Awake (2012)
Engrossing!
I eagerly watched AWAKE and found it extremely intriguing, VERY well acted, and was avidly guessing which reality was the real one - both were so plausible! The story line was so fresh and new, I applaud Kyle Killen, the creator. I am terribly disappointed that there is not a season 2. I am appealing to viewers to create such a demand to continue it, the same as they did for Prison Break. Ann Marie Miller - Maine
William and Mary (2003)
A BIG Fan of William and Mary
I was first (and still am) addicted to Doc Martin, watched the "movies" of Doc Martin, then watched Dirty Tricks, and Man Who lost his Head. Naturally, when I came across William and Mary I was sure I was going to like it. I am so enthralled with this series that I am compelled to write a review. NEVER have I seen life and death treated with such clarity and savvy. The poignancy that both are handled with amazes me, and as each episode unfolds, I am overwhelmed with the tenderness of the characters, especially William and Mary, as they greet death and life in their own perspective way. This series is not sad as I have read, but joyful in the sense of their caring of 1). each other and 2). of the lives that they touch. The subjects that are handled and touched, are done so with such compassion that I am more deeply entwined in this series with each episode (I am in the midst of series 3). I feel a great reverence for the writers of this series and am deeply dismayed that there are no further seasons of this show. The talent of Martin Clunes and Julie Graham is fine tuned to perfection in this series. I weep with them and for them in their joy and in any sorrows that they befall. Life/birth is treated with such panache that it is unparalleled in anything I have seen before or since. Death can not be more reverently approached as it is in this story of William and Mary. William/Martin Clunes is at his best in this series. The compassion that his character emanates is so beautifully portrayed, that I am humbled and hopeful that such a person actually does exists. Hail and accolades to this William and Mary.
Doc Martin (2004)
Love this show!
Doc Martin is HIGHLY enjoyable, the character's are endearing, the episodes all great stories. I really miss Marc the original PC, but the agoraphobic, narcoleptic PC Joe is also lovable. I am sorry that Auntie Joan had to pass, but am enjoying her replacement. I hope this show goes on and on. The village, Portwinn, is breathtakingly beautiful, Cornwall is so lovely! This show is very refreshing, and I enjoy quite a few belly laughs when watching! I love quite a few British shows, and when perusing on Netflix, I look for British made shows first and foremost knowing they will be VERY good! Netflix currently offers only 46 of the Doc Martin episodes, and I am delighted to find out that there are more to see and more to come!
Murdoch Mysteries (2008)
Murdoch Mysteries is my FAVORITE series
The Murdoch Mysteries is presently my FAVORITE show. I love everything about it. The era is vividly portrayed; the sets, the costumes, are magnificent. The characters are all portrayed with characteristics given to each person that they have become very endearing. Inspector/Detective Murdoch is handsome and extremely intellectual and hospitable. I love the fact that Murdoch is a Roman Catholic in what was at the time a predominantly Protestant city. I love that he makes the sign of the cross when he comes upon a deceased person. Constable George is wonderfully portrayed, and the way he not so subtly hints at future inventions is clever indeed! The way they tie in famous people is a stroke of genius! I hope that it continues for many many seasons.
Mr. Lucky (1943)
Mr Lucky is one of my favorite Cary Grant movies
Awesome cast and awesome movie...one of Cary's best. My daughter has used this particular movie to rate her boyfriends: if they did not like this movie, she would dump them. One of my favorite things about this movie is the lingo used. Briny marlin - my darlin, bottle and stopper -copper, lady from bristol - pistol. long and linger - finger. The supporting cast is wonderful. When they are learning how to knit and a crowd gathers it is hilarious. I love how he uses the coin with a hook on it to win the blankets for the war relief and then tells Lorraine Day when she finds it and tells him to show her again, he never takes advantage of a friend. Good morals in this movie - do the right thing, and all turns out well.
