Hellbox II: A Dimensão Negra (2019)
A very special sequel
I really enjoyed the first one so wanted to see the sequel, this is a good movie. It is a lot better, and it has great potential for more sequels in the future, if they play their cards well.
The design of the corridors of hell was phenomenal, Alastor is undoubtedly the star of the show.
One can only hope. After all, evil is everywhere.
